I'm used to working with visual studio 2005 team version which included C# and j++ as part of the install suite. I'm now at a new company and their professional version has only the Business Intelligence Studio for SQLServer installed. Is there a way for me to download the web development, C# and asp.net support into this visual studio instance? I'm limited to 2005 due to licensing restrictions.

I'm trying to learn how to use AJAX and I've hit my first roadblock: installing it on my machine. I've poked around all over the place for installation instructions, and the ones I could find all reference some sort of msi file that I can't find anywhere on the Downloads section of this site.

It was working fine for months & i formatted my comp & when i tried to reinstall it is not getting installed !
It shows the following error !
and the error log file seems to be like this...
BUT.,
I'm able to use Visual Studio & i'm able to work in it....
I'm re-installing since 2 days for more than 4 times...
I have VS 2008 Professional Edition.....I want to test a function like this:

I have a freind who is in a country where she is not sure where can she finds Visual Studio to buy, she lokked arround in PC shops and did not find that. Is there a way that she can buy it online? or is there a category in Microsoft site that shows shops in countries the sell Visual Studio?

I am currently using VS 2008 Pro for an ASP.Net class. I got VS from school as part of MSDNAA program. It is version 9.0.21022.8 with .NET framework 3.5 SP1.
My problem is that when I start it up, it does not give me the option to Create or Open a Website. It only gives me the option to Create or Open a Project. So, when I start my homework or in-class assignments, I have to press Shift+Alt+N to Create a Website.
Where the problem comes in is after I start working on the website, I hit Save and it changes it to a Solution. This seemed to have caused a problem with BIND commands being lost in my last homework assignment. Is there something wrong with my install or a setting I can change? I'd rather not reinstall it unless I have to since it is such a pain to uninstall it in the first place.
I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.

But I need to do it with those software in particular.I have Visual Studio 2005 and Visual SourceSafe 6 installed on my computer. When I try to open Visual SourceSafe 6 database using Visual SourceSafe 6 directly, I have no problem at all.Then I try to open a project solution I took from SourceSafe using Visual Studio 2005. Right away I receive this messageThe solution appears to be under source control, but its binding information cannot be found. It is possible that the MSSCCPRJ.SCC file or another item that holds the source control settings for the solution, has been deleted. Because it is not possible to recover this missing information automatically, the projects whose bindings are missing will be treated as not under source control.
Then an invite to chose a SourceSafe Database open. I click on BROWSE. First thing I noticed : The SourceSafe available databases list is empty (while I remind, it's not in SourceSafe 6. I can see there the COMMON database and the VSS database which is located on a different server on our network. Before that, I went in TOOLS->OPTIONS->SOURCE CONTROL, and make sure Visual Source Safe was selected as the Plug-in to use for a Source Control).So I click again on Browse, and locate my srcsafe.ini file. Everything is OK. It evens confirm me that my database path is
\dev2k3programmationVSS and that my database name is indeed VSS. So it found it. I then click on OK.
But when I do, the Database is not added to my available list, at all. The result, I can never select a source control, ever, which end in me not being able to work connected to the main source control of our network. Everything is working fine on every other computer in our company. Only this one have problem.Did I give enough description to my problem? I really need help on this one, because working disconnected from Source Safe can give a lot of pain to our team. Can anyone give me an hand? If you need any more info, just ask.
I been trying to attach a database in sql 2008 express created in VS 2008 Professional. I have been getting error message and codes which there is no support for once you click the link in the message whats up with that? to my most recent memory it had something to do with permissions... but I was logged in as adminstrator so that confuses me.

I couldn't able to connect to SQL SERVER Database, the error says "Connections to SQL Server Files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the [URL]
1. Just create a new MVC project
2. I did right click on App_Data and choose Add new item
3. Selected the "Data" option at left hand side and gave a name for the mdf file which is same as my current database mdf file name.
4. After that, clicked on Add button.
5. Then i got above error messages.
6. So do i need to install SQL Server Express 2005?
I tried in VS2008... Tools -> /Options -> Database Tools -> Data Connections, and changing "SQL Server Instance Name (blank for default)" to connect to my instance name but still it didn't work. I couldn't connect to the database from visual C#. I have read several threads about it but I couldn't get any good solution that can solve my issue.
