I am trying to install just Reporting Services one a different server than the one that hosts the SQL Server 2005 database. Can someone point me to any type of documentation or a step by step instruction that can help. One more thing, none of the two machines is part of a domain.

View 3 RepliesI developed an ASP.net 1.1 web application that is written in VS2203 and I am using Reporting Services 2005 to render some reports in PDF Format. My problem was it is working fine in local (XP) and Production environment (Windows 2003 Server).fromo long back the solution was not working for my integration Server which has windows 2003 Server (1.1) and we installed the 2.0,3.5 frameworks. It is throwing an Object refernce error while render the report. Is there any permisions or something missing.

I have created a reports project through SQL Business intelligence studio, There is shared data source in it. The name of the sharedata source is MyReport.rds.I have added two new items to the project (reports folder) with names Survey.rdl and myProjectReport.rdl.
Before deploying it, I have specified three properties ( Throgh the project properties)
1) TargetDataSourceFolder=DataSources
2)TargetReportFolder= reports
3)TargetServerURL=http://localhost/reportserver and deployed it.
When I view it in the browser through
http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
I get my folder called reports, and when I click on it I can see two reports, it works till this stage.
I want to use the same report in Visual studio 2008 so I have done the following in VS 2008
Visual Studio 2008
1) Added a page
2) Added Reportviewer Control to the page
3) Click Properties of Reportviewer and Choose <server Rreport>
4) Set Report Server URL: http://localhost/reportserver
5) set Report Path= /reports/
It comes up with the following error:
The path of the item '/reports/' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. (rsInvalidItemPath)
I'm currently developing a program using ASP.NET 2.0 (C#) and i am using Reporting Services 2005. One of the report requirements is to export a data to an excel with multiple excel sheet.

I have a problem setting table cell(textbox) borderstyle.Some cells are for 'Amount' summary, so I want to set those cells' top border as 'Solid' and It works, but at the same time, the table's top border is set 'Solid' as well, that is what I don't want. I tried to install it on SQL Sever 2008 (it works on SQL Server 2005), but it failed with the error: "Storing or modifying packages in SQL Server requires the SSIS runtime and database to be the same version. Storing packages in earlier versions is not supported".
How do I install 2005 SSIS packages on SQL Server 2008? I have all the .dtsx files, not sure how to install them?

My site is purely internal, so to make the life of the users easier I discarded a logon page by using Windows Authentication in IIS and validating the username on my default page.
I configured the Reporting Services using the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, using Network Services, and I can follow both the Web Service URL as well as the Report Manager URL just fine, all is happy. Untill... I try to load a report.
I have an aspx page with a Reportviewer control that just blatantly refuses to display the report. I know I have the report server and report path correct because I am able to manipulate and set report parameters dynamically. However, instead of the report displaying, I get a lovely message "A network related or instance specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. In my computer I installed - Visual Studio 2010 SQL Server 2008 No IIS Installed by myself My first doubts is Because of not installing IIS in my computer while I was developing my project and I did not stored Project folder in "inetpubwwwroot" Folder, will it cause any problem on running my project on internet. In My computer, my project is working smoothly Now.
My Second Doubt: Under which folder in server I should upload my project folder. area showing in my hosting server control panel. My Third Doubt: Anything I have to configure such as database for to upload in server b4 uploading my project folder into the server? MY Fourth Doubt: Just upload my project folder as it is as it in my computer - Right?
We've deployed some reports from a server machine which can be accessed without any problems if you are logged onto the server itself by going to the URL of http://servername/ReportServer. However if we try and access the reports from a client machine (even if we use the same administrator Windows account) we get the Windows security window appear asking for a Username and Password to be entered in order to connect to the server. We've tried entering this but we then just get a blank screen after being re prompted a few times to enter the details.
Now I'm not sure whether this will be a Reporting Services or a Windows issue. Could it be a setting within IIS? It can't really be a user thing as the same user works on the server but not on the Client machine so it's more of a machine problem. It's as if there are some authentication settings somewhere that need to be set.

I have a report (Reporting Services) integrated into an ASP.NET that shows dropdownlists to select report parameter values. The dropdownlists are populated using direct database selects, though I see the report RDL files do contain the paramter values and datasets as defined in the report designer.Is it possible to obtain the report parameters "available values" in ASP.NET to populate the dropdownlists? This would avoid some code duplication.
Update.If the parameter doesn't use a query for available values, the following works:
