Configuration :: Running Two Domains On One GoDaddy Hosting Account

Jul 15, 2010

I have an application in the root. I setup BlogEngine to run in a directory of the account. There is a web config in root and another one in the directory. If I have a Web.Config in the root, then I can run application but not the blog. However, if Idisable the root web.conf then the blog will work and, as expected, the application will not work. How can I get both to work without having to integrate the Blog and the Appication? I understand this is a common problem in GoDaddy's hosting account. Has anyone found a solution?

Configuration :: Deployment To Shared Hosting Godaddy Account

Dec 16, 2010

I have in the past used Godaddy shared hosting with .net 4.0 and had no problems viewing and logging into the administration pages of a asp.net 4.0 website, using the default ASPNETDB.MDF. I don't remember if there was any changes to the web.config file. I can view the site but can't log into the site throws a error which has no detail just the custom error message explaining to change the custom tags for a more detailed message and even then it don't work get same message.

Configuration :: To Deploy Dundas Charts In .aspx To Godaddy Hosting Account, But They Are Not Showing Up

Jan 20, 2010

I am trying to deploy Dundas charts in .aspx to my Godaddy hosting account, but they are not showing up. The Dundas support team said I need to do the following:

If you are not using BinaryStreaming, the ASPNET user must have enough rights to write temporary images on the server's Hard drive.If using Windows 2003, the IIS_WPG user requires Write and Modify permissions.

However, of course the Godaddy support team told me I need a dedicated server to do those things. We are on a tight budget and I have to work with what I have now.

SQL Reporting :: Report Viewer On A GoDaddy Shared Hosting Account

Oct 31, 2010

I contacted GoDaddy and they informed me that their Shared Hosting accounts only allow partial trust and Report viewer requires Full Trust and therefore I cannot use Report Viewer on my website. (nor do they know of any report tool that will work on their site) I just have a hard time believing that of all the accounts on Godaddy that NO ONE is running any kind reports, I can see some uses for databases with no reporting needed, but not as many as need reporting. Just a quick question, has anyone been succesful with a report tool that will work on GoDaddys shared hosting environment ?

Configuration :: Set Up Multiple Websites In Godaddy's 4G Hosting?

Mar 23, 2011

I just upgraded to windows 4G hosting from old windows hosting on Godaddy. I have hosted multiple websites on this hosting account. The primary domain website [URL] is working fine after the upgrade but all other sites hosted in same account report some errors.

The structure is like this:

Root: inHouseRecipes.com
Root/s/Website1
Root/s/Website2

I have checked that the websites in subfolders are set up as an application in IIS 7. Also, the web.config of parent (root) website has the following

<location
path="."
inheritInChildApplications="false"
>

tag to stop other child web.config to inherit anything from parent.

I use asp.net to code my websites. Before 4G upgrade everything used to work like a charm.
Has anybody else also experiences the same issues? If yes, what are the changes that we need to make to support multiple web sites in same 4G hosting account?

Web Forms :: URL Routing On Godaddy With Multiple Domains Hosted?

Dec 7, 2010

I have an Unlimited Hosting account with Godaddy using IIS7 (Shared Hosting). I host multiple domains on this account. I am unable to get URL Routing 4.0 (Non MVC) working on any of the domains that are being hosted. I can get routing to work via the root site, however, I need it to work on specific sites that I host under the root domain.

ie. I have sjfm.org which is hosted on my shared account in the directory sjfmnew

When I place the global.asax file and associated routing page in that directory the routing just shows 404 pages. However, when I place those files under the root site I am able to see the results. how I can get it to show correctly for that one domain?

C# - Configuring MVC ActionLink Format With GoDaddy Shared Hosting

Jun 9, 2010

I have a GoDaddy shared Windows hosting plan and I'm running into a small issue with multiple domains. Many people have previously reported such an issue, but I am not interested in trying to resolve that problem altogether; all I want to accomplish is to change the format of my ActionLinks.

Issue Let's say the domain that is mapped to my root hosting directory is [URL]. GoDaddy forces mapping of other domains to subdirectories of the root. For example, my second domain, [URL], is mapped to [URL]. I uploaded my ASP.NET MVC site to such a subdirectory, only to find that ActionLinks that are for navigation have the following format: [URL] In other words, even when I use the domain that is mapped to the subdirectory, the subdirectory is still used in the URL. However, I noticed that I can also access the same path by going to: [URL] (leaving out the subdirectory) What I want to achieve I want to have my ActionLinks automatically drop the subdirectory, as it is not required. Is this possible without changing the ActionLinks into plain-old URLs?

ManagedFusion Url Rewriting Not Working On Godaddy 4th Generation Hosting?

Feb 4, 2011

I recently switched from Godaddy shared hosting to Godaddy 4th generation hosting or grid hosting.

As per my other question UrlRewriter.NET with .NET 4.0 and Godaddy not working I was unable to get UrlRewriter.NET to work.

So now I have tried ManagedFusion. It works locally but does not work on the Godaddy servers BUT the errors are different and I sense that this might actually work and I have done something wrong in the configuration.

So my web.config settings are (condensed version)

<configuration>
<configSections>
<section name="managedFusion.rewriter" type="ManagedFusion.Rewriter.Configuration.ManagedFusionRewriterSectionGroup"/>

[Code]....

Now this works perfectly fine on my local machine (Visual Studio 2010) but when I upload it to Godaddy servers I get a 404 that says it can't find /Campaign/List.aspx.

And on top of this it also goes to SSL, which I don't want as the SSL cert on that account is for a different subdomain and hence throws an SSL error.

Is there something I am doing wrong? It seems this time the URL module is handling all requests and this looks like I have configured it incorrectly somehow.

C# - Application Running Under A Less Privileged Account Start A Process Executing Another Application Under An Administrative Account?

Mar 9, 2011

I am logged in as the administrator when I installed an application named pdflatex.exe on my server. This application works as a converter from LaTeX input file to Pdf file. I host an Asp.net MVC 3 application running under an Application Pool Identity with Load User Profile = True. The Asp.net MVC 3 code contains a code that executes pdflatex.exe using System.Diagnostic.Process instance as follows:

Process p = new Process();
p.EnableRaisingEvents = true;
p.Exited += new EventHandler(p_Exited);
p.StartInfo.Arguments = "-interaction=nonstopmode " + inputpath;
p.StartInfo.WorkingDirectory = @"c:mydomain.comworking";
p.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
p.StartInfo.FileName = "pdflatex.exe";
p.Start();
p.WaitForExit();

From the scenario above, the web application runs under a restricted acount but it executes an external application under a default account that I don't know. Can an application running under a less privileged account start a process executing another application under an administrative account?

Does this open up a massive secuurity hole etc is it that likely that we are comprimising the network.
