DataSource Controls :: DBType Error Type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Parameter' Does Not Have A Public Property Named 'DbType'
Feb 28, 2010
I had to format my hard disk and reinstall the Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise and SQL 2005 Standardprograms.
While my program worked perfectly before and still works ok on my second computer, I get the following error message on the formated computer:
Parser Error Message: Type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Parameter' does not have a public property named 'DbType'.
Source Error:
Line 82: <asp:Parameter Name="Olho" Type="String" />
Line 83: <asp:Parameter Name="image" Type="String" />
Line 84: <asp:Parameter DbType="Date" Name="inicio" />
Line 85: <asp:Parameter DbType="Date" Name="termino" />
Line 86: <asp:Parameter Name="pageId" Type="Int32" />
Source File: /0_oserigrafico/Default.aspx Line: 84
In this case I use a datasource control for a datalist and the parameter list is being built ba the system.
The DBType is created for the smalldatetime feild
how do I add the property named 'DbType'.

I am getting error "Cannot implicitly convert type 'string' to 'System.Data.DbType".
When I am passing Stored procedure parameter it expets 'System.Data.DbType" and the Data member is declared as a string.

I'm using VS 2005 and SQL SERVER 2005,now i have a table with only two columns (their types: DateTime and SmallDateTime)
i key in some new records.Now I want to use GridView to retrieve that table, and use Calendar.SelectedDate as a parameter used in WHERE statement,I press "Test Query" and pop out a window "Parameter Values Editor",
here comes the problem.. how come the "DbType" is always 'Date'?After i click the list and select 'DateTime', but next time it will recover back to 'Date'I have to go to the source code find the "Dbtype" and change from "Date" to "DateTime" manually EVERYTIME~
Like This:
From:<SelectParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter ControlID="Calendar1" DbType="Date" Name="Date" PropertyName="SelectedDate" />
</SelectParameters>
To:<SelectParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter ControlID="Calendar1" DbType="DateTime" Name="Date" PropertyName="SelectedDate" />
</SelectParameters>
if i don't do this, it will lead to error:the version of sql server in use does not support datatype 'date'
It's weird that my original datatype is "DateTime" but the Dbtype is ALWAYS "Date" and lead to error everytime.

Protected Sub FormView1_ItemCreated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.FormViewCommandEventArgs) Handles FormView1.ItemCreated
Causes Unable to cast object of type 'System.EventArgs' to type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.FormViewCommandEventArgs'.
The program (asp.net/vb) works fine with FormView1_ItemCommand and FormView1_ItemInserted events but strangely objects to FormView1_ItemCreated. Is it only a VC# event?

I seem to be having issues with posting forms with DropDownLists. I've looked all over the net and tried various solutions, but none seem to work for me.
I'm getting the following error: The parameter conversion from type 'System.String' to type 'Models.Organization' failed because no type converter can convert between these types.
Here's my ViewModel:
[Code]....
Here's my controller:
[Code]....
The objects are generated by ADO.NET Entity Framework. Organizations is its own object, but also a property of Profile (each user belongs to one organization). Now I understand what the error message is saying, just not sure how else I'm supposed to do this.

I have on my page.aspx CheckBox with IDs representing the month.
<asp:CheckBox ID="January" runat="server" Text="Janvier" />
<asp:CheckBox ID="Febuary" runat="server" Text="Fevrier" />
<asp:CheckBox ID="March" runat="server" Text="Mars" />
<asp:CheckBox ID="November" runat="server" Text="Novembre" />
<asp:CheckBox ID="December" runat="server" Text="Decembre" />
The ChecBox will be selected according to the user need: 1, 2, 3 or plus... When the page is fired, I wanted to get in the code behind the box which are checked so I can build a query consequently. So in the code behin, i wrote this:
Dim MyCheckBox As CheckBox
Even if I try Dim MyCheckBox As New CheckBox I was getting the same error below.
For Each MyCheckBox In Form.Controls
For j As Integer = 1 To 12
If TypeOf MyCheckBox Is CheckBox Then
MyCheckBox.ID = MonthName(j)
If CType(MyCheckBox, CheckBox).Checked = True Then
TargetedFieldName = MyCheckBox.ID
'Build a query against tables
MyCheckBoxCollection += TargetedFieldName & ", "
End If
End If
Next
Next
I'm getting right after For Each statement this error: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.LiteralControl' to type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.CheckBox'.

'm getting the above error on one server (production of course, it's always production). On two other servers and in my local dev server, the exact same code runs fine. I do see the Display property has ThemableAttribute(false) in the documentation, so the fact that it IS working seems to be the anomoly, but how could this be working in 75% of the environments I'm testing in?

"'ErrorMessageResourceType' property specified was not found."
{"The resource type 'XXXX.XXXXXX' does not have a publicly visible static property named '_RequiredXXXX'."}
I'm getting this error when my Create.aspx view is called and steps over that line:
<%=Html.TextBoxFor(Function(model) model.NO_DEMND, New With {.class = "txtbox", .disabled = True})%>
<%=Html.ValidationMessageFor(Function(model) model.NO_DEMND)%>
The message is there in the Ressources file, I think the problem is deeper than that but i'm having a hard time finding it. It pops this error very early on the ASPX page. It's the first model component it goes thru, i tried removing this one and it's the same message for all the model.xxxx components. I guess it's an error somewhere in the linkage. The .EDMX is correct and I get no build errors,
