Nov 28, 2010I am trying to write a page that dynamically changes the options of one drop down based off the selected item in another one. I have varified the AJAX calls are happening correctly and vaified the root problem is that the new selected value of the dropdown is not being read during the AJAX postback. The code I am using is:

ddlGameName is the dropdown that the user selects from which calls the postback and then updates another dropdown. I can place a label in the updatepanel and assign the test as ddlGameName.SelectedValue.toString() and it will always read the first item in the drop down no matter which is selected. So how can I get it to read the updated selectedValue?

Feb 10, 2010I have a list with 2 sorts of items. Items that have actual values (1,2,3,4 etc) and items that are like group headings so all their values are set to 0. If someone decides to select a group heading - which has a value of 0, is it possible to redirect them to my 'Select an item' item which has a value of ""?
If worse comes to worse, I can just reconstruct the entire list, although if possible I'd like to avoid it.

Jul 4, 2010I am trying to get a drop down and a form view to work together. I've never used form views before. I also am using the entity framework to do everything. This is also my first time with it.
I want to be able to have a drop down, that is populate from the same data source as the form view. So far that works fine.
I then want to be able to change the drop down item, and it change the form view item that is displayed. I cannot figure out how to make this work.

Mar 26, 2010Alright heres my scenario. I click on an event and a new aspx page opens. I have two drop down lists and three text boxes. All populated with the data from the database. But when the page opens the drop down lists always show the item that is at the top of the list. Not the actual item that is in the database.
So say the name John should be there in one and a car names honda. But instead it shows alex and acura. These are just examples. But it alwasy starts with the item at the top

Jul 23, 2010I'm using Model-View-Presenter framework. When Loading a page, I'm having trouble setting the selected item that came from the Database.
In view, I know I need:

presenter.DdlStatusSelectedIndexChanged();
// what should this pass?
}
Then in Presenter:
public void DdlStatusSelectedIndexChanged()

view.DdlStatus = ???

I also think that part of my problem is that DdlStatus I have as a List.

Feb 17, 2010I'v been looking for ages on how to get the current selected menu item into a label. so for example on the menu you have home and about, if i click on about it will but the text "About" in the labels text whats in the body of the form. You could say its a sub heading and i would like to do this in c# ;) somthing like this:

except this retutns the tabpage title not the actual menu item i selected.

If the user does not select an item I get an exception when i call the ObjectDataSource Method and DAL as below to insert into database

What I want to do is insert a database NULL instead.

Jun 15, 2010n a form I have multiple group of controls which are grouped using validation group property. I want to assign validation group to asp.Button dynamically on client side using javascript on the base of item selected in drop down list.
Here is JavaScript which I am using, but it is not working. It shows validation group undefined but actually a default group is defined.

1. User selects a State from the first combobox. This triggers the City combobox to be populated. The item(0) is "Select One:".
2. I want the entire "Select One:" to be hightlight as if the user had used their mouse and highlighted all the text.
The reason for this that I'd like the user to be able to start typing the city without needing to clear out the "Select One:" manually.

Feb 16, 2011i am running with an unfamilier issue with jquery ajax and wcf service . i have created a simple wcf service and trying to show it on a asp.net label... the wcf service just returns a string which has to b shown on a label. the url has been set on jquery ajax url to call the wcf service using rest. but somehow i am not getting the desired thing done . the ajax cannot retrieve the data from the wcf service , here are the code snippets.

Apr 6, 2010I'm building a WebControl for user registration. To expedite its use checks I used clientside validation through AjaxControlToolkit.ValidatorCalloutExtender. The validation is triggered when REGISTER button is pressed and popup information for missing or incorrect fields is showed. But I have a problem about a cascading dropdownlist(DDL) [Country]>>[City], because during the client-side validation I'm no more able to refresh my City DDL depending on the new selected Country. Server side, SelectedIndexChanged event is triggered but the DDL in the browser is not refreshed! (The DDL Country and City are Causevalidation=false) This occurs for each control on the page changed by server during client-side validation. How can I fix?
