I am drawing a blank and need some direction.I am putting together a simple website that has a single DropDownList that is DataBound to table inside of a FormView Template.What I want to happen is when the page loads, it runs the SELECT statement and displays that result(which it does, so that part works).Where I am stuck is that if I Click the DropDownList and select another item, and display the results of that selected item in the associated Databound controls.My code is below;
I have a GV that is populated via a reader: Using reader As SqlDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() I have autogenerate edit button=T but it will not go into editmode. Must I create template to handle this?
So far i've populated my grid view with my roomID. however using data reader I don't seem to be able to get more than one column to auto generate even though i'm now looking for three values : SELECT tt_roomEquip.roomID, tt_room.roomCapacity, tt_equip.equipTitle is my select bit of the sql, though it's only putting roomID into my grid view.
I'm looking for a steer on how to go about running stored procs efficiently.
I have a current requirement to populate a control, so I have all the specific data i.e the parameter value I need to pass and the control I want to populate, plus generic data such as SqlConnection etc.
I'd like to be able to call, say, "MyStoredProc". MyStoredProc would contain all the necessary information to run the proc, but then pass onto a method, say, GetSpData, which contained all the generic stuff about running stored procs.
Then when setting up MyStoredProc2 I could do without repeating a lot of the original function
Im I barking up the wrong tree or is there an efficient way of managing this kind of situation.
I'm populating a grid view with data from an SQL datasource. The database has a a list of performing artists and lots of details. The gridview initially, shows the ArtisID (Primary key) , and artist name and music style. So far this is all simple and easy. This is done.
Now I want to be able to click on the ArtistId (Select Column) and move the customer to another page where I show indepth details about the artist. How do I do this???
In Vb.net I had a 'Celldoubleclick' event, and I redirect the client. But how do I accomplish the same in asp.net? I already have the primary key value
I'm quite new to ASP.NET and i was wondering if someone could answer some of my questions.1. What is the difference between a DataTable and an Array? Is the DataTable a serverside control? Is it exposed to the user?2. Does the reader retrieve the column names? If so- how can I capture them? Are they the first row?2. Is it possible to populate an Array using the following sort of code, and if so- how?:
SqlCommand tableCommand = new SqlCommand(); SqlConnection tableConnection = new SqlConnection(); tableCommand.Connection = tableConnection;
I'm getting "This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable" exception when try to commit my transaction after sqlreader is close.Here is the code sample
[Code]....
...so when I get to commit the transaction it raises the mentioned exception: "This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable". I have also noticet that Command.Transaction becomes NULL after reader.Close()My question is: Can I use SqlDataReader and SqlTransaction ? Maybe to use BeginExecuteReader and EndExecuteReader ?
I have been able to successfully read a row of data from an SQL table using two column parameters. Now I would like to update this row with new information. Is this possible since the reader does not specify which row was read with the 'reader.Read();' command?
I have a SQL Datasource populating a Drop Down List with Company Names. The Select Statement the Datasource uses selects Company ID and Company Name.When a company is selected from the list, there is a button on the page to continue processing with the selected company. On the press of the button, I want to set a session variable for the Company ID of the Company selected. This Company ID is obviously held in the Datasouce. Any idea how I get at the Company ID.My code will look like the following:Session.AddsessCompanyID", ????????????)where ?????????? represents the source of the Company ID.
I am trying to pass a mysql reader string variable into a textbox so on the asp front end it will automatically show the resultset as soon as the page is loaded. The following is my code:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!Page.isPostback)
Environment is : vwd2008, asp.net 3.5, linq to sql object model, formview, stored procedure used for query.On going problem... I have a simplified page with a webform content area from a master page. The content area contains a FormView connected to an object data source thru the design view tag. The O/R designer has the Lease Table and the stored procedure in the method area.
The stored procedure selects all records from a single table. I an using the DatabaseDataContext and selecting stored procedure name which has "return SingleResult".. There is no code written; the design view was used to create everything. The stored procedure executes in VWD 2008 express tab and shows desired records. I would like to use the O/R and Linq to SQL, and objectdatasource BUT.
I have a repeater which is binded using a Collection of Entity Data Framework.
Once the repeater is binded using the datasource, the user can control the no of rows present in the repeater using a Dropdown list on the page. For ex: if datasource has 2 rows, user want to add 3 more rows, user selects 5 from dropdown, which adds 3 additional rows to the Repeater. I am able to do this.
The repeater has textbox controls in each row. Now once the user enter the values in this textbox of the newly generated rows, the user can save the values entered with the no of rows specified.
I have a button which is outside the repeater and on click of this i need to validate all the textbox values and save them into dB accordingly.
Here is my code
Repeater.aspx

Right now the problem is im not able to fetch the values of the textboxes present in the newly generated rows.
I'm currently trying to build a html table from the results of a sql data reader. As my table has multiple records, I want the code to loop through the reader and output the details on individual lines of the page. In ASP I have done this in the past using something like
[Code]....
but as I am using data readers I'm not sure what the equivalent is.
I am getting an error "Unable to cast object of type 'System.Int32' to type 'System.String'."when attempting to loading data from a stored proc. My database code is
I'm creating a user control that enables users to search AD and add the selected names to a list (which is used to send mail lateron).
The problem is that the search results end up in the Listbox but all as the string "System.DirectoryServices.ResultPropertyValueCollection" in stead of the actual values.
I need to populate a text box from a stored porcedure call that does not have any parameters. I've made the database connection and am executing the stored procedure, but I cannot figure out how to set a text box value to the return value of the stored procedure. BTW, the stored procedure only returns one value.
I have some code in my vb.net code behind that queries a database, and if there is data, outputs it from the codebehind to a datalist on my asp.net page. In addition to sending the data to the datalist on the page, I need to take the value from "mbillaty" that is returned from the sql query, and have that value be the selected value for a drop down box also on the page. I can get either the datalist to fill, or the selected value for the dropdown box to be selected depending upon which bit of code I place before the other (ARGH), but I can't get them to both work together on the page. What am I doing wrong?
I am using a wizard with 2 steps: Step 1: I enter some values in few textboxes, which in turn are stored in some hidden variables Step 2: There are some more textboxes including the texboxes in step 1 Example: in step 1 there are two textboxes Customer Name & Email ID In step 2 there are two more texboxes Customer Name, Email ID, Company Name and Age Now the values in step 1 are stored in 2 hidden variables lblCustomerName and lblEmailId respectively. Now how do I automatically populate these two fields which are already entered in step 1, in the textboxes present in step 2, is my question?
