AJAX :: Developing A Mozilla Extension - How To Write The Server Side?

Feb 23, 2010

Most of my experience has been developing 'webpages'. Presently, I am developing a mozilla extension which does not support web services, others have suggested to use XMLHttpReqest instead. I have the client side code for it but have no idea on how to write the server side for it.

AJAX :: Developing A Custom Server Control (grid)?

Nov 24, 2010

I am interested in learning how to develop a custom asp.net ajax gridview, and I have obtained some books on the subject, but would still like a quick answer for a question: When developing a custom ajax server control, can I somehow use jquery for the client-side part of the control? Are there any collisions with ASP.NET AJAX framework and are there special requirements (e.g. only available for .NET 4.0 etc.)?I would also appreciate any suggestions on resources from which I can learn more about developing a custom asp.net ajax server control from scratch.

AJAX :: How To Call A Server Side Method From Client Side

Jul 16, 2010

I am using VS2010 and .NET4 for a web app. I have a script manager/update panel that has a couple of grids.

The client just leaves the page opens and views an updated grid every 30 seconds or so.

I want to refresh the grid by calling the server side method to load the grid, but not load the whol page using meta refresh or similar (too much screen flicker and unnecessary bandwith).

Is it possible to set some timer using javascript or something and call a specific server method to refresh controls?

MVC :: Client-side Validation Extension Points?

May 11, 2010

I want/need to modify the mvcClientValidationMetadata before it is passed to the innards of the client-side validation machinery. What would be a good way to accomplish this (server-side or client-side, either way would be fine)? Can one somehow use a specialized FormContext (and override GetJsonValidationMetadata) or ViewContext - if so how? Or would it be better/easier to modify the mvcClientValidationMetadata on the client?

AJAX :: Server And Client Side Timeouts - Server Timeout Not Triggering?

Nov 22, 2010

We have an UpdatePanel that is showing a gridview with loads of data in it. We have loads of well written sprocs that don't take very long, BUT we have a few horrible ones that take ages.

We do intend to rewrite them but in the interim we have put the ADO.NET commandtimeout up to 180s. The scriptManager.AsyncPostBackTimeout is set to 240s. We want to handle this on the serverside. One of the reports still fails (it's got a couple of nested cursors in it - someone who hasn't had SQL lesson 101 from me!).

Half the time, the nice error timeout message is shown using server side handling of the command timeout. The problem is that the other half of the time the commandtimeout doesn't seem to fire.

Developing With SQL Server 2005 And Deploying To SQL Server 2000

I'm currently developing a web application using SQL Server 2005, ASP.Net MVC, ASP.Net SQL Membership Provider (for authentication and authorisation), and Linq to SQL. Everything works great and is running as planned in the development environment. However, the production environment has a SQL Server 2000 installation, and we are unable to obtain a copy of SQL Server 2000 to use in development.Upon deploying the web application to the the production environment, what options do I have for migrating the database (schema + data) from 2005 to 2000?

AJAX :: Unable To Display CollapsiblePanelExtender In Mozilla?

Apr 9, 2010

I have a Collapsable panel which I have placed inside another panel.

When this renders I can see the title panel, but the content panel does not appear at all. When I look at this content through Firebug it's greyed out. However if I then look at the CSS for this generated Div I can make the panel appear one of two ways:

Disable the setting "overflow-y: hidden" and then the panel displays below the title panel

Add the line: "float: left" to the div and this then displays it.

This div is created by the CollapsiblePanelExtender itself and I don't know how to control this myself when rendering the page. I can set the float in the panel itself, but this is inside the Div created by the control and doesn't seem to affect it's running.

This works perfectly fine in i.e.

Here's the code
