We have a weird issue found during setting up a new Windows 2003 Server with IIS6.0 & ASP.NET 2.0, our site is built using ASP.NET forms authentication with general authorization to deny access to all users & allow explicitly to static, home pages etc, -- web.config setting for forms auth looking as below:

Suddenly, IIS 7.0 is redirecting every request for the root of any domain hosted on the box to ~/Account/Logon, which is our Forms Authentication redirect. Additionally, some JavaScript and image requests are being similarly redirected, but not other aspx pages.
EDIT: It turns out that something has gone wrong with the disk permissions. Can anyone point me to the way things are supposed to be in Windows Server 2008 for a standard ASP.Net installation? The disk permissions are out of whack now.
how can i specify two different login pages in root web.config file since i need to have authentication for two folders.for securing My Account module i did like this in the root folder i need to have it for another folder called EBox also.

The web-app is configured to run with framework version 3.5 in a .Net 2.0 app pool. Also the framework 4.0 beta 2 is installed on the server. The application named 'TestPfade' is located under the website's root named 'Default'. It is not only a virtual directory but defined as an application. When viewed in a browser the image gets shown because the given relative path is correctly resolved to 'images/Lighthouse.jpg' but the paths to the ajax-framework resources also include the application's root folder and therefor aren't found: 'src="/TestPfade/WebResource.axd?d=1bX...' I was in a ASP.NET application has heavy traffic of AJAX requests.Once a user login our web application, a session is created to store information of this user's state. Currently, our solution to keep session data consistent is quite simple and brutal: each request needs to acquire a exclusive lock before being processed.
This works fine for tradition web application. But, when the web application turns to support AJAX, it turns to not efficient. It is quite possible that multiple AJAX requests are sent to server at the same time without reloading the web page. If all AJAX requests are serialized by the exclusive lock, the response is not so quick. Anyway, many AJAX requests that doesn't access same session variables are blocked as well.If we don't have a exclusive lock for each requests, then we need to treat all race condition carefully to avoid dead lock. I'm afraid that would make the code complex and buggy.
So, is there any best practice to keep session data consistent and keep code simple and clean?
I am using iis 5.1 in which we have only only one default website, I have two projects v2 and v3 my website points to v2 projects and have some folders images, styles etc now i have a virtual directory under this website that is hosting project v3 and having the same folder hierarchy as v2 in the home page of the both projects i have img src="imagesedlogo.gif" alt="logo"/> but this shows the same image that is in the v2 directory, How can i show different images for both projects. using "" get the root of the web site but how can i get the root of virtual directory under that website

And now 1 of it project near complete, and now I want to move to next module
But in my scenario, I want my single login.aspx to access all of modules

The question is, is that correct of scenario (4 project for 4 module)? How was the correct best practice if there is? What if I create all of the module in 1 project in VWD? future maintenance handy and performance wise (and security of course).. and maybe for easier in development also :)
I've got a details view control, default set to Insert which I've added file upload controls. I've used a button to begin the upload process and add the other data to the database. The weird thing is that if I use FireFox to enter the data and upload the files, everything works fine but it works slightly differently in IE8. The difference is that when I browse for a file in FireFox, upload it and store the file name, it returns just the file name e.g. myPic.jpg. However, when I upload with IE8 it stores the entire route to the file e.g. C:/Users/Users/Site/myPic.jpg Why would a browser treat these things differently? And, is there a way to fix it to work on both browsers?

When I drag ContentPlaceHolder2 to the bottom of the page, after </html>, it stays unchanged for a while. Then when I formatted it (Ctrl-K, Ctrl-H), the control became contentplaceholder!!

Why IsNothing() is behave differently between RDL and RDLC? The border that I'm utilizing (border-style is ridge) is being displayed differently when rendered as a MVC app versus a HTML page in IE 8 (I haven't checked any other version of IE).

Using vb.net/asp.net 2005 with a Master page.
I developed a page where the formatting looks great in Internet Explorer 8 but when I open the same page in Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3 it does not center the div horizontally (left to right) but instead has the div and content inside on the left side of the page.
I have an Application_Error handler in my Global.asax file. However, I load many pages using an XHR request and would rather these "sub pages" return javascript or a real 500 code for my main app to process, rather than an error page.
Is it possible to handle errors on certain pages in a different way? Can a master page handle its own errors in a page extending it without bubbling it up to Global.asax?

I have a create view for customer and based on the customer entity partial class metadata, I am validating the user input and its working fine as expected when the user clicks the create button.I also have a search button in the same create view, which is used for auto generation of some of the field values. When the user clicks the search button the action method create (post) is called with the corresponding button value as argument.the issue here is when the user clicks the search button most of the user input fields will be blank and the validation fails because of that.
View 4 Repliesthe Web Part for anonymous user and authenticated user is displayed differently. I faced this problem twise. First time when used Silverlight control in the Web Part and second time when used devexpress control in the Web Part. In both cases problem was with displaying for anonymous user. Silverlight control didn't display. Devexpress control lost it's styles. Both controls had properties that pointed to files. Silverlight control property pointed to the XAP file, and Devexpress control property pointed to the CSS file. It seems to me, that for anonymous user the Web Part cannot find this path or doesn't allow to link to other files.
View 1 Repliesi have a page where i have some text boxes and some dropdowns at the top and a Gridview(in the other page) in a Iframe at the bottom.the problem is that when i see this page in IE 8 and Mozilla 3 i can see them nicely formatted.but when i see it in IE 8 with compatibility mode on then the boxes are sqaushed and the columns of the gridview are also squashed and the whole page looks bit clunky.
