Filling Out Page Info Based On Route To Page
Jul 19, 2010
I have 2 forms, one is filled out when a quote is supplied to a customer, if this quote is succesful a project is created and added to the database. On my form I have 2 buttons, one to simply submit the quote information to the database and I would like the second to, when clicked submit the information to the database and then use this information to fill out some of the fields on the Projects form. I have thought about doing this 2 ways:
I read you could use session variables to store the information, or since the data is already in the database, would it be posssible, that if the user has been directed to the projects page from the enquiries page that it fills in the information into the projects form?

I have a master page with a form on it. It's a people search form. When the user clicks on the search button it goes to the search results page that uses the same master page. With the code below I get the info off the master of the current page. Howdo I grab that info from the first page?
Here's the code:
Master page:
< FORM id=formEmpSearch method=post action=~/About/peopleSearch.aspx runat="server">
< asp:TextBox style="WIDTH: 153px; HEIGHT: 12px" id=txtSearchName onfocus="this.value=''" runat="server" CssClass="searchBox">
Master Code Behind page:
Imports System
Imports System.Web.UI
Imports System.Web.UI.WebControls
Partial Class mstrIntranet
Inherits System.Web.UI.MasterPage
Public Property mSearchName()
Get
Return txtSearchName.tex
End Get
Set(ByVal value)
txtSearchName.text = value
End Set
End Property
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
txtSearchName.Text = "People Search"
End Sub End Class
Search Results Code Behind page:
Partial Class PeopleSearch2
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
Public SearchName As String
Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim mpTextbox As TextBox
mpTextbox = CType(Master.FindControl("txtSearchName"), TextBox)
SearchName = mpTextbox.Text

I have a FileUpload control in the Source page. On the Upload button handler, I read the file into memory (after doing some validations) and since it's always going to be a TXT file, I create a string that I need to pass to the Destination page. I thought of using Cross Page postback and set the PostBackUrl property of the upload button. But it appears that the breakpoint in the Upload button handler is never hit. It directly goes to the Page_Load in the Destination page. If I can't use Cross Page postback and don't want to use Session or the database, how do I pass this string from Source page to the Destination page?

I am trying to set up with a pay portal. The example they gave to add the "buy now" button was a standard form in HTML with inputs. I need to keep the form in .aspx because I have some of the values populating from another page. How can I pass the information in my .aspx page to their .cfm page?

I have a multi tenant system and I need to allow administrators to edit the information of other customers. I believe the correct way to do this is to append the customer ID to each request, and update my routes accordingly. How do I make ASP.NET accept and use something like this in the controller (order doesn't mean much to me): [URL] and how would I pass and consume that in my controller? The ASP.NET tutorials skip this... (or I don't know where to search)

I have three Divs on the page and they are absolute positioned. Lets call them leftDiv,middleDiv,rightDiv and middleDiv width is 900px which is okay but the left and right divs should fill the remaining the left and right parts respectively no matter what screen size is.
The reason why I use absolute positioning is because it is the only way to use height:100% to fill the page.
So how can I fill the remaining parts?
Of course these divs separate page into three pieces according to their names imply.

I have an application called barcode available on a server on the web. The application is used to generate barcodes. The user is able to save her progress directly on her desktop, however though whenever the user try to load the saved progress. It is doesnt remotely connect to the server, instead, it defaults only the saved copy on her desktop. so for example
we have the following aspx created
barcoded.aspx. The barcoded.aspx is available on the server. the page has the following information
Name: PRT321-1 Code: 456789-1000
Label: 678900-001-001
Now, this information is saved as webpage.html. however though, when the user goes to the saved location and clicks on the saved copy, it automatically load the copy as a webpage and allow the user continue with the modification online but that is not the case. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

i'm having this issue, in ASP.NET MVC 2 where I'm adding a drop down list on the master page and filling it with data from an abstract master controller. When an option is selected an submit button clicked, it reroutes you to a new page. so lets say
the page lives on http://domain.com/landingPage i'm on: http://domain.com/landingPage i select option and submit takes me to
http://domain.com/landingPage/Projects/FramedPage i select again and now the post tries to go to:
http://domain.com/landingPage/Projects/landingPage/Projects/FramedPage because of the action="" i have set on the form tag.
MasterPage:
<form method="get" action="landingPage/Projects/FramedPage">
<%= Html.DropDownList("navigationList")%>
<input id="navSubmitBtn" class="btnBlue" type="submit" value="Take Me There" /> [code]...
The problem i am having is that if I am ON that page

I have a Web User Control that is sitting in a Tabcontainer on a web page. The user control is on tab 1 and has a listview control in it. In the listview control I have a textbox called txtWorkOrderID. In tab 2 I have a gridview with a button in one of the columns. When the button is clicked I want to grab the ID from the row I'm on and fill the txtWorkOrderID with it on tab 1. I've got things to work as far as grabing the ID and switching back to tab 1, but I keep getting a null reference when I try to put the value into the txtWorkOrderID which tells me its not finding the control. I am using .netVB in VS10. how to reference the textbox in the control on tab 1. here is what I have so far. [Code]....

I'm trying to make an application that can host multiple ecommerce front ends, so I need to figure out how to route all requests to one class which then parses templates and handles all output.
So my question is then how do I route all requests to one class?
In PHP I would use mod_rewrite and have all requests go to index.php and add "main = new MainClass();", but I have no idea on how to achieve this with ASP.NET
The MVC framework isn't what I'm looking for, since I will host several domains with one system.

there's a label control on the master page..if its value is "Value1" ,I want this CSS Sprite to display on my webform..if the Value is "Value2"..the CSS sprite should use some different image..just the image needs to be changed ..nothing else in that Sprite..
I found out that I can use "FindControl" method to find out what value that Label Control of Master Page's currently got..
Now how do I change that image on the banner ?? How do I go about it ? Also that CSS Sprite now is a user control named "myBanner.ascx"(earlier was an aspx file)..Now do I need to make 2 diff usercontrols or I can implement some logic in one usercontrol itself ?
Should I make 2 copies of this "myBanner.ascx" with JUST the "image name" changed in its CSS ?
What I want is ONE banner which has been made using CSS Sprite ..Now if the "Label Control's "value in the master page is "Value1" then the image to be used on that banner is "IMAGE1" else if "Label Control's" value is "Value2" then "IMAGE2" should be used in that sprite..

My Master Page has a heading with tabs. The code looks something like:
<CT:Tab ID="tabHome" runat="server" Url="/index.aspx" Text = "Home" Highlight="true" />
<CT:Tab ID="tabFun" runat="server" Url="/fun.html" Text = "Fun"/>
<CT:Tab ID="tabBlog" runat="server" Url="/blog" Text = "Blog"/>
I can think of two ways to control which tab is highlighted from within a user control:Have the user control implement an interface. The master page can decide which tab to highlight based on which interface is implemented, or based on a method in the interface that returns a string.In the Page_Load (or Page_Init) function, tell the master page (via FindControl or via a function in the Master Page) which control to highlight.I don't really like either of these solutions. Is there a clean way I could control which tab is highlighted from the control at design time (i.e., in the aspx file)?

I have an aspx page that I populate to create a diploma. I thn have code that does a "window.print." Unfortunately, the diploma prints with the name of the page and "Page 1 of 1" at the top and the address of the page and the date printed at the bottom. These ruin the diploma. How can I print this page programmatically WITHOUT the header and footer info?
Here is the code I use to populate the diploma page and print it:

Looking at the asp.net v4 URL Routing it's easy to see how to access routing data from basically anywhere in the app.
Via: Page.RouteData.Values["blah"]
Unfortuantely the Route data always is blank by the time i hit the page on my v 3.5 implementation of routing. I was wondering if there was any way to either pass the route values to the final page so i can use them there - i really don't want additional logic in my handler file and i have loads of Routes and don't want many RouteHandlers.

I am using URL Routing to route user to his profile page, which is a child page. Now the problem is that all the images, javascripts references are distorted when i user the url to reach that page whether logged in or not logged in (both the cases). But after reaching this page when i login from this page thru my modal popup login control, all the references seem to work fine. It is to be noted that i am still in that same page which i reached after url routing. So upon logging from here the whole page works and displays fine.
How come the references are automatically adjusted when i am logging in from this page and are not referenced when i log in from other page and route here or when i am logged out?
Global.asax code:
void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes);
}
public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)
{
routes.Add("UseridRoute", new Route
(
"profile/{user}",
new CustomRouteHandler("~/UserProfile.aspx")
));
}

I am able to route my urls to an existing page. Here is how our scenario is currently working:
On Default.aspx, we have several links that link to pdf files on the server. The filenames of these files change dynamically which is why we need the url routing. When the user clicks on of the urls, the link is routed to the getFile.aspx page that has logic in it to determine which file to open.
Is there a way to have the getFile.aspx page to open in the same window as the default.aspx page?
Otherwise, I need for the getFile.aspx page to close after the intended processing is complete, and I've not been able to close it without getting the close window dialog box. I figure if it opens in the same browser window, I can redirect back to the default.aspx page when processing is finished.

Is it possible, from within ASP.NET MVC, to route to different controllers or actions based on the accessing device/browser? I'm thinking of setting up alternative actions and views for some parts of my website in case it is accessed from the iPhone, to optimize display and functionality of it. I don't want to create a completely separate project for the iPhone though as the majority of the site is fine on any device.

I need to create a web page where the user can select from a variety of categories via a dropdown list, then enter a search term into a textbox to provide a search term. The category is going to dictate which controller to use, and the search term will be a query parameter for the List action of each controller.
What I can't figure out is how to dynamically create the route based on the users selection. How do I get the values selected from the dropdownlist and textbox into Url.RouteUrl?
