As my previous question didn't seem to have much popularity, I decided to change completely the way I approached the problem. Now my issue is that I still have TABLE1 with a foreign key FK, but what I want to do now is have the FK column in the GridView display Dropdown Lists. The Dropdown Lists should have their Text property bound to FK in TABLE1 but they should be populated by the different values of FK (stored in TABLE2).

I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". the specific example i am referring to is this site [URL] notice the sort by drop down list. basically i want to sort products according to price,name,popularity? do i have to requery the database and retreive the sorted data in gridview again, or should i already sort the items in the gridview that are already there? View 2 RepliesI've a web page that contains a Customers DDL, and a ClassCode gridview with a Salesman DDL. So far i have manged to populate the Customers DDL as well as binding data to the ClassCode gridview/ Salesman DDL. My next step is depending on which customer is selected(code event below), query the DB to get all relevant ClassCodes/Salesmen and update the gridview and any instances where the classcode doesn't exist for the customer the Salesman DDL will have a default value. Here's my code so far:

How to get the ClassCode for that row by getting DataKeys of the GridView, using the RowIndex of the Row. See if you have a SalesMan for the ClassCode. If you do, use FindControl to find the DropDownList in the Row, and set its SelectedValue.

I have 2 drop down lists.I have a very simple dropdown list #1 that diplays a title and holds an id value which is a GUID.I know it is getting this value and sending this value as I tested sending it to a label.I have the dropdown list #1 to autopostback to dropdown list #2 that "Is supposed to get" another title and value based on the GUID value of the first dropdown list. for some reason it wont return anything. I have done 100's of these but never based off a guid value.I assume the value needs to be converted to guid before selecting it in the second dropdown list.How can I do this? or is there something I am missing?

In this particular case, the DropDownList is in the EmptyDataTemplate, but I suspect I will run into a similar situation when I'm in Data Rows as well.I'm trying to handle the OnSelectedIndexChanged event for the DropDownList and in the .aspx file I have used the declarative syntax to assign the handler OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlStoreList_SelectedIndexChanged") and have created the handler code to deal with this.

I have packed the access 2007 project management database and moved it to SQL Server. I'm aware that SQL doesn't populate dropdown lists for the Status and completion Percentage columns. I have a DropDownList inside the EditTemplateItem (if the user clicks edit) in a GridView.The DropDownList receives all available rows from the database. My problem is,if the user clicks Edit in the GridView to edit a row and opens the DropDownList Box the original item is not selected but the first one.That means the items are sorted. Have someone an idea how I can solve this issue that the right item / the original is selected if I change to edit mode of the grid view?
