What is the best way to pass Values from one page to another in ASP.NET(C#)I am using a GRID and has EDIT column in it. So when user clicks on the Edit link the values of the row that has been clicked is passed onto another page (Edit form).Which is best way to pass values, considering some data may be sensitive User data.

I want to be able to edit a trade by having an edit button on the GridView. When the edit button is clicked for a record, I want to go to a new page called EditTrade.aspx page. This new page might have a DetailsView form in Edit mode and I want to populate it with the information using the tradeId from the GridView.My question is what's the best way to pass the tradeId to the page? Should I use Session State? Something else? I'm trying to learn ASP.NET and would like some advice on best practise.

I am using VS 2008 SP1. My also have included CSS Friendly adapter [URL] in my project ( I mentioned this because my GridView Empty data template is not showing when using GridView's CCS Friendly adapter). I have a GridView and a DetailsView. When a record in GridView is selected its details information is shown in the Details View. Type of Data source I am using is ObjectDataSource. I have a list of cases that are displayed on our intranet home page. They are all in a gridview. I have a view button which will go and display more information about the case on a different page. Now for some reason the jobID is the same as the ClientID so instead of being say clientID=34&jobid=148 its just clientID=34&jobID=34. I have posted the code which i am using. I believe this started when i deleted a load of unwatned test cases from the DB itsself

Since the values for the entity are within a user control, I have stored a reference to the control in Session and in the updating event, set the new instance to the value of the entity from the user contol property (which also pulls values from the form viaother properties of the control):

My question is, how can I get the update method to pass this entity to the update method in my BLL class? It seems the Update method requires an ID or reference to the original object to use in determining whether any changes have taken place, but I don't really want to do this. In other words, I just want to use the Update event on my ObjectDataSource to pass my entity to the method ("Update") I set as a property and then let this business method handle the update of the data. Shown below, is the BLL update method I want to call:

When I try to call this as it stands now, I get an error: ObjectDataSource 'MasterDataSource' could not find a non-generic method 'Update' that has parameters: ID, entity. Previously, I'd set up a long list of parameters of basic data types (string, int, boolean), but this is rather cumbersome and I was hoping to use an entity for this (FYI, I also got the same type of error when I tried this approach, but with the ID as the
last parameter in the list). Perhaps what I'm doing here is atypical to how the ODS is normally used?? Has anyone done something like this successfully?

I have a gridview, which on the row data bound method that inserts a row when comparing values on a particular field. If the two values are different, a new row is inserted, if not no row is inserted. This coding is working as a grouping gridview, and is working correctly. However, I have problem, and problem is counting the rows between each group, which I want to display in my blank row between each group, the value of which I am holding in a hiddenfield.
When I try to do it, the first group doesn't show the result, but is displayed on the next group. I am pretty sure that I am doing something wrong. My approach is that if the value between the last row and the existing row are different, then the value is one, on the next row data bound event, if the values are the same then the value is increased by one, else the value is one because it is a new group. Here is my code:

I am doing loan sysytem where you first select the amount you want to borrow and click apply. the problem im getting is i cant seem to be able to redirect the amount selected to my second view where the client fill up the form.
