The default asp membership provider only allows for one security question and answer. Does anyone know a work around to allow for more than one question and answer?

I've been given the task to update an existing website. Currently the website has a login only for administrators. They administer everything on the site, including all "Artist" data. This is done using simple form authentication and custom user table. Right now the "users" table only has one record since all administrators use the same username/password (not good, I know). As the "new" developer, I've been asked to update this site to allow the "Artists" to register themselves, and be able to update their own information. Ideally I want to get rid of all the current security, and use the SqlMembershipProvider. My issue? I have the database added to my schema, but I'm assuming something else within the site is confused. When I try and use the ASP.NET I get an error: "Configured settings are invalid: Hashed passwords cannot be retrieved. Either set the password format to different type, or set supportsPasswordRetrieval to false.(C:Inetpubwwwrootsitessite1web.config line 21)
Right now there are no users, no applicatins even set up in the sQLMembershipProvider tables. I've been following the MSDN site, as well as some secuity tutorials on this site (ASP.NET), but none of the solutions suggested works for me. I've created a "Register.aspx"

I'm currently creating a small web app that requires users to log in before accessing any features.
I'm using Visual Web Developer 2010 and I have created a database in the App_Data folder of my project that I now wish to add the required tables, views and stored procedures to in order to use the SqlMembershipProvider. I have ran the aspnet_regsql file and entered the required details and completed all the required steps; however, when I return to Visual Web Developer and refresh the database I created, nothing happens, there are no tables or stored procedures.
Although nothing has been added to the database in my project, when I open up SQL Server Management Studio, my database appears with all the relevant tables, views etc.
Is there any reason why the database with all the required tables etc appears in SQL Server Management Studio but not in my project in Visual Web Developer?
I'm getting rather confused as I have completed this before on another project on a different machine and it worked fine.

But I'd like to force the user to enter additional required information (on a different aspx page) before they can successfully complete the registration process. What is the easiest way to direct and force the user to complete a different page of fields (stored in SQL in columns located on the same table as the basic membership fields) as a condition of completing the registration process?
In searching different sites, I see additional properties and templates like Wizard Steps, Continue button, Finish button---but I'm not clear as to which of these (perhaps none of them?) will allow me to accomplish this goal.
I want to use the Control of ASP.NET (User wizard Control) to create user, but it only provide its default field like: -username, password, securityQuestion.All I want is the addtional information like Address, Company Name, Telephone number. Again, all is fine there. Except I need some more complicated rules, something along the lines of "Allow Admins. Allow Buyers, provided they have the correct department ID and are allowed to see this customer's credentials". All of that information exists within a database.

I'm using vs2008, asp.net3.5, c#. In the Password Recovery control, there is only user name at the UsernameTemplate. How can I , or can I, add an additional field for user to also enter their SSN? How do I verify this myself if Password Recovery cannot do the verification for me. I mean, where, like when the submit button is click? And then how do I cancel the submit for PR if tax id is not valid?
View 3 RepliesI have a SQL Server 2008 DB with many tables filled with data and I used SQL Server Management Studio to generate a SQL dump by using the Script Wizard : Tasks -> Generate Scripts -> Script All objects in the selected database and also selecting the option to Script Data. I made sure to change the value of "Script for Server Version" to "SQL Server 2008". Then I created a new DB and ran the SQL dump on the new DB to generate an identical copy of the old DB. Then I assigned permissions to my default user to the new DB. Then I changed the connection string on my ASP.NET application to use the new DB. But when I run it, it throws the following exception -

There are multiple roles. (Role A, Role B etc) There are multiple input/output fields. (Field A, Field B etc) There are multiple permission levels controlling access to each field. (Read, Direct Edit, Edit With Approval, None) Each role has its own permissions to fields. (Role A has Read Permission to Field A; Role B has Direct Edit permission to Field A etc) Every role can be assigned to users and they are assigned by Geographic information. (User A is assigned to Role A for Continent: Europe - Country: Germany; User B is assigned to Role A for Continent: Europe - Country: France; User A is assigned to Role B for Continent: Europe - Country: France etc) Users can have multiple roles User identity is coming from Windows Authentication.
is it possible to represent this type of kind of multi-layered security model using ASP.NET internal membership/role providers? If so, what should my starting point be? Creating only custom role provider with custom methods and fields be enough?
Our application lets the administrator create new users. Since the administrator is logged in, I have set Logincreateduser = false so that the administrator is not logged out even after creating the new user.
The problem is :I need the userid of the newly created user to store additional details of the user in another database table. I see that i can get the username using Createuserwizard1.username; but how do I get the userID?

I need some explanations regarding the above exception.
I understood that if you place a response.redirect inside a try catch block, u will get the exception and the aspnet will handle the exception silently without the user knowing. But the thing is that right now i am having a hard time thinking of a reason
why the error will occur after some changes has been made and the codes with the response.redirect has not been touched.

The definition of it is not part of the source, but when I do a goto definition on it, it opens the definition, which indicates: [from metatdata] and the file it came from is a dll, system.web.dll from a temporary directory.How did that get there or was it part of the msi install that the toolkit provider came with?
I have a requirement to allow access to an app with users being authenticated by AD. Sadly, not all of the users who can access the app will have been authenticated this way so I need to provide a mechanism whereby if a user arrives as the site their authentication is checked using AD and if it fails, they are handed off to a login page that will attempt to authenticate them using the SqlMembershipProvider.
So, to my questions: how do I go about configuring it? If I want to use profiles, can both membership providers share one set of profile tables (stored in SQL)?

In my project I have a web service that returns an Exam object. This object contains a property that returns set of multiple choice questions in Questions[] array. Each Question object in Questions array contains two properties, Question and ChoiceArray. To clear things here's the code,
