DataSource Controls :: Read Data From An Access Data File And Input Into The SQL Database?
Mar 10, 2010
I have a lot of members data to enter into the ASPNETDB database. How can I read this data from an Access data file and input into the SQL database. All data is for user Names and Password,
ID Name Contact No Address 1 ABC XXXXXXX ABCNM2 XYZ xxxxxxx ASDFG
Now my requirement is read data from this excel sheet and den encrypt Contact No field for each row and den save data in database, how should it will be done I have to use some ready made available encryption algo for that.
I m uploading a text file. I want to read that text file line by line and I want to save that data into database if there are no errors in that text file. I have 5 different columns in database and I want to take those 5 columns data in the text file and insert into respective columns.
For this, which is the best way to do. Can we read and insert data into respective fields in no time.
i have a table fileupload with id,username, filename, filedata, uploaddate here i have uploaded successfully...but i cannot retrieve the binary file uploaded by using its id. can anybody tell me how to read binary file from database using c#.net3.5?
I am using an SQL Express server hosted on a different machine and it is listed in my server explorer just fine. It is listed as my connection string in my web.config just fine as well and lastly it seems to sync just fine with my asp.net membership tables. My question is does it need to be listed in my app data folder of my site? Currently I have the ASPNETDB.mdf connection listed, which is apparently just a local sql express connection. The database I am using in my webconfig and other files is not listed so do I need to add it there?
Second question is about DAL, Data Access Layers. I have mostly been using presentation level SQL commands with my data presentation controls. Manually entering separate select, insert and update statements. I just went through a tutorial that stated the best way to interact with your database in asp.net is with DAL using table adapters. It mentioned that it gives you the ability to use strongly-typed references to each row. My question is can I use the same method multiple times on a single page. For instance a method inside an adapter named GetProductsByID(@ID) ? What if I want this bound to three different gridviews on a single page? Anyone have any other general things to point out about using DAL over presentation level commands?
I've an XML file stored in App_Data which is only used to read some configuration on startup. When I attempt to open it within my code, I get an Access to the path ... is denied message.
I'm having trouble understanding why, and how to solve it. I guess in theory I should alter the permissions on the file (and directory), but this hasn't changed anything.
To give a bit more background:1. Its a file bundled with the project, so the setup created by VS2008 writes it to the correct place during install. I didn't think I'd need to do anything unusual post install such that the ASP.NET application would have access.
2. When I've tried publishing this locally, I've not had any problems. - This is only on a test Windows 2003 server.
3. I've ran a simple page to understand the effective user of IIS - It is NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE. I tried granting "Full Access" to this user to this file, and still it doesn't work. The code to open it is simple:
FileStream fs = new FileStream(Server.mapPath(s), FileMode.Open);
Where s is defined as '~/App_Data/myfile.xml
I've even copied and pasted the full path & filename (from the exception) and tried "dir" on it, and it is indeed present (to get around a typo for example).I've also tried running aspnet_regiis.exe /s
I have a text file stored in my sql DB. in that .txt file I have certain numbers like:
99435 87889 33455 33555 34556
How to get the count of these numbers from the txtfile stored in the database? Also to read the file and fetch the number one by one in a string? I am using asp.net (C#)
I am trying to store data from an XML file to a table in my database, but I keep getting the same error.
This is my code from the cs file:
[Code]....
And this is my error:
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Areas'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Areas'.
The statement has been terminated.
In my XML file I have both existing rows and new rows for the database table. I'm guessing I have to do something to sort out the the rows that are not already in the database, but so far I have been unsuccessful to figure this out.
Creating a system with web front end and SQL backend (microsoft obviously). I have tried using the asp.netsqlprovider but i can;t as i am only allowed one database on the server, so i then tried to update my current database with the triggers to input the schema into the already existing database.Next step i create my own table with two simple fields of username and password and try and authenticate that way, i can't get that to work either.
I ahve limited permissions on the network as i am a University Student. I really don't know what to do. Never had to create a log on system before and i thought it would be far simpler than this. I ahve used Microsoft's sqlprovider schema before and it worked fine. I have also authenticated via IIS and AD too before. I can't do any of those two in this instance it seems.I need an alternative for logging in users, if needs be in can be crude. I also still need to have some kind of two different views too for logged in users and not logged in users, but that can change if needs must.Don't let me down people, haha. Think this posts in the correct place, i could not find another one i thought could be more relevant.
I'm have two problems that I would appreciate feedback on:1. I added new fields to database, store procedure, and dataContext but the data Context is not showing up when I select the datasource in the Grid control.2. I have dbo access to the database but have read only access. When I add a grid to the app I only have the option to sort, page, select.
I have an object datasource which is using Business object as a myconnection
The method i have defined under myconnection is
Publicstatic DataTable getfn(String dtype, String did, String dprefix, String dname) { datable table = new datatable(); then declared stored proceedure and defined parameters and assighned values
In the stored proceedure it has a query like select column1,coloumn2,coloumn3 As Call from table where I need to take data from Call and display it to the gridview through object datasource .
I am reading data from Excel file using oledbdataadapter and binding to gridview.Every thing working fine.but if the cell is having some text along with bar sysmol ( | ) [Ex : 12345 | 789123] that cell data is not reading from excel file. All fileds in excel sheet is text format only. Some times it's reading correctly & some times it not reading(empty). Is there any problem with bar symbol ( | )
How to read this file and bind data to gridview control.
Right now i am using the following code but it stores whole data in a single column and a single row but i need it in four columns named NC, WC, PRC,ETAC and it's values in respected columns.
how to get data in four columns in Gridview as a tabular format. I am using technologies Visual Studio 2005, ASP.NET 2.0,C#.NET 2.0 and Windows Xp Operating system.
I changed a text field to a template field assigning the selected text and the selected value is being assigned to another currency field also templated. I get aa error
[FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.]
