How do I remove the error message below in order to view the HoverMenu sample found in the ASP.Net Ajax Control ToolKit?Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. i install the Ajaxtoolkit but any time i try to use any control in this case tab control give's me this report.

I just installed Ajax Toolkit. The controls are available in my Toolbox, but when I insert them in a page, Visual Studio underlines them with the error message "unknown server tag".
I googled the problem and found several ideas :
check if the DLL is in Bin folder check if ajaxToolKit tags prefix is registered in web.config and make sure I'm not using a different prefix in my pages check if the DLL is registered in the pages with <% @ Register ... %>
Unfortunately all of this is fine, but I still can't get the controls to work. Is something else missing ?
EDIT : My environment is ASP.Net 2.0, Ajax Extensions 1.0, Ajax Toolkit 1.0.20229, Visual Studio 2005

So my asp.net is very very rusty, and i'm trying to get back into best practices and what not. So, I whip out google and start looking for examples and samples and tutorials, but what do I find? Old crusty stuff that tends to be written even before "the latest" technology was released back in the stone age.Sure, the concepts may still hold up. But the actual implementations are basically useless. I'm looking for something using Linq, n-layers (not tiers. Tiers can be a layer, but a layer is not necessarily a tier) some kind of current ORM (L2S, EF, etc..) and some real-world stuff, not abitrary and useless examples.

I backported MVC musicstore sample in codeplex to .NET 3.5
From VWD2010 IDE it runs OK, uses ASP.NET web server.
I published it to local file system. Web.config file included in musicstore source code is present in root.
Typing http://localhost in browser returns error
HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.

On one server I have my ASP.NET 3.5 website running just fine. That server is the one we use for testing (IIS6 with ASP.NET 2.0.50727). I went to the live server where ASP.NET is also installed (IIS6 with ASP.NET 2.0.50727). I right-clicked on the folder I wanted my website to go in, and I set it as an application in IIS. But when I go to the website on the live server, I get the Runtime Error. Like the error told me to do, customErrors mode is "Off" in the web.config file. I even changed authentication mode to "None" (it was set to Windows on the test server). Yet I still get this error. Is there something I should change about the web.config file? Is there something I should check in IIS?
For reference, here is the full error message. Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application.
