Enable/disable RequiredValidator On Client-side / CustomValidator Not Firing?
Apr 23, 2010
I've got a drop-down where the user selects a Country. It is a required "field".Next to it, there is a textfield named State. If the user selects US, then the field State is required. If the user selects e.g. Sweden, the State is not required, since Sweden has no states.Example code:
i have an AJAXIFIED button(btnsend) thas is disable by it's Property -> Enabled="False"
i have a TextBox Next To This Button And I Want Enable that Button When Users Type Something in That TextBox...
so i did this (JavaScript):
function onkeyupontextbox() { var btnSend = document.getElementById("btnSend"); btnSend.disabled = false; }
but that button does not work after becomes enable...
what can i do about that?
(i am using radajaxmanager for ajaxify that button) (when i remove that button from RadAjaxmanager Or UpdatePanel So EveryThing Is Ok , But I Want That Button In Ajaxify Mode)
i am using data grids on my web page, and on edititemtemplate i have custom validators for the drop down list ( ddl), most of them they do the same job which is to test if the user did select from the ddl or not.
i want to point all of these drop down lists to the same function and pass to this function the ddl.ClientID
I am building a CustomValidator, here is my html declaration:
[Code]....
I can not figure out how to get client side javascript to change the error message of the CustomValidator, unlike server side I can change ErrorMessage property. Here is the client side javascript declaration:
I have created dynamic control with both server and client side events.. if i set client side event server side event is not firing.. I have created the link button which will validate and do some necessary actions.. Validation is working but click event of link button is not firing .. if we remove the client side event , server side event is firing.. how to avoid this.. I want both events..
In my web page I have a Checkbox (datatype = tinyint/boolean) and 2 Required field validator (whose visibility is false). I want that when I check(tick) the checkbox, then required field validator visible = true, else not.For this I tried this code on Page_Load as well as on save button click, but it is not working:
I would like to disable all client side validation in an Asp.Net web site in order to test that server side validation is correct (i.e. I want to test against people altering the response or tampering with client script)Currently, I am either-Disabling JS in the browserManually disabling client validation for individual validators.
I have two list boxes and I am using javascript to interchange the items. My problem is, When I press submit button before any changes in the listboxes, it would fire the eventhandler. But when I made any change in these listboxes, a postback happened and the controls became invisible. (There is an html tag and an empty body tag in the source). I know listbox cannot preserve the client side changes to the server. But I could not identify the problem.
I am using xVal in a ASP.NET MVC project. One of the forms has two buttons and i want to disable the client side validation when one of the buttons is clicked. Is there a way to conditionally disable client side validation in xVal?
How can I conditionally disable client-side validation of some fields ?
Here is the example of what I need to do:
user writes name and address and submits. Both are validated both server and client side. If validation passes e-mail is send to given address and (name, address) pair is stored.as a response same page is displayed (I don't want redirect!) this time with confirmation. User can retype their name and submit. In such case e-mail will be resend to the address that corresponds to given name.
It does not work because: client side validation will not pass when user clicks resent button on the second (confirmation screen). It would say that e-mail is required even if there is no field for it. How can I disable javascript validating email before the confirm page gets send to user ?
Example ASP.NET MVC page
<%if (Model.Confirm == false){ %> <% using (Html.BeginForm()) { %> Your email: <%: Html.EditorFor(m => m.Email) %> Your name: <%: Html.EditorFor(m => m.Name) %> <input type="submit" value="Send Email" />
I have js script block (very long one that does editing capabilities to an invoice page).
I want to enable/disable this functionality on the server-side. First thing popped up on my mind was to say runat="server" to the tag, and set visible=true/false to asp.net, thinking asp.net does not render the HTML for non-visible items, so the block wouldn't load at all, which was what I wanted. But I quickly realized that saying runat="server" to client-side code was a real bad idea :)
What ar emy options, besides loading script from client side. Cuz I have other buttons that come from the server-that will enable dieable too.
I have a user control which contains a CustomValidator which is used according to whether a RadioButton is checked or not (there are several RadioButtons, I'm only showing the relevant one)
There is some client + server side validation code (the server side code does exactly the same thing and is skipped for brevity)
<script type="text/javascript"> function ValidateDateFields_Client(source, args) [code]...
There are two instances of this control in the page. When running the client side version it hits the wrong one (the version of the control which is disabled). You can see from the generated HTML both are correctly specified. I'm not sure how .NET works out which clientside function to call given they both have the same name.
[code]... Do i need to add something in to scope it? What's the best way to achieve this? If I disable the loading of the second control everything works fine.
If I put ValidateGroupComplaint in a standalone js file (linked from the master page), then the alert line will always display nothing and always return false.
If I put ValidateGroupComplaint in a script block inside my web control, then it will work IF the web control is not in a UpdatePanel. If it is inside a UpdatePanel then it simply can't find the validator function (JS Error: object expected).
I'm trying to create a setup in my ASP.NET website that allows me to enable/disable logging while the application is running at any point. I figure some of you have already done such a thing.
So how would you set up the boolean value ShouldBeLogging to be able to be turned on/off while the website is running without getting any serious performance drawbacks(seeing how its going to be accessed frequently)? I was thinking about putting something in the web.config, but wouldn't a change to that kick my user sessions if i wanted to turn it on?
using c# I am entering two types of string in a text box for eg "so-123456" or "12345678" only this two formats are allowed to enter, when i enter only 12345678 i.e, without "so" next textbox in that page should be enabled, if i enter "SO-123456" textbox should be disabled. without any click event i.e, while entering text in 1st textbox if it contains "so" textbox2 should be disabled, if textbox1 contains only integer(123456) textbox2 should be enabled.
I am using template field in a Gridview. I have a button in that. I also have a method which returns bool. Now I want to disable the button in the gridview if my method returns true. And enable the button if my method retuns false.
I am rather new to MVC applications, and one thing I am trying to accomplish is enabling or disabling stylesheets based on a Session value.I have stylesheets referenced in my Site.Master page in this manner:
So if the 'cssRule' Session value is null, no CSS loads. Currently this is working fine, but it is not exactly what I am looking for. Right now I set the Session value in the Controller when the user logs in, but ultimately I need to set the value of theSession variable depending on if a user clicks the enable or disable button.
I have a checkbox and a textbox in a GridView (for every row), and I'd like to be able to write some javascript that would enable and disable the textbox depending on the state of the checkbox (checked or unchecked). I guess I'd have to give JS the row index somehow.
I have a tab container in aspx page and i want to enable disable the last tab in aspx page my tab container is like below
[Code]....
Now for disabling the last tab i used the following in code behind page load:
//tabAdvanceSettings.Enabled = false;
I also want to enable this tab panel on client side when a user uses a shotrcut like Ctrl + Shif + A as shown below but this shortcut only enables the tab not the two user controls ptresent in the last tab. The code for enabling the last tab is :
