I am using third party component for printing purposes (Combit list and label). There is dll which has function for printing. (means it suppresses the print dialgue box and have information embedded in a file about the printer location). The printer is shared printer and attached to machine which is different from the development machine. Now the printing from this printer works fine during debugging. But when I publish the pages in virtual directory and then executing the application does not print. (pages are also published on the development machine).

I have a solution that has 2 projects in it... Project #1 is a class I created some time back to deal with the basic data connection and passing data back and forth.
The 2nd project is the new current project (web site).
Everything works fine in local mode but after I have compiled Project #1 and created a referance in Project #2 then compiled Project #2 and published to the server...
I am running on Windows 7 64bit, .NET 4.0, Access 2010, SQLExpress (loging only), C#... I have rebuilt Project #1 several times as an x86, AnyCPU, and x64... they all give the same result...
I get the following error when the web site is run.

I have an ASp.net application using C#. I need to copy a file present on the web server machine to a remote machine on the network. Although this seems to be a trivial matter I am having difficulties copying the exe I am Trying
string Source = @"c: emp est.exe"
string Destination = @"Z: est.exe"
File.Copy(Source, Destination, true)
Z: is mapped to the Remote machine network drive. I am able to physically copy files to this drive from the Web Server machine, but when I try from ASp.net, I get the following error System.Io.Exception: Logon Failure: unknown user name or bad password
I think it has to do with the Web Server using the ASPNET user , which does not have the right credentials on the remote machine. I do not know how to solve this issue I tried using WMI too, I was able to copy files from one directory to another directory on the remote machine, but not from the Web Server machine to Remote machine

When a user opens the my web app then immediately opens clicks on a button to open another, related page (page opens in a separate window (users choice) via a button), the new page opens fine. If a user open the my web app and waits a bit (usually abouta minute) before clickin on the button to open another page, they get the 'Page Not Found' error. When I run this app locally (local host), I have no problems.the server can handle, why does this happen only after the user waits to open the other page.

So my website works great on my local computer. It also works fine when I use the Copy Web Site feature in Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. But I do not want all of my files and the default.aspx to be sitting at the root of my domain name. I want it to be in a subfolder.
So again, it works fine when it's sitting at www.domainname.com
But when I use my FTP program to move the files to:
www.domainname.com/subfolder/
I get an error when I try to visit the site. It's just a general runtime error and does not display the specific error message. It obviously must have something to do with when I MOVE the files/folders from the root of the domain to the subfolder?

I have a hosted site and just added some additional error notification to my global.asax file and works like a charm. I decided to add the same logic to our test server and it doesnt work. The server.transfer never happens and the email never gets updated. Now i know the email works on the test and production server since we have other pages that use the same SMTP server name and setup as i have in the global file. Below is my code as it is in the file now. I setup a test page to cause an error and the page displays the detailed error which we dont want. But i would like to be notified if this happens. What am i missing? I can only assume that its a IIS confige issue, since the exact same code works on a hosted site, but not at work on our test or production servers. Here is the code i have in the global.asax

Does anyone know how to use httpcontext.response.transmitfile or any other httpcontext function to download a file from a network drive instead of local drive?
When I tried to use context.Response.TransmitFile(DownloadPath) to download files, the DownloadPath has to be local drive. If it's a network drive, the download failed.

I'm finishing up my first web service. It stores data on a dataset that I later need to check up on, so I need to keep that information around. I've already enabled the session in the web service's method "EnableSession = true" [WebMethod(Description = "Receives status requests, as well as status udpates.", EnableSession = true)]
If I debug the web service everything works but if I try to use the application that sends the requests to the web service while it is published, the session keeps restarting again and again and again.

I have an ASP.NET site I built for our users to map a network printer. When I test it, it maps the printer without any probelms. When I publish it to IIS, it acts like it's going to run, but never tries to map it. I have checked all the permissions, I have tried it as a web app and a web site, I have tried to publish both and I have tried to copy and paste the folders in the root folder. I have added references to the Microsoft.Powershell.XXXX. I have changed it from "CodeBehind" to "CodeFile" and I have changed the "AutoEventWireup" to "true". There are no errors in the event log and none on screen. It clears the fields, like it should at the end of the code and that's it.

There is a hyperlink to a local file...for instance....C:/text.txt. This is not possible, because ASP.net does not allow links to local files. But, links to files on network drives such as W:/test.txt are working ok. how does the browser know which drive letter is local, and which is networked? How does it know that C: is local or D: is local etc, and that W: is a network drive?

I have noticed that when I create a website in a network drive and use the Ajax toolkit I get :
Element 'ToolkitScriptManager' is not a known element
I also noticed that after adding the ToolkitScriptManager it doesn't add the ID in the source code, it looks like this:
<asp:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server"></asp:ToolkisScriptManager>
Is missing the ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" part.
This doesn't happen when I create the site in my local drive. Is there a workaround to this. Even if I add the missing parts, I keep getting the same error.

I created an ASP.NET site in Visual Web devloper 2010 & then published it to our webserver. Due to the nature of the site, there are several users updating the content on the site (e.g. news pages). Is there a simple way to merge these changes back into my project? Can I just copy the published site back over my project folder which should overwrite the aspx pages but leave the code behinds untouched?

I have an asp.net that produces a Word document. I want to allow users to download the file to their local drive. I use a hyperlink to achieve this and it works fine from my development site. However, when the website is accessed from a non development machine, I am sent to the proper directory, but instead of the open/save/cancel dialog I am presented with a "Convert File" dialog. Any of the selected file types I select download unusable files. I think this has to do with office being installed on the local machine on which I am attempting the download. Is there any way I can simply download a file from a virtual file to my local drive?

I'm having an issue that has made me loose too many hours already. My site works fine in VS2008 with SQL Express 2008. However, when I try to deploy the site following these steps:
1. Create a new site IIS 7.0
2. Copy all the files from my code folder to IIS 7.0, (I was planning to delete the code latter)
3. Browse to my Index.aspx
The error message I receive is Cannot open database "AnimalSafe" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNetwork Service'. I've already changed the application pool to use Network Service to authenticate and have made sure that SQL is running under this account.
