Adding A Line To A Gridview That Is Databinded C#?
Apr 9, 2010
I have a GridView that displays the results from a Query that is Databound.
How can I manually add a new line or row after the Query does its databind, so that it will display in the GridView.
e.g. One of the column names is "FirstName", I'd like to add a new row in the "FirstName" column with a value of "Test".

I might be just blind (very possible!) but i can't find any information on here/Google anywhere that me out at all :( First up, below is the code i'm using to send the email message:
MailMessage newMM = new MailMessage();
newMM.To.Add(new MailAddress(userEmail));
newMM.From = new MailAddress(getFrom, getFromName);
newMM.IsBodyHtml = true;
newMM.Subject = userSubject;
newMM.Body = userHTML;
if (chkEncoding.Checked)
{
newMM.BodyEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8;
newMM.SubjectEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8;
}
NetworkCredential basicAuthenticationInfo = new NetworkCredential(mUsername, mPassword);
SmtpClient smtp = new SmtpClient(mServer);
smtp.DeliveryMethod = SmtpDeliveryMethod.Network;
smtp.UseDefaultCredentials = false;
smtp.Credentials = basicAuthenticationInfo;
smtp.Send(newMM);
Which sends fine, and does UTF8 fine when enabled etc... however in the resulting email i get this (UTF8 or not):
MIME-Version: 1.0
From: "The name i want"
<fromname@fromdomain.com>
To: someone@atadomain.com
And this is from checking the files in MSSMTP Queue folder, so it seems to me its .NET adding the line break in or MSSMTP doing it when it receives the email.

My datalist will not have any borders. The only line that will be displayed in the datalist is a solid horizontal line after each row.
I tried setting the border of the datalist to "0px none Red" and then set the GridLines to "Horizontal", but this only works in Firefox. IE8 draws the line in barely visible grayish color, an Chrome ignores the border attributes altogether and draws all the horizontal lines.

I have a datalist on my page that allows a user to build up with orders. Each time an order is added I post back to the server, updated a dataset and then bind the dataset to the datalist.
I would rather do this on the client, for performance reasons.
Does anyone know of a way I can add a row to a datalist via javascript/jquery?
I understand this may not be possible using a datalist, so any other type of client side list tool.

I am using a textbox to populate mySQL database. My problem is when I recall the text it displays without line brakes or line spacing, inserted in the input textbox. I have tried all the field types i.e. Text, Small, Medium Text and Chars. I have tried gridview, repeater and datalist all displaying continuous text without line brakes.

I insert a text box, change the parameters to multi line and then pass the string to sql. Users insert comments etc, using line breaks, however because I just pass this as a string the line breaks are not there when they view the text box after input. Example: Here is a well formatted comment. as I typed in the text box today. Inserted in to sql as a string, returns this on select:
Here is a well formatted comment.as I typed in the text boxtoday. How do I insert the line breaks in the string from a textbox?

I have a ASP.NET gridview (embedded into a DIV) with several columns. For some columns line wraps are definied and for some not(with ItemStyle.Wrap = true/false). For all columns ItemStyle.Width is set to a specific value. Now I am wondering, that there is a line wrap in a column, where ItemStyle.Wrap = false. What could be the reason for that?
