how can i programatically create table in sql2005 from exisiting dbase or dbf file along with data in the files.....
wat i mean is that program shuld read the existing dbf/dbase/excel file,, create table with the same structure and data as in the exisiting dbase/dbf files..

the file upload object is called "fileupload1" and this all goes with a "submit" button
also, that is pretty much for one file, what if the user is uploading more than one file? do i just add more if/then statements, one for each fileupload object?
i'm trying to read an excel file and get data on a row by row basis. Since after converting the pdf file into an excel file, the formatting went a bit haywire but if read row by row, i'm still able to retrieve the original data.
As I am unable to generate the excel file using a single worksheet, i have multiple sheets in the excel file. I also need help on reading multiple sheets.
Currently i am onli able to get data via columns but due to the formatting going haywire, i gave up on it.
I am creating an site where a user uploads an excel file to check if any of the records exist in a database. Then they are returned an excel file with only the records that are NOT in the database.
I was thinking I should do it this way1. User uploads their excel file. The app opens excel file and loads records into a dataset (so far this is working with the code below)2. Using datarow and another function to check if each excel record exists in the database3 If the record does NOT exist, and it is the first record tested, create an excel file called records.xlsx and write the record into the file
4. Check the next record and if it does NOT exist in the database, then check if records.xlsx already exists then open it and write it into it.

Hopefully its clear, sorry if its not, I'm a bit of a novice at this. Is this a good way to do it? Does anyone know of any tutorials that might outline how to open an existing file and write to it?

3. Write filtered data to new excel file.

But when I try to get table from Excel like this: "select * from [Table1]", debugger complains that database engine could not find object Table1. The goal, from internal department (user) perspective:A department wants to "upload" an excel spreadsheet of data (product, term, rate, etc) to SQL (this will be from the internal network). The data is then saved to a webpage location for that department to view and approve. Once "approved," this data is displayed on the live web servers (public-facing website which is two load balancing servers).
Bonus:
The .NET application/SQL Server can send an email to the department reminding them to upload the latest rates (each weekday morning, then each Thursday afternoon) if rates have not yet been "approved."
From the development perspective, this is my general idea, but I may be wrong.There are three spreadsheets, each with one tab. The first spreadsheet is uploaded, and the .NET application puts it in a SQL table. I then need to display this table of data on a .aspx page for the department to approve before the .aspx page is pushed to the live web servers.
First, I need an interface for this department to upload Excel files. I need this application to save the data to SQL and display it in a .aspx page so that the department can look it over and approve it. The department needs a way to "approve" the page, and this action will push the data to the live web servers. Will this involve SQL data transformation services?
