Display An Ashx Image Using JQuery?

I've been trying to use the jQuery plugin Colorbox to display images I have in my DB through an ashx file. Unfortunately it just spits a bunch of gibberish at the top of the page and no image. Can this be done? Here is what I have so far:

UPDATE:
My ashx file is writing the binary out:

I have created webpage and I am calling it from Jquery function. Technically I am {info} is image button and I am replacing with it with aspx

The web page is opening in new browser window. Is there any way that I could make it as pop up whereever I can place in the page. That is get rid off the toolbar address bar. It should look like a pop up.

On Click of Thubnail images Fullview of image with width and height same as image width and height

i am using this jquery file for image annotations on the image element:

And set this src element at page load but after invoking the jquery function on "toannotate" control the full image is not displayed in the 698 by 398 size only some portion of the image is displayed there...why so..?

I'm trying to pass JSON from jQuery to a .ASHX file. Example of the jQuery below:

I am developing an application that stores images as Base64 strings in xml files. I also want to allow the user to crop the image before saving it to the file, preferably all in memory without having to save a temp file, and then delete it afterwards. In order to display the newly uploaded image, I need to create a HTTP handler that I can bind the asp:Image to. The only examples for doing this online require passing the .ashx an ID and then pulling the image from a DB or other data store. Is it possible to somehow pass the raw data to the .ashx in order to get back the image?

I have a webpage where I am displaying some data.
On the top of that I have a button. On click of this button I am calling my webhandler using jquery/json, passing in some data to this handler. Now this data can containg html tags. So whenever I try to click that button it gives that Potential threat script
error. So I thought let me include ValidateRequest = false to my webpage.
Now when i do this it never hits my handler. I tried to debug also but my breakpoint is never hit in my handler. How to handle this.

I got a $(document).ready() handler in my aspx page that fires twice. I trapped it to the follwing line of html (this line is part of the itemtemplate of a listview):
<img src='Images.ashx?Url=<%# Eval("Url")%>&Type=3' alt=''></img>
Seems that using the images.ashx is causing my problem, putting a 'normal' url as src gives me no problems.
It must be because the handler is called, but why is loading an image giving a second fire on $(document).ready()
It is only in IE8. Chrome, FF and safari work as expected.

Setup: I have a RadioButtonList with two listitems (One Street, the other Schools). These define what type of search I want. I textbox with associated autocomplete. First you select which search to complete, and then start typing and the autocomplete will make . Autocomplete goes out to ashx webservice which pulls a list from the database.

I have a fileupload control in a contentplaceholder in a masterpage. I have to preview the image whenever I browse an image beside it in an imagecontrol.
My application is running on a different server .So I can't give the filepath of my local system.
Also I don't want to store the image in any location and i'm not supposed to use any session variable to pass it to generic handler.
