Mar 1, 2010would love to popup a created ascx control.in my aspx page i have a button like button1modalpopupextender targetcontrolid is button1 and popupcontrolid is the one of the ascx control.everything works. have MANY buttons (more than 2) inside the ascx control.depending on WHICH button i push INSIDE the ascx control, the controls returns me back a valuebut the server side event for button1 is no more fired after extending with modalpopupextenderso what i need is to specify the modalpopupextender a method to call after ANY button inside the ascx control has been pressed.i did not find a solution until know.it WOULD HELP ME if, i click my button1, the modal popup displays, i can click inside there, and after i click inside the modal popup, the event for button1 server side would be raised, but this does not.i tried event for modalpopup unload but it crashes my webserver.so why this all? i created a ascx which will be dynamically filled with buttons and text depending on what i need.

The dll contains several usercontrols which dynamically create webcontrols within them.
I do not have Virtual Path of the UserControls to use in LoadControl(String virtualpath) and LoadControl(Type, object[]) does not work(why the heck is it there in the first place anyways).
provide me some sample code which takes either the path of dll or assembly name "ServerControls" to load usercontrol "UserControl1" dynamically into placeholder "PlaceHolder1"

Feb 16, 2011So I'm trying to dynamically load a usercontrol into a placeholder in another usercontrol inside a updatepanel.
basically I've got this markup:

</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
And then this markup inside that usercontrol (Popup):

In the codebehind of the popup usercontrol I have:

And I call this show method elsewhere with:
Popup.show(new MyUserControl());
Nothing loads into the placeholder though.
But in the show method I can load regular server-controls fine like this:
this.phPopupPlaceholder.Controls.Add(new Label(){ Text = "Label!" });
Can anyone explain to me why regular controls are loaded fine, but my usercontrol isn't loaded?

"n" depend on the number of records pulled from the database.

All the UserControls are added in a single column. (Issue, if n = 50, it looks very poor since half of the page is empty)
I want to add in multiple columns (eg if n=30; 10 in each column).
I am not using GridView or MultiView because user actually does need to modify any data.

Dec 16, 2010On one of my pages I've got a popup window implemented using the ModalPopupExtender. The content html of the popup is retrieved from a webservice dynamically (using DynamicServicePath, DynamicServiceMethod properties of the extender). Everything works fine, however there is a minor problem: web service call takes about 2 seconds and the popup panel is blank during this time, which confuses the users. I would like to display 'Loading...' message in the popup window (or an animated image, does not really matter) during the webservice call. Is there a way to do it?

I'm going to have only one ASPX page splitted into two columns. On the left column is going to be a TreeView, and on the right column is going to be something to edit treeview's nodes.
When the user can select a treeview's node to edit on the right column. Depending on the node's depth fields on right column will vary.
I wondering to use ASCX controls and load on right column dinamically using AJAX, for example. Is there a better choice? Can I do that?
I don't want to reload the entire page when the user wants to edit a treeview's node. Maybe I'm going to need an UpdatePanel on the right column to load dinamically ASCX controls, isn't it?

I have developed a base class and a set of common controls. Currently, they allowed to be loaded dynamically in a control or ASCX via callback event using sample server side code. Control library code will automatically register javascript and render it on client browser. These controls worked fine in both callback and postback. To load dynamically from an ASCX file.

Sep 7, 2010I have a modalpopup extender that is brought up if the user presses a button. This is fine and the user can enter the data. There are a number of textboxes and dropdownlists. However, I have a gridview which I want to bring up modalpopupextender so the user can edit an entery. How can I set the data to the controls? A dynamicpopulate extender will repopulate the modalpopupextender with all the data. It doesn't make sense for me. Is there anyway I can populate the data with c#? Also can I assign two buttons to call the modalpopupextender?

Nov 22, 2010I am using the code below to recreate a modalPopup window. At each UpdatePanel refresh I "lose" the window but I recreate it again after my Panel is updated. This gives me the impression that the windows is always open. The only problem is after I drag and drop it to a different location, the window is recreated back in its original location:

On step 3 above I need to find a way to save the current window position BEFORE UpdatePanel is called and apply the saved position AFTER the UpdatePanel call is finished.

Mar 17, 2011I've a ASP.Net page (Default.aspx) which will load UserControl (ucontrol.ascx) dynamically into an UpdatePanel. By using UpdatePanel, we believe we're able to prevent the entire page to be posted-back.
My problem is, within the UserControl, we have some form controls, such as inputs and buttons; after the UserControl is loaded, clicking on any button inside the UserControl will cause the UpdatePanel to be blanked. During the investigation, I found that, breakpoints within the Button1_Click() in the code-behind for the UserControl is never reached. Please reference to the code below, this references to [REFERENCE]1.

Is what I'm trying to do even possible? If so, how I can try and do it?

Jan 23, 2011Situation: I have a drop down list which I need to pass on to a webservice on button click. I am using Sys.Net.WebServiceProxy.Invoke to make webservice call.
Everything is happening inside a usercontrol which loads on runtime using dynamicpopulate extender.
I get following error:
Sys.InvalidOperationException: Cannot serialize object with cyclic reference within child properties.
Situation: Usercontrol also has a listview which is bound to dataset. However on calling listview.DataBind() in side the webservice method.
I get following error:
The ListView control 'ProductsListView' does not have a naming container. Ensure that the control is added to the page before calling DataBind.
There is no problem when call to service method is parameter less and listitem is not bound.
