May 3, 2010I have a set of radio buttons for "yes" and "no" values which have a name="choice". "yes" is checked by default. They're both runat="server". I read the choice on postback like below. It works perfectly fine as long as the validation doesn't fail. For example, if I select "no" and validation fails on postback, I still see "no" selected. But if I submit the form after correcting everything, the value read is "yes" on server side! Is this a bug in .net, and if so, how do i fix this?

Custom Server Controls :: Visible State Of The Div Is Changed In Client Code W/o A Postback?
Mar 11, 2011In ASP .NET 2.0, I've created a user control which is meant to work as a dropdown or popup by using an <input type="button" id="btnTogglePopup" runat="server" style="display:inline"... /> and <div id="divPopup" runat="server" style="display:none" ... /> the rest of the controls are contained inside this div, and they do mantain their values between posts, etc. This button 'runs at server' but it's not intended to post back or submit.It just toggles the popup (div) visible/hidden using Javascript client code by setting the div's style display property to "none" or "block" The problem I'm having is that when a page containing this control posts back, the state visible/hidden of the div is not maintained. If the user had the popup open, after the postback, it will display closed.I've read a bunch by now about ViewState & ControlState, and have the save and load contol state methods working, but when I step thru them they load old values (setting the popup to hidden all the time),and the popup doesn't work! I've come to think that b/c when the button is clicked,the visible state of the div is changed in client code w/o a postback, maybe I have to maintain this state info in a hidden fiel or something like that?At the same time I don't want to have a hidden field if it's unnecessary,and I may just doing something wrong.

Jan 28, 2010I am creating a control that inherits from the RadioButton, so that I can set the GroupName property manually. Everything is working okay apart from the fact that when the page posts back, the RadioButton becomes unchecked if it has previously been checked. This is the first time I've tried inheriting from controls, so must be doing something really silly. I would welcome anyone helping me to improve my code so that the control's Checked value persists through postbacks. I am causing a postback using a button, not the actual RadioButton itself, if that makes any difference. Here is my code:

Feb 25, 2011I have created a really simple custom control to render panels into a page. The code is below. When I use my control and add any webcontrol to it, after each page postback the contents of these child controls vanishes.
I must have missed something really simple but run the example to reproduce this. Can anyone please enlighten me as to why the controls are being 'emptied' of their contents, and how I stop this occuring?

Nov 16, 2010I built a webcontrol showing a complex user interface with a lot of javascript. Basically my webcontrol is similar to : [URL]
Now that most the user interface is working properly, I'm stuck with the following issue: I want to add a button (html button tag) which has to trigger an event. I have been able to declare the event, the event args, the delegate,etc. The page using my control may assign a handler and that handler is called correctly when I explicitely call OnServerControlClick (The name I gave to the event). I cannot make the link between the button in the user interface and the event in the webcontrol source code. When the button is clicked, I get an error message saying a dangerous Request.Form value has been detected.

now want to insert the custom dropdown button using server control for each column.
when i select the dropdown list the list should display the value as required.
e.g if i click the uname dropdownlist then it should show the list of names.
if i click on pwd dropdownlist then it should show the list of numbers.
if i select any one of the value in the dropdown list then it should insert into the
database.

I have the code below, which allows me to put that markup on the page without throwing any errors, and it renders all the correct HTML, except it doesn't render the contents of the ColumnTemplate. I have replaced the Render() code with a comment because it's quite long winded and doesn't add anything important here:

I have tried to follow examples on MSDN and other forums but I can't make this work. I think I'm missing the code to render the contents of the template, but I don't know how to hook that up.

Oct 18, 2010There is button(btnOpen) and a textbox (txtResult) in the page.
Once I clicked on btnOpen, a modal dialog will appear, displaying TextBox1 and Button1.
The user is required to type something in TextBox1 and I want to pass the TextBox1.Text into my database but when I try to do that, the value actually = "", which is gone.
So I created this test program to illustrate by passing the value into a txtResult.
Can anyone guide me on getting the TextBox1.Text value?
Besides that, is there anyone to tell more about what does this lines of code do?

I have tried suggestions from the following websites:[URL] But after following the directions, If I use firebug to see what errors show up, the JavaScript functions that are being called all say "goNext is not defined" which leads me to believe the JavaScript file is not being added correctly.
