View 3 RepliesI have IIS 7.5 running on windows 7 64 bit machine.
My problem is that in my web application after any page request if the page remains idle for more than 2 mins, it stops responding. For e.g. lets take the following scenario:
1. Initial page request
2. the page stays idle for 2 mins
3. Click a button to save data
4. It takes very long for the aspnet worker process to reach page_load, and firefox shows "connection was reset" message.
I put breakpoint on page_load. It strikes the breakpoint after a long time and also it does not go to the event handler of the button that was clicked.
The web application works perfectly if the page is not kept idle.
I am not using sessions in my web application.
When I Publish my website it takes around an hour and a half. This is publishing to a directory on my local machine, it is not FTP'ing to a remote server. The build seems to take about an hour (when I build without publishing it is noticeably slow, but 5 minutes slow, not an hour), then the publish seems to take a further half an hour.
what could be causing this and how I can improve this? This obviously causes issues when I make a change (I'm constantly updating the site) as I need to wait for an hour an a half. I'm considering not precompiling the site now and simply uploading the .aspx and .cs files direct to the server as this is unmanageable for me.
Whenever I stop debugging an ASP.NET IIS web application it seems to take very long before VS2010 becomes responsive again (2 or 3 minutes). This happens when I close Internet Explorer 9 (which stops the debugging session), stop debugging in VS (which closes the browser) or when I detach the debugger from the debugging menu (which leaves the browser open).
My CPU time for devenv.exe goes up to 25% during this period of time. I use the professional edition (no intellitrace). Starting without debugging performs ok when I close the browser. I have some add-ins and extensions installed like TestDriven.NET, Resharper, PowerCommands, Productivity Power Tools, VisualSVN,...
From time to time my application crashes and I start getting all sorts of weird errors like "object reference not set to an instance of an object", that then turns to "failed to enable constraints..", etc. Sometimes then the application starts to work again properly by itself, and sometimes not until I restart IIS, after which everything is ok again.
View 5 RepliesI am working on a ASP.NET 2.0 application. It is hosted on IIS 6 on Windows 2003 server.
Few pages have jpeg images (around 50 images and 50 KB each). It takes long time to load the page for the first time. But when i open the same page for the second or third time it is faster.
why does a web page take long time to load for the first time?
Is it cached somewhere when it loads for the first time? Do we have any control over it?
I have developed an application in asp.net with crystal report. It has more than 30 pages in the project. Now I want to improve the performance of the application.1. What I need is , I want to know each and every page loading time and where actually it take long time to load while requesting the page. There are so many tools available. But am not able to follow as where actually the problem is and how to solve.

Finally All I need is , upload a web application and SQL server database on development server.
I'm using "VS 2010 Ultimate" "Web Application" project.
The problem is that web application compilation occurs at run-time.
My steps:
1) change Wep Application source code (*.cs files)
2) rebuild "Web Application" in Visual Studio
3) run web site's(mapped under IIS 7.5) start page via browser
4) Problem: CSC.EXE starts compiling wep application for the second time! Despite I've done it on step 2)
What should I do to escape step 4) ? I don't need re-compilation at run-time!
I've tried "to play" with <compilation batch="false" but it seems to be ignored.
I was unable to upload files in a medium trust application and caught security exception.
If I change trust level to full it is working fine, but the hosting environment is set to run only medium trust application.
What are the settings to be done prior to upload files in a medium trust application.
My application is live and it's work perfectly, but some time it's not loading and page is not load in browser but when i RESET iis it will working perfect.
application is in visual studio 2005 and back end is sqlserver 2005.
I am using TFS to build my MVC app. I cannot do it because I get lots of compile errors. I am using version 4 of .Net and MVC 2. On the build server I have the .Net framework 4.0 installed. It has been suggested that I should also download the MVC framework as well, but when I look on the net all I can find is this MVC framework; http://mvcframework.codeplex.com/ which does not seem to be relevant and does not work anyway.
One of the assemblies I am missing on the build server is System.Web.Mvc dll.Typical error messages include; "The type or namespace name 'Mvc' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?)"What do I need to do to fix this?
I have developed a web application in .net & if the web application is idle for some time & after that if we perform some action on that web page then it doesn't respond.
View 1 RepliesI am developing a web application that I want to ensure is properly licensed each time they log into it. This application can either be hosted by my company or hosted at my client's site. I wanted to do this verification via a web service hosted on my company's server, but the problem is if the client's outside internet connectivity is down I still want them to be able to run the application and have it verify when it's back up and running again. How would you propose I do this?
View 2 RepliesIt looks likes if I don't visit my low traffic site for a day, it takes a long time for the first page to load. I believe it's probably because IIS7 shuts down the application when it receives no requests for a certain length of time. I have a dedicated server so I have all the access required to change things in IIS
View 3 RepliesFor some reason it takes 7 seconds to open a connection to a sql server database for the firt time, subsequent connections takes a second.
I'm using C# and asp.net
Its after compilation, i essence every time i restart the site, which means every time it needs to actualy create the "first" connection. i understand that setting up connection pooling has overhead, but i have never seen that i should take 7 second to set it up.
I have tested my pages in Firefox & IE and looking at Firebug in Firefox for some reason some images are taking a long time to load. They are not very big in comparison to the ones which are loading quicker.
Attached is a screenshot of Firebug.
I especially notice it in IE with the progress bar at the bottom of the page, it just sits there saying loading image...
Could it be the path or something which is http://localhost:49211/Content/_layout/images/bg-footer.png for example
my sp take long time to execute. Why that?alter PROCEDURE [dbo].[sp_Util_DocPlanProgess21]

View 1 Replieswhenever I replace a master page on my site the pages load after a few hours(1-2) and only after that the site returned to work as normal.. I dont use VS "open web site" from the web method, instead I download the page I want to change (using flashfxp for instance), make my changes and upload it back. I do this process because every now and then the VS stuck/not responding/think long time. he master pages I change are used by few thousand of pages in the site, my thought is that whenever I change a master all the site get rebuild and therefor the long loading time..
