AJAX ::install Guide For Newbies On Codeplex Site ?
Mar 2, 2010
I have googled,read the faq above,and none of it helps.I have downloaded the latest version of ajax control kit,and followed all tutorials on installing,the download zip file does not have any dll called 'ajaxcontrolkit.dll'in the bin folder or in any other folder , there is no vsi file in the download I got from codeplex page,http://www.codeplex.com/AjaxControlToolki in the bin folder is SDRServerControls.dll and SDRServerControls.dll which I have tried 'adding' to a new tab using browse when adding controls form within visual studio toolbox tab,there also appears to be no install guide for newbies on codeplex site or in the download zip file itself? All tutorials seem to point to ajaxcontroltoolkit.dl,but it is not in the zip file you download from the above page,which seems to be the homepage that everything points to to get started with the toolkit.

I'm about another 5 hours down the road into trying to use another ASP.NET control that should be amazingly simple yet for whatever reason I can't seem to get to work.
The StaticSelectedStyle property of a Menu control as described here: [URL]
I can't make it work. I've read forum posts that say it won't work unless I bind the menu controls to a sitemap. I've done that and it doesn't work.
I've gone so far as to copy the example code on [URL] and paste it verbatum into a new aspx page in brand new projects in both VS2005 and VS2010 beta and I STILL can't get it to work (after altering the NavigateUrl of one of the menu items to be the page that the code was sitting on...e.g.
[Code]....
If Microsoft's own example code won't even work I'm not sure I'm feeling very hopeful here. It seems entirely stupid to have to go create my own navigation menu when the Menu control does 98% of what I need it to do (except highlight when it's on the selected page).

I have a number of .NET websites that I have to FTP to the same server from time to time. They all make use of AjaxControlToolkit.dll.Is there a way I can register AjaxControlToolkit.dll on the server somehow so I don't need to keep FTPing AjaxControlToolkit.dll to the server for each of the websites that gets built/published.

When I downloaded the Ajax Tool Kit 3.5 and extracted the files, I then opened a site and went to the design view of a aspx page and clicked in the tool box, added a new catagory called tookit and then right clicked and selected "Choose Items". Everytime I've done this it closes out MS Studio 2008 Pro? Can someone tell me what to do? I need that ajax tool kit for future projects on the web, and for one that I'm just starting on now

Using Visual Studio 2010 and .Net 4I have used the ModalUpdateProgress (ajaxcontrols.dll) which is not part of the toolkit. I have also used a calendar extender on another page which of course installs the ajaxcontroltoolkit.Problem is that the install of the ajaxcontroltoolkit has stopped the ModalUpdateProgress from working.Anyone have a clue as to where to start to solve this?

I've gone through the process of installing the environment of a large project which I'm involved with, on a new machine with Win7 32bit and Visual Studio 2008.I HAVE to install ASP.NET Ajax Extensions but being so old at it is, it requires .Net Framework 2.0 or 3.0 instaled. The installers of 2.0 or 3.0 will not install and I just get a massage that I need to install them (2.0 or 3.0) through the Windows Components dialog ("Turn Windows features on and of" dialog). This is not possible because the only framework available there is 3.5.1 which is no good for the Ajax Extensions.Removing the 3.5.1 in order to install 2.0 or 3.0 doesn't work either and result in the same massage.Since Microsoft haven't yet come up with some new extension package (as far as know), I'm stuck in a dead end. What do I do?

Is there a component I have to install on my IIS web server to support use of AJAX in projects developed in VS 2008 with the AJAX Controls and Extensions? I downloaded the AJAX Control Toolkit Extensions binary but there's no installable file.ASP.NET AJAX features require that the System.Web.Extensions assembly be installed in the global assembly cache (GAC) of the server where the Web application is hosted. If the assembly is available, your application and any associated controls in the App_Code folder or in an assembly the Bin folder can use AJAX features. For example, they can register scripts or createUpdatePanel controls.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb907614.aspx

I am completing a website on which a single object is sold. I want to put the simplest PayPal button. I created the code of the button using the instructions on pp19 to 21 of "Website Payments Standard Integration Guide".
The code that was created was :
<code>
<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_s-xclick">
<input type="hidden" name="hosted_button_id" value="123456789">

<img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_GB/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" height="1">

(I have altered the value value just for this post)
The HTML of the payment page is :

I follow the instruction from this video http://www.asp.net/ajax/videos/how-do-i-use-the-aspnet-ajax-cascadingdropdown-control-extender to create a new web site but I do not see "Ajax control toolkit web site" template to choose after clicking File>New>Web site.
I have AjaxCtrlToolKit4_0 on the machine and in my other project/solution I controls under Ajax Toolkit in the Toolbox. That means I have the Ajax Toolkit. Why doesn't it allow me to create a "Ajax control toolkit web site"?
Another question is do I need to create a separate web site for ajax web service? I already have a web app under a solution. I have a page in this app. This page has some controls such as dropdowns, textboxes, etc. I want to make the dropdowns cascading and do not want to create a separate web site. But the example in the video requires a creation of a new "Ajax control toolkit web site" which includes .asmx file.

I'm using VS2008, and I've got 10 ASP.NET 3.5 sites which all have a virtual directory which maps to one ASP.NET 3.5 subsite.
I'm trying to get a WCF service to work with client-side ajax on the subsite. I've modified my web.config file on the subsite to use baseAddressPrefixFilters, but I can't get this to work with every site. For example, I can add an entry for one site, but the ajax calls will only work for that one site. All the other sites will fail.
