I have to link any selected record from my gridview to a new pop up form i.e pass the query string to a new form, using a command button. The new button will allow the user to add new information about the particular record and save it. A detailsview form would not work as the information that needs to be added is quite complex. I am using VB.

I'm customizing a NopCommerce store, and am using a gridview to display and sort the products. All that works well. I like how the external pager (user control) works with the gridview, with one exception -- it uses the hyperlink control, so I lost viewstate, which I need to retain for both the search page and to retain the gridview sort options. Based on the page selected (from the pager control), I query the database and rebind the gridview. So, I switched the user control to use LinkButtons instead of Hyperlinks. This is the sample code for one of the buttons:

I set a breakpoint inside the lbCommandClick method, but it never gets hit. Reading other posts tells me that I would have to add the dynamic controls in the OnLoad method, but since this all happens based on other data on the page (say search results), I don't think I can do it onLoad. However, the link buttons do work to cause a postback, and my viewstate is saved correctly. The only problem is that I do not know which button was clicked. I could check Request.Params["__EVENTTARGET"] onLoad, but that is kind of a hack -- I'd much rather be able to set the event handler in the user control and use the CommandArgument property. But, what I have tried so far fails.
Especially one that would allow me to set the EventHandler in the User Control? (e.g. OnlbCommand="PagerLBPageChange" )
I have a gridview with item template and I want the text in that item template label to come from a method in a code behind.

I want to call this method but I'm getting the errors: "
"The best overloaded method match for 'employeepayment.RegTime(string)' has some invalid arguments"
"Argument '1': cannot convert from 'object' to 'string'"
Someone know the answer?. I thought I was right to use Eval.
I have a simple table, ID,Fruit,StockSo, the rows are its primary key (ID), Fruit type (Orange, Apple etc) and Stock (1 is it is in stock, 0 if it is out of stock).I have a grid view on a page which lists the rows. What I would like is a button that executes a SQL command based on the row.(The command is just an update to change the Stock field from 1 to 0).The query i tried was UPDATE [Table] SET [Stock] = 0 WHERE id = @id

I have a custom gridView with the following code:
<asp:GridView ID="gvCustomEditors" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False"
I have 3 gridviews in one of my web page, each of which will display different data based on the typeid. I have simplified the system structure in the image below(further description will be stated below the image):
As shown in the image above, the web site(presentation layer) will work closely with the Business Logic layer(BLL) and Data Access Layer(DLL). ObjectDataSource control will be the middle man to select, update, insert and delete the data in the gridviews.
During Select, returned data from the database at DAL will be stored in a datatable and return to BLL and then the website itself.
[code]....
However, the Update(command button) and Delete(template field) doesn't work, the RowUpdating and RowDeleting event wasn't trigger when I click on the button, but it works if I set the gridviews' datasourceid to the objectdatasource.
I have a gridview that is populated from a database. Each row has a number of button commands. first_name = gvAgent.SelectedRow.FindControl("txtEditFName")
If the user clicks on Inbox or Sent links, the inbox or sent tables with appropriate content taken from Message_Inbox database table should be shown on right. use asp.net panel controls hide/show to show/hide these tables. when user clicks on message subject link in these tables, the read-only view message page should be shown.
If the user clicks on Drafts link, the drafts tables with appropriate content taken from Message_Inbox database table should be shown on right.when user clicks on message subject link in these tables, the pre-composed form should be shown. the user should allowed to send or save this message.
