AJAX :: Async Loading Of List - Similar To Facebook And Twitter?
Mar 2, 2011
I tried to search around, but could not find anything for this question which must be wrong, because I would guess there were a lot of topics about it.
Anyway, I would like to load lists on my site in a similar style to Facebook and Twitter, where initially x records are loaded into the list, and then after the page has loaded the list expands downwards with more rows of content, or add a "more" button in the end. I am using ASP.NET with C#.

I have to code a chart which get his data of a PLC-control. The problem is that the PLC send every second a measurement to my program, so I have to refresh the chart every second. Via a timer-element of AJAX I can load the chart every second with new data, but I don´t know how I can make this asynchronous.
I want to have this:
The chart-Website should refresh the chart every second via the ajax-timer. The measurements which were used should stand in an array which is updated with the PLC-control-Function.
BUT I DON´T KNOW HOW I CAN DO THIS!!!

I am not new to the Asp.net but currently I am working on a project which needs to be integrated with facebbok and twitter.
So can I know the steps how can I get data from the Facebook or twitter in my Asp.Net application ?
What details are required to be passed on Facebook's site and which kind of API is required ?
If any one has done this kind of functionality then send the code or steps.

I have created a facebook application using FaceBook ToolKit for .Net, What I am trying to do is create a WebApp for FaceBook which allows users to tweet.
I have also read about twitterizer library, that allows ASP.Net to create Apps for Twitter but it comes with OAuth authentication where a user is redirected to Twitter.com.
What I am trying to do is once user has given permission the app will accept username and password for their twitter account and then using Twitterizer library it will post their tweets.

My scenario is:
I have a website that shares some content and shows the number of times it has been shared. The sharing is done through facebook, twitter and e-mail.
Now, while sharing the content with facebook and twitter, the share count gets increased by some random number, sometimes 2 and sometimes upto 25-30. The reason I could find is that the bots and crawlers of facebook and twitter keeps on hitting the content being shared which increases my share count.
Is there a way to stop these bots and crawlers from hitting my website?

Just in general, where can I find the code to take a look at and learn from them? Or at least look at the functions available to me as I do get the feeling that the insufficient documentation at the moment reveals all.

With Twitter's new OAuth interface, their API is now many times more complex than what it was. And I haven't even looked at Facebook's API yet.
What I'm wondering if there is a method that employs some higher-level, existing code or interfaces to make this a simpler task.
All I want to be able to do is initiate a Twitter tweet or Facebook share on the user's behalf and be able to control the initial text of those messages, from an ASP.NET application.
I found some similar questions on SO, but they had no answers. EDIT: I know there are things like AddThis and ShareThis, but I need something that will give me control over the default message. It must contain a link with a code that is specific to the current user.

I have a simple web page in ASP.NET / C#. Currently to fully render the data I require calling a block of code that runs on background threads and can take multiple minutes to complete. I've got it to the point (using the async attribute on the page declaration) to execute and return fine with the html once it's done. What I'd like it to do is allow me to return immediately with a 'loading page' of some sort and then have that page be updated when the background work has been completed. Right now I get nothing on the page while the background work is being processed.

I have a web application that does some complicated data retrieval tasks and so I am trying to show a modal dialog box with a loading message when the tasks begins. I am using ASP.Net 3.5, the jQeury popup I am using is bPopup.
Firstly, I have a table where the rows can be clicked. Im am using a script from[URL] to do an async postback from the table row. Here is my function
[Code]....
so the $("#<%=lDiv.ClientID %>").openPopup(); opens up my loading modal and then the server starts doing its thing. When the server finishes though how would I then close the dialog box?
I just need to call one line of code like $("#<%=lDiv.ClientID %>").closePopup();

Technologies involved:
ASP.NET Web-forms
Javascript (jQuery for instance)
Case,To make it clearer let's give the Stackoverflow Users list as an example. This list can be manipulated at client-side. I can search, page and so forth. So obviously we would need to call jQuery.ajax to retrieve the HTML of each page given a search. Alright. Now this leaves me with the first question:
What is the best way to render the response for the jQuery.ajax at server-side? I can't use templates I suppose, so the most obvious solution I think is to create the HTML tags as server-controls and render them as the result of an ASHX request? Nice. That solved we have yet another problem:
When the user first enters the Authors List the first list page should already come from the server completely rendered alright? Of course we could render the first page as well as an ajax call but I don't think it's better. This time I CAN use templates to render the list but this template couldn't be reused in case 1. What do I do?
Now the final question: Now we have 2 rendering strategies: 1) Client and 2) Server. How do I reuse code for the 2 renderings?

I would like to use the IEnumerable function Intersect() to combine a few list and get the similar integers from each list. The problem I'm faced with is that I don't know how many list I will need to compare.
Here is an example:
A{1,2,3,4}
B{1,2,3}
C{1,2}
results = A.Intersect(B).Intersect(C)
This works great, but the next time around I may have a D{1,2} next time I come across the function.
I'd like to use the Intersect method, but I'm open to new ideas as well.
