I get a casting error on line #8 below which reads "db.UserID = Session("UserID")". What would be the correct way to cast this? The datatype of the DB field is GUID.
I am storing a custom "Organisation" object as a session variable. One of the properties of the Organisation object is "OrganisationID" (integer). I have a DataSource that requires a parameter value to run, and I want to use a SessionParameter to populate this. In a previous version, I stored the OrganisationID directly as a session variable. In that case, I could easily access it like this:
[Code]....
However, how do I now access the OrganisationID property of an "Organisation" type session variable (called "Organisation")? I have tried this, which does not seem to work: <asp:SessionParameter Name="OrganisationID" SessionField="Organisation.OrganisationID" Type="Int32" />
I am new to all this, and ignorant beyond compare. I believe I have the same problem as this :
[URL]. However, the solution proposed for him doesn't seem to work for me. I have a session variable that 'march_cpi_session' that I wish to include in an sql select statement to multiply the values I get from a datatable before they're used to populate a gridview control. The session variable works fine elsewhere in my application, but causes a variety (depending upon how I fiddle about with the syntax) of sql errors. This is the currrent code:
Can I set up an ASP.Net datasource in the ASPX code as opposed to the code behind) where the datasource is a DataTable that's stored in a Session variable?
I'm working on converting the TailspinSpyworks shopping cart Joe Stagner wrote in C# to VB using an evaluation version of VS 2010. I have the following public function:
Public Function GetShoppingCartId() As [String] If Session(CartId) Is Nothing Then Session(CartId) = If(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.IsAuthenticated, User.Identity.Name, Guid.NewGuid().ToString()) End If Return Session(CartId).ToString() End Function
For Session in Session(CartId) I'm etting the following error: 'Session' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level. For User in User.Identity.Name I'm getting the same error: 'User' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level
I want to add my own session variable to elmah error log table and display it. I already have modified the source code and added the new fields to Error.cs and other fields but I don't know but when I assign an HttpContext.Current.Session["MyVar"].tostring() value to my field in the constructor it stops logging exceptions and does not log any exception. I just need to get the value of the session variable is there other way for this ? I read a post which he added fields for the email but it does not say where exactly should I get the session value. I also read that Session and Cookies ar e logged by default by Elmah but I dont know how to access them.
Currently in an .aspx file, I am storing a value (filename that was created in that session) in an hidden text box. When the user clicks on the "Print" labeled Hyperlink control, it opens the file that was stored in the hidden text box control. But when the user goes to different screen (in the same session), I loose the filename value that is stored in the hidden text box control. So I would like to store the filename variable in a session variable. So that if the user leaves this .aspx file and comes back to this .aspx file I can load the value into the hidden text box from the session variable.
Code: Protected Sub Page_Load(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Try Response.Write(Session("ValidUser").ToString & "<br />") Catch ex As System.Exception Response.Write("Valid User Session Variable Not Found: " & ex.ToString & "<br />") End Try
[Code] .....
This the page that users are redirected to after logging on and, after verifying their credentials at the log-on stage, should show 'Hello DonaldDuck@Disney.com, Welcome to my website'.
Do these errors mean that the user cannot be validated in the database?
just needing a 2nd set of eyes looking at this to make sure the error isn't something else other than my LINQ code here. Here's the function class itself:
[Code]....
For some reason it's flagging the 2nd line in the GetJacketByPolicyID function saying the specified cast is not valid. So I'm guessing it's something I'm doing wrong. I'm sure the tblPolicy/tblPolicies class works right since I can create a new instance of a tblPolicy and set a few variables by hand and return it, so that's not it. I've also checked the datarow I'm fetching and there's no null values in the record, so that shouldn't be it either.
I have a little problem developing a SQL Select Statement on a column that is formatted pretty badly. Firstly, the Database has already been created and filled with Data in a Test Environment, I'm not sure if the format is the same or has been updated in Production but since I'm only able to work with the Test Environment right now I'm stuck with using what I have. The Column in one Table shows a Snapshot of a clients account which is set to VarChar(50) but the actual data in the column is formatted like a money format (with a $ and decimal point so for example "$5,000.00" would be an entry in one Row).
What I'm trying to do is a create a WebService that will be used in a iPhone Application and one of the Methods needs to just give a quick display of the total value of all Clients with each specific company but I can't perform a SUM function on a VarChar column and I've tried to CAST and CONVERT the column into money, int, decimal and just about every format I can think of but I keep getting an error stating that I convert the data type varchar to which ever one I'm trying. I think it has something to do with the $ already listed in the Column, so I wanted to know what I could do to either remove the $ sign (like a Trim option) or if there is a better way of doing this that I can't think of. I know the best option would be to convert the column to the appropriate format but as I said, this was a previously designed system and I'm not sure if the Production area is the same (most likely not).
comparing integer values which are actually in string (varchar(9)) right now...I'm trying to do the following in a stored procedure..
SET @MinProjectYear = SELECT ProjYear FROM P_A WHERE ID = @ID SET @MaxProjectYear = SELECT ProjYear FROM P_A WHERE UserId = @UserID AND... IF EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM P_A WHERE MinProjectYear <= MaxProjectYear) return true
The MinProjectYear and MaxProjectYear are varchar(9) values stored as "2007-2008", "2009-2010", etc. How do I split and compare the years?? i.e. check if 2007-2008 <= 2009-2010 ??
I have a webpage, i have a usercontrol in it , its name ispersonal1, i have tow Radiobutton in this usercontrol, the id of one of them ismale and the other one is female, it is obviously that each time we fill one of these radiobuttons and the other one will be null,in my database the type of these fields are bit , and they have allow null, i defined a property for my usercontrol like this:
I would like to know if the way i'm dealing with session variables is the right way, and also how to fix this error i'm getting: FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.
I get this error when trying to export selected rows in gridview to pdf format
"Unable to cast object of type 'iTextSharp.text.html.simpleparser.CellWrapper' to type 'iTextSharp.text.Paragraph'."
This my code below:
using (StringWriter sw = new StringWriter()) { using (HtmlTextWriter hw = new HtmlTextWriter(sw)) { gdfacture.Columns[0].Visible = false; foreach (GridViewRow row in gdfacture.Rows) {
I get the error 'Input string was not in correct format' currentID is an integer var. When I hover over the GridView_ABC.DataKeys[0].Value it is """, it should be an integer.
I wanted to delete the record from data but I receive this error "Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.Linq.DataQuery`1[training_eval.Course]' to type 'training_eval.Course'.
Dim eval_sure = From ev In db.Evaluates Where ev.course_id = indexcourse Select ev.course_id Dim del_course = From c In db.Courses Where c.Course_id = indexcourse db.Courses.DeleteOnSubmit(del_course) db.SubmitChanges()
I have a web application which uses a session variable to store the logged in userid. If no user is logged in, of course this variable will be empty and the contents displayed on my website are meant for guests. If there is a user logged in, the user specific controls/access/links will then be a displayed.
I am now having issues with my hosting where on shared application pool, the worker recycle is triggered every 90 minutes, this will clear sessions causing all my users to be logged out. I opted for a dedicated application pool, which got worse because I am only allocated 50MB memory limit and if this is reached, the worker recycle is triggered and I lose my sessions again. I have tried as much as possible optimization techniques, e.g. dispose where possible, close connections, disable viewstate for static controls etc but my memory per instance keeps building up from page to page without any signs of improvement. I don't use loops nor store huge objects like bitmaps etc but my sessions are now gone even faster than 90 minutes in shared application pool before.
I have considered using SQL Session State but there isn't a simple guide on using this with MySQL. I am getting desperate and considering using a public variable, a string as a replacement to store logged in user id instead of in a session variable. I am pretty sure this will solve my issue with sessions being recycled but are there any negative consequences of doing this? One problem I can think of is if the user closes the browser, the system will never know that the user is now logged out and this public variable should be nothing. In this scenario, will the GC eventually clear this abandoned public variable.

I am not entirely sure what is causing it. Its completley intermitent. I am storing all the details of a user filling in a form in a structure, and then assigning that structure to a session variable. This means if they page back, and then page forward again, I can pre-populate the form with the details they have already filled in for their conveinience by using the above code snippet. It appears that it works for a good minute, but if I leave the browser alone any longer than roughly 60 seconds, and then try and page forward to the form again, the exception will fire. While writing this post, the exception has occured in again in firefox, but interestingly, Google Chrome doesn't seem to have this problem. It looks like I can leave chrome alone for as long as I want and it will still work.
What would be the proper syntax in ASP.NEt 3.5 C# to assign a TextBox value to a temporary or session variable to be manipulated (added, subtracted, multiplied, divided) at different points in the application? I want to add a decimal number to this variable in almost every instance as well.
