View 8 RepliesYou've probably noticed that when you debug an error which comes from an ASPX or ASCX file (literally, not from a corresponding code-behind file), ASP.NET displays an error page showing you the source file and the line on which the error occurs. The source file being displayed is automatically generated from parsing the page/control. The question is: how can I see this source file without purposely causing an exception?
I'd love to hear that there is some programmatic way (the complexity doesn't matter) to generate source files (preferrably, .cs) from a series of ASPX/ASCX files.
Example. Consider the following ASPX page (the code-behind file may even be absent):
<%@ Page Language="C#"%>
<%@ Register Assembly="AspxGen" Namespace="AspxGen" TagPrefix="ag" %>
<html>
<head><title>Some Title</title></head>
<body>
[Code]....
d:DevAspxGenAspxGenDefault.aspx(9,80): error CS0103: The name 'ThereIsNoSuchProperty' does not exist in the current context
This means, theoretically I can open the .CS files passed to the compiler (namely, App_Web_sqj3krv3.0.cs and App_Web_sqj3krv3.1.cs) and see what ASP.NET has generated from my ASPX markup. Trying to rephrase the previous question: how can I obtain this file from an arbitrary ASPX file (assuming that the file is correct and hence no info will be given on where to search)?
Recently, I have read an excellent tutorial from asp.net, MVC music store.
I have discover that we can access to variable in strongly typed views like this:
[Code]....
It is very powerful!
Can we do the same with Web Form in aspx pages?
I ask this question because I think that ASP controls for data are very strict like gridview; in fact my real problem is that I want to make a loop in my apsx code and I think that I can't in Web form...
I want to call a function present in code behind from front page (html : source code)
i want to use like this:
Source code
<a href='<%# linkAlpha("B").ToString()) %>' title="B" id="B_List" runat = "server">B</a>
Code Behind
protected string linkAlpha(string value)
{
// /market-research/<%#Eval("customname")%>/
string str = "";
if (Request.Url.DnsSafeHost == "localhost")
{ // /market-reports/<%# Eval("customname")%>/
str = "Alpha_Category.aspx?q=" + value.ToString().Trim();
// Response.Redirect("Alpha_Category.aspx?q=" + value.ToString().Trim());
}
else
{
// str = "/market-reports/" + value.ToString().Trim() + "/";
str = "/Alpha_Category.aspx?q=" + value.ToString().Trim();
}
return str;
}
I am having an issue with one of my projects where I get the HTML source code from the page. I usually use the URL string and a Get method to get the source code like below:
[Code]....
The problem is that the page I am working with currently actually does a page redirect using a javascript function on the page like so:
[Code]....
I have been trying to figure out how to read in the the first page's HTML source code, post that HTML source back so it redirects, and then get the second page's HTML source code.
I have a few pages in my web application where I would like to be able to use the code-behind of a master file, but not 'inherit' any of the other stuff like asp/html markup etc.
View 5 RepliesI need to display a control consistently across a set of pages. So I'm using a MasterPage to do that in ASP.NET/C#. However I also need to programmatically access this control, mostly provide options to view/hide depending on whether the controls checkbox is clicked.
Here is the Source for the MasterPage
<div id="verifyInitial" runat="server">
<asp:CheckBox ID="chkInitialVerify" runat="server"
oncheckedchanged="chkInitialVerify_CheckedChanged" />
I agree that my initial data is correct.
</div>
<div id="verifyContinuous" runat="server">
<asp:CheckBox ID="chkContinuousVerify" runat="server"
oncheckedchanged="chkContinuousVerify_CheckedChanged" />
I agree that my continuous data is correct
</div>
Now in the code behind I want to perform the following operations. Basically if a person clicks on the checkbox for the initial div box, then the initial box disappears and the continous box shows up. However it seems that the code behind for the MasterPage does not activate whenver I click on the checkbox. Is that just the way MasterPages are designed? I always thought you could do add some sort of control functionality beyond utilizing the Page Load on the Master Page.
protected void chkInitialVerify_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
verifyContinuous.Visible = true;
verifyInitial.Visible = false;
}
protected void chkContinuousVerify_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
verifyContinuous.Visible = false;
}
how to make my source code to display on one line instead of multiple in source view. The display drives me batty when I'm trying to find something and I would prefer to display across the page instead of multiple lines down the page.

How to get this task? Please do share with me? Here is the OK code:

Web service error response (code/message etc) would you store it in a database? or would you keep the error response in a method.By the time I'm done with this, there will be hundreds of error response, maybe in the future, thousands? (I dont know yet, depends how large this web service grows).EDIT: error response is the response returned back to the application via the web service, (not to be confused with error logging).
View 1 RepliesIf the answer to this question exists somewhere, I'm no good at searching for it. This is sort of a simple question, the response being two parts: (1) is it possible? (2) if so, how?
I've created a web user control for my site's footer. In my web.config I have it registered like this:
[Code]....
Then, within the pages on my site, I simply insert it like this:
[Code]....
But obviously, that didn't work. I get this error: The type or namespace name 'FooterControl' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
So I'm really not sure what to do at this point. I can put all of my code in the ASPX file and make my life easier, but I would kind of prefer not to.
I have a nested master page that has its own master page. The parent master page has a property defined in its code behind.
Public ReadOnly Property SelectedPage() As String
Get
Return _selectedPage
End Get
End Property
How can I reference the parent master page's property from within either the child master page's code behind Page_Load or aspx template page?

View 1 Replieshow to generate HTML code from the code behind?
I would like to build a form that generate an html code inside a for loop.
I will let the user enter the photo name and No. of photos
Then I will generate an HTML code like this:
<a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(1).jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(1).jpg" alt="" width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br /> <a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(2).jpg" target="_blank">
<img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(2).jpg" alt="" width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br /> <a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(3).jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(3).jpg" alt=""
width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br />
depending on the No. of the photos the code will be duplicated in the loop
Then I will display the result of the loop in label or in a textarea to let the user copy it any where
The problem is that while compiling my code it considers the HTML code as a part of the behind file and gives errors on the single quote, the double quote and on the parentheses
I have a page with a Textbox, a Button and a Label control. On Button_Click event , I store the value of Textbox in a variable called S using code behind.
I want to show the value of S in the Lable control using inline code but not using the code behind. ?
I'm using CRv9 and want to make use of Google Charts API for generating QR code on fly (in asp .net) and display it in the Crystal Report in a PDF format.I have spent the whole day looking for solution with no luck. The way we output the report is we use .rpt file, feed it with data and use Response.OutputStream to feed to browser. No CrystalReportViewer control hence CSS solution is not an option.
Now, I got as far as added an OLE Object from file with Link, which I would be overwriting every time the new QR code is generated. I apreciate that CR requires it to be a bitmap, so I was planning to download and convert the google's generated PNG file to BMP, that's not an issue. The problem is that Image in the report does not update after I replace the file. Meaning, it displays the original image, which was added as an OLE Object.
If I open this report in CR designer, the image gets refresh/updated and I'd have to save changes to the report to see this new image next time I generate a PDF file.The question is really how to achieve a dynamic image in Crystal Reports 9? Remember, Picture object did not have a Graphic Location property until vXI, so I cannot use that.
Manipulations with DataSets is not an option either as we're not giving report a datasource, instead we just map the fields with FormulaFieldDefinitions.

I know I can load the symbols for the class but i can't get it to work. I tried everything so i give up.
I only need the code for this class. It's because i am using a custom script manager and i must know how the .net one works.
Out of all the projects that contribute to MVC, I've added only the System.Web.Mvc project to my solution and I'm having trouble with the compilation of the aspx files. Firstly the page compiler complained that ViewResult<T> (which my View inherits from) was specified in two assemblies - the copy in the source code and the one in the GAC. I fixed this by changing my copy of the source code to a higher version and referencing the different verison within the 'compilation' tag in web.config. (In fact you can just delete the assembley reference altogether and it automatically uses the one in the solution.) Then it complained that Html helper methods couldn't find classes such as 'Controller'. Now I think this is because the official MVC assemblies in the GAC are looking for the correct version of 'System.Web.Mvc' (i.e. the one with the right public key) but my app is no longer referencing it.
I thought I'd fixed this with an assembley redirect to my version of the code but now the View templates are complaining about inheriting from classes that are in an assembley with the wrong public key.So is what I'm doing possible or do I need to be recompiling all of the MVC source code?
i have a website i wont to sell how i can protected it and install it without the source code is that possible
