I need to export SQL query results to an Excel file.
I use the following code to do it.
[Code]....
Works fine for majority of the cases. There is a column called Description in the query results which is of type nText in the sql database. This can have lengthy data ( couple fo paragraphs) . When the number of charcters are large only the first portion of the data is showed and it trims the rare portion. how I can avoid this? Or any efficient code example on how I can do this in a different manner

I have not done this before so pardin this question that I am sure has been asked before. I have a user that asks me to run queries each month and copy & paste the data into a spreadsheet I want to set up the queries in a web page for him to choose, enter the data in the parameters and either show the data in a gridview then export or just export to the spreadsheet direclty to the file name and location of his choice. Using C# Links or code samples would great.

We are deveopingawebiste in asp.net. There are tempelates of each aspx page made in the form of excel sheet. Upon completion of the online calculation, the user is to be allowed to export the results to excel and save them. There would be obviously no formulae in such sheet
I do not want to install Excel on theserver and instead want to utilize the Excel installed on the user's computer for this purpose as every user's computer is expected to have Excel installed. Is this possible to do? How to do this?
I am not an expert in this. let me know if you would need any more information or clarification.

(Mods, move if I put this in the wrong place) I'm running queries against SQL databases, and I'd like for the results of my searches to appear in table form in an email that is then sent out dynamically. I currently have the results appearing in a Datagrid on a webpage which I'm then manually transferring to an email form to send. I'd like to streamline the process so I don't need to do any manual entry.
How can I have a table/datagrid/whatever in an email that gets populated with the results of a SQL query?

I am trying to export a gridview that is returned from a search form. The gridview also has paging enabled. In order to export the records from all pages in the gridview I had to turn off paging and do a databind, but instead of only exporting the search results it exports all the records in the gridview.
How can I only export the records from the search results, but also the make sure the records on the different pages export also?

I have a gridview that I want to bind the results of a query to it once a user selects a value from a drop down list.
The query selects the same row from the same table but selects different fields based on the drop down list value selected
I get to the query selection but it does not refresh that page with the populated gridview.
Here's the code behind code
protected void ddlQuantity_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
SqlConnection connection = null;
connection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["PSI_DB_1ConnectionString"].ConnectionString.ToString());
connection.Open();
String nEstno = Request.QueryString["id"];
int id = Convert.ToInt32(Request.QueryString["id"]);
string SQLquery = "";
switch (int.Parse(ddlQuantity.Text))
{
case 1:
SQLquery = "Select Quan1"etc...;
break;
case 2:
SQLquery = "Select Quan2"etc...;
break;
case 3:
SQLquery = "Select Quan3"etc...;
break;
case 4:
SQLquery = "Select Quan4"etc...;
break;
case 5:
SQLquery = "Select Quan5"etc...;
break;
}
SqlCommand Cmd = new SqlCommand(SQLquery, connection);
SqlDataReader Dr = Cmd.ExecuteReader();
if (Dr.HasRows)
{
gvEstQty.DataBind();
}
Cmd.Dispose();
connection.Close();
connection.Dispose();
}

I'm trying to export a filtered dataview to excel. The code to export works just fine but it exports all the records, not just the ones I filtered on. For example, I have three dropdowns and the dataview seems to work just fine filtering on the dropdown parameters because it shows up correctly in my datagrid on my screen.
This line of code is where I am confused.
