Oct 12, 2010I'm trying to make a dropdown list with data available based on the users login name. Heres what I have as my SQL Query in the SQLDataSource:
SELECT Client_Name, Client_ID FROM Client WHERE (Client_Name LIKE '%@Client_Name%')
So say if the login username is "User1" but the database client name is "User1 Steel" I want the dropdownlist to pull "User1 Steel" as the display and Client_ID as the value from the dropdown list.

Jul 8, 2010I need to retrieve data based on 3 different selections(current year, 5 years, 10 years). If the user select current year, then I need to pull data with the most up to date year, if the user selects 5 years, then I need to pull data for 5 years from the most up to date year in database. I am trying to accomplish this in sql due to using object DataTables in asp.net 3.5. I am able to do this with separate queries but I need to accomplish this with one query. I was going to use CASE statements but not really sure if I am approaching this correctly.

For example, the MS Customize CreateUserWizard walkthrough [URL] adds the ability to save the users preference for subscribing to a newsletter and allowing their info to be shared as 1 value in the comment column of the membership database. The result ofaspnet_Membership.Comment is Subscribe=TRUE&ShareInfo=FALSE.
My question is if Subscribe=TRUE&ShareInfo=FALSE is in one field of the database, how would you retrieve just the Subscribe=TRUE value from the field and use it to send a newsletter to the proper users while ignoring the ShareInfo=FALSE value?

On page 1 (using a master page) the customer selects a starting date from a dropdownlist. When the customer hits the submit button, they are transferred to page 2 where the selected starting date is displayed.

Apr 5, 2010I have a web form with two drop downs.I want the gridView to display the data based on one or the other.The user can then select a record to be displayed in a detail view.This method works as long as I am only viewing the data.If the user edits the data in the detail View and then updates the detail view when the page reloads the grid goes blank.I have traced the code and there is data in the query after the update but the select statement for the LinqDataSource is overriding the code in the lqGrid_Selecting.I can make the above scenario work using SqlDataSources,but I thought LinqDataSources were the way of the future.

The locationName is displayed in the dropdown. The selected values is set to, "locationID'. Based on the 'LocationID' the user is directed to a new page.
However, I need to pass the "locationID" and also the "LocationTYpe" values for the selected Name, so the sure can be directed to a specific page..how do I get BOTH values, 'locationID' and 'LocationType' when the user selects 'Location NAme' from drop down.

Nov 14, 2010I have a listview control bound to an SqlDataSource. As part of the formatting I want to add a title to the data returned from my database. For instance if the data base returns a phone number I want to add 'Tel.' first. However I do not want to diplay this
title if the datafield is empty. Here is what I have done so far.
