Data Controls :: Making GridView Open In New Page Update Changes Made In TreeView Gridview At Runtime
Mar 26, 2016
Query 1 - Grid View: - I have an excel sheet which I import into gridview at runtime. For excel sheet import, I have a fileupload dialog box and an asp.net button control which when clicked imports the sheet contents into a gridview. The problem is I have my fileupload box and button control in a page called Default.aspx and I need the gridview get displayed maximized in a new page called Default2.aspx.
Also, I need to specify the row number of the field titles from the excel sheet dynamically at runtime so that the gridview appends any new field/column from that row on. The excel sheets I use contain complex formatting. Is there anyway to display the excelsheet contents as they have been defined and formatted?
Query 2 - Sessions: - I add nodes to my treeview dynamically at runtime. Since HTTP is a stateless protocol, the changes which I do remain only for that session. How do I append the changes I do to the treeview simultaneously in the code?
- I have appended 2 extra columns into the excel sheet generated gridview which take input through dropdownlistbox control at runtime. How do I update and retain those changes in the gridview?
I have a parent gridview5 with child gridview 6, today i deployed it to our dev server and on that server we have alot more records, so for the nested gridviews i need to enable paging on the parent gridview5. Doing so works fine, until i make a selection within the child gridview6, once any selection is made, and i try to page the page throws an error, i have the following bound to the parent gridview5.
I have a form that shows simple table and let the user select a row. when user select a row the record shows in a formview below the gridview. After I update the formview changes take place in database but shows in gridview ONLY the next time I load the page.
I have Edit / Delete / Select buttons enabled on my gridview.. Originally i had added the code to change the BackColor when you made a selection.
But now as the edit and delete functions are being completed.. i need to enable that coloring regardless which linkbutton you select.. As long as something on that row is selected, then i need to change it.
I have a Gridview with a parameterized SQLdatasource. I want the Gridview to be filter when the a selection is made from the dropdown list Here is what I have. I am missing something.
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDSAlbums" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Default %>" SelectCommand="SELECT Album.Album, genre.Genre, Band.Band, Album.year, Album.AlbumUID FROM Album INNER JOIN Band ON Album.BandUID = Band.BandUID LEFT OUTER JOIN genre ON Album.GenreUID = genre.GenreUID WHERE (genre.Genre = @Genre) OR (genre.Genre < 'ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ') ORDER BY genre.Genre, Band.Band" ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString.ProviderName %>"> <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="ddlGenre" Name="Genre" PropertyName="SelectedValue" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource> <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDSGenre" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Default %>" SelectCommand="SELECT Genre, GenreUID FROM genre Order by Genre"></asp:SqlDataSource> Select a Genre <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlGenre" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDSGenre" DataTextField="Genre" DataValueField="Genre" AppendDataBoundItems="True" AutoPostBack="True"> </asp:DropDownList> <asp:GridView ID="gvAlbum" runat="server" AllowPaging="True" AllowSorting="True" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataSourceID="SqlDSAlbums"> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="Album" HeaderText="Album" SortExpression="Album" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Genre" HeaderText="Genre" SortExpression="Genre" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Band" HeaderText="Band" SortExpression="Band" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="year" HeaderText="Year" SortExpression="year" /> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Comments"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:HyperLink ID="hlToComments" HeaderText="Comments" runat="server" NavigateUrl='<%# String.Format("ViewComments.aspx?AlbumUID={0}", Eval("AlbumUID")) %>' Text="Click Here" /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField>
I'm using a GridView hooked up to an AccessDataSource holding details of books. The GridView has a CommandField which I want to act as a link to another page (called "showBook.aspx"). This page will have a DetailsView which I want to use to show the details of the selected book. I want this page to open in a new window.
i have the following gridview i would like the Vistidate column to be a link2) as you can see each patient can have multiple visit dates. when for example i click on 12/08/10 which is going to be a link i would like a new page to open and bring all the details from that visit into the various textboxes that i have such as DOB, telephone etc.
In code below, when I have more than one DIV open and I choose to sort one of the GridViews, all the other Open Div's will close automatically. How can i keep the DIV's in the state they are in when I sort any GridView?
I have a gridview based on two dropdown lists. The first list limits the values of the second dropdown list. On page load all available results are inserted into the gridview. After selection of the dropdown list, the gridview is refreshed with data limited to the two selections. This will result in 200 rows of available data. The user can select the page they want to go to using the page index.Â
They will then select the row to edit. Everything is fine up to here. Then the user will update the record with the appropriate data from the dropdown lists in the gridview or update the text box as necessary. They hit the update selection and the row is updated. The only problem is that they are brought back to the first page in the index. Since most of these people will be working through the list relatively in order, it would be nice if they could stay on the page they were working on rather than going back to the beginning every time. Is there a way to go back to the same pageindex they were at when they started the update?
I am including my code. I tried to use a variable for the pageindex as well as the selected values of the dropdown lists but I am quite sure I have applied them in the wrong places.Â
I have a gridview that has both a select and an update statement. One of the cells is a date cell, and the other is for numerics only. Is there a way I can do this? At the moment, anything can be keyed into the cells and this results in an error as my update stored procedure expects a date value and a numeric value respectively.
I have got 2 Drop Down Lists on my Form and 1 GridView. I want GridView to display the data according to selection from the Drop Down Lists.
For Example, One Drop Down List contains Names and other contains Dates. Both the Drop Down Lists can post back. So if i select a name from 1st Drop Down list, the Grid View should show all the results according to that Name. Similarly if i select the Date from the other Drop Down List , the Grid View should show the results according to the dates. But i cant figure out as how to bind Grid View to respond to 2 Drop Down List.
BTW i am binding both the Drop Down Lists and the Grid View to the DataSource Objects, which is getting data from the database.
I have a gridview, getting data from sql server, there is an Edit link to get the detailed information for example, for a user from database.
this link open a new page with detailed information and when I click the updated button,I want to go back to the same page with that users informaton.
I set the page size to 10, it means I can see only 10 users per page, and if I click the edit link on page 25,and update the users info, I want to go back to page 25.
Should I use viewstate or gridview has any commnad to go back to the same page? the code is written in ASP.net C# sqlserver,
based on the content of a field in my gridview, I would like to make another field mandatory..So its like this, if the field in my gridview called "Name" = Fred then the "Salary" field is mandatory and has to be filled in by the user, however if the field name is not "Fred" then the salary field is not required..how can this be achieved?
I have a parent gridview which has a child gridview in the itemsTemplate. Both are binded to different SqlDataSources. I can successfully update and delete rows in the child gridview. After updating in the child gridview, some related data in the parent gridview are not updated automatically. So i have placed ParentGridview.Databind() in the rowupdated event of child gridview. But it doesnt look working.
I would like to ask a question on the visual basic codes to loop the gridview to retrieve the values and based on the values, it will be provided as parameters to update to the database table using stored procedure.
Firstly, I have a gridview named grvProduct. The page (ui) will be loaded with data from the database with the use of stored procedures. And only certain values can be edited through the use of template in gridview. So based on those edited values, I'm supposed to pass these values as parameters to the stored procedure which will then update a database table.
Let say, I have 3 records retrieved from the database and displayed in the gridview. And I would like to edit a values in the 3 records, how do I do batch update and pass those parameters to the stored procedure? I went to debug and step through the visual basic codes and realised there were too many arguments specified because I actually loop the gridview.
Below is my visual basic codes:
[Code]....
Below is my Stored Procedure code: [Code]....
I believe it is the error in the looping of the gridview which results that I could not batch update the data/values.
- I have a Gridview , when i click button edit of each rows to update database in Gridview . So when in edit mode , i want to update database in Gridview by using a button outside of the gridview instead of using a button inside Gridview .
- Here is my code used for update database by a button inside Gridview :
[Code]....
- So how i can do with a button outside Gridview to update batabase? .
