DataSource Controls :: Exporting From Sql Server To Excel?

Feb 10, 2010

The following code is a short version of a process to export data from Sql Server to Excel. I am moving 300k of data to excel and am having to divide it up into 65500+ blocks. This is not a problem in classic asp but .net does not seem to like this method. When ExecuteNonQuery() executes the insert statement each time through the loop it really slows down this process. Otherwise in runs in seconds commenting out ExecuteNonQuery(). Also it looks like the excel file does not grow until the very end. I would think it would be inserting every time it did ExecuteNonQuery(). Do I have something wrong here or should I do a completely different method for this?

C# - Importing An Excel WorkSheet Into A Datatable

May 13, 2010

I have been asked to create import functionality in my application. I am getting an excel worksheet as input. The worksheet has column headers followed by data. The users want to simply select an xls file from their system, click upload and the tool deletes the table in the database and adds this new data.

I thought the best way would be too bring the data into a datatable object and do a foeach for every row in the datatable insert row by row into the db. My question is what can anyone give me code to open an excel file, know what line the data starts on in the file, and import the data into a datable object?

Populate And Save An Excel Worksheet Server Side

Mar 28, 2011

I've been searching for various posts on Excel and ASP.Net, and wanted to try and figure out if what I'm attempting has any chance of working. I have a special Excel workbook with a worksheet that has a bunch of calculations and such for various fields that creates an order for his crew. My client uses this Excel worksheet for everything. He's asking me to be able to see online orders (which I have), click a link and have the worksheet be passed down to the client all populated and formatted exactly as is (just adding/editing data).

Is this even possible? I'd have to load this specific .xls file, then open it on the server, save data to various cells, and then do a Save As and then binarystream it down to the client. I'm quite certain there is no version of Excel loaded on the server. So I'm perplexed as to how to accomplish this. Has anyone encountered this situation before and been able to accomplish what's being asked?

Visual Studio :: Exporting A .rdlc To Excel / Analagous Export Of That Report To Excel?

Nov 2, 2010

I've got an .rdlc report which I print from my .net app (C# Visual Studio 2005), where I use a RemoteReportPrinter object. I give it as parameters the server name, report name, report parameters, etc. Works fine. My question is, I would live to do an analagous export of that report to Excel. Set it up exactly the same, but have it export to Excel rather than print, probably using some other type of object than RemoteReportPrinter.

Forms Data Controls :: Exporting To Excel With Colors?

I need a way to export data from MySql database (or simply from DataTable) to Excel and set colors of particular rows based on one of the fields' content.

I don't want to export the whole GridView because I need a way to add fields with calculated values as needed.

I have the following code that works:

Forms Data Controls :: Exporting DataGrids To Excel?

Jan 27, 2010

I currently have a data grid that exports to Excel on an ASP.NET page (which is used for reporting purposes) which works great until we put it under the stresses of a full scale production environment. With a multitude of users using it it seems to fill up the server memory quite quickly since the data thats being pulled is rather large. The requirements of the page are: The data needs to be queried and exported to excel, so theres no point to getting around that. I've noticed that xls files are rather large in comparison to their xlsx counter parts, using xlsx files would be fine for my application. I've noticed that xlsb (Excel binary) are even smaller(approx 25% the size of the their xls counterpart). Is there anyway to change my code to export to xlsb (first choice) or xlsx rather than xls? I think it has something to do with Mime Types but I'm not positive.

Here is the code that I'm using for exporting:

Forms Data Controls :: Exporting GridView To Excel - VIN Changing?

Jun 25, 2010

This is an ASP.NET 3.5 project being created with VS2008. One page contains a gridview with six columns. One of the columns displays standard, 17 character , Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN). The VIN numbers display normally when the page is rendered. However, when the gridview is exported to Excel, the VIN numbers change. For example, in the gridview, the VIN might be 12345678912345678But when the gridview exports into Excel, that same VIN becomes 1.23457E+16The value of that Excel cell changes to 12345678912345600, changing the last two digits from 78 to 00. It does this for every VIN in the gridview table.I did some Googling but couldn't find anything specifically on this issue. Has anyone seen it before? Is there a way to format the column in the gridview so that Excel will accept it as literal text? I tried programmatically adding a style called 'text' to that column but that had no effect on the outcome. All of the other columns are behaving normally.
