Is it a parameter to configure on the server ? Is it cached somewhere on the computer of the users ?

Jul 2, 2010I have developed a web application which has LDAP authentication implemented.When I run the application though visual studio it works fine , LDAP works perfectly and allows if login name and password are correct.
If the same application is hosted on IIS server 6.0, LDAP queries fail to work. What could be the reason for the same ?

I had success to check the user and password in VS 2008, but when I publish to server it don't work, (they can login even wrong username and password) I had enable the anonymous access and intergrated windows authentication on IIS. we using authentication mode = windows in our web.config
using something like the following to check the AD account

Feb 8, 2011I am new to LDAP so it is a bit confusing for me. I am converting a Legacy application from ASP to ASP.Net. That application is using LDAP so i have to find an alternative/equivalent of this.
My questions are:
1- LDAP is still used or obselete?
2- Equivalent/alternate of this?
3- How it is different from?
4- How can i setup a small test LDAP server if i have to test it locally ?
5- Any examples/source code/tutorials?
I have googled it and i know the basic concept of LDAP but i was unable to get the proper answer for all of the above.

Although so far I have managed to connect to the ldap server and get the user's info like sn, givenname, description, mail, adspath,
I have absolutely no information about the user's groups.
My code is like this:

Now, if I leave out the "title" and the "sAMAccountName" from my select it works fine. I am trying to get records where the "title" is not empty and name matches my prefix.

The page renders but when i enter my username into the Username textBox and hit the submit button (Which calls IsUser) I just get "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted." Apr 28, 2010Basically I'm trying to create a SharePoint farm and I want my SharePoint main (WFE) server to "not" be a D.C.I've already got a DC up and running with Active Directory. Usually when I link another server via DCpromo, that links AD automatically. However, it's not recommended for the SharePoint servers to be on D.C.s. Instead of running DCpromo, I went to My Computer>properties>remote settings>(system properties window)>computer name tab>click the "Change" button>change the server name / click on the Domain Radial Button instead of Workgroup, type the Domain Name. Assuming all connections are set up properly, it soon says "welcome to XYZ.com domain" or something like that. Just after installing SharePoint, I noticed that the server isn't linked to AD, but it's using it's local users and groups settings in "Administrative tools>Computer Management." I have the Active Directory Role installed, but it has a Red X in server manager, and it won't let me enable it. I'm not sure why.

And if users are members of a special group then it works.

My point is : my ldap path seems good, no error anymore, when I log with my username and password.But when I querry it, it returns null, but I'm sure my user is in the group :
