I have lots of items in my gridview and would like to collapse parts of it according to the item type, can this be done relatively easy (and without the use of AJAX) are there any available controls that can do this.

View 1 RepliesI am using a collapsible child gridview inside a parent gridview. When I click on the expand image, the data to displayed is put up correctly, however when I make some changes in the child gridview, they seem to be lost!! That is, the changes do not get reflected in the database.
View 3 RepliesI have a page that has the layout seen below (Keep in mind this screenshot is from another one of posts) so it has explanations about that issue and not this new post. But I cant create a new image, so it will work to show what I am having issues with. When you arrive to the page you get the first in the image below. The DVR search is already expanded and you can select a name and search or chose a different type of type. I have the gridview below tied to my objectdatasource which works great and was working great until we added the collapsible panels. If I perform a search on DVR name, results are returned in the image view and everythign works. I can then change to List view and that works great.. gridview binds and all functionality works. But the issue now is if I click on the "Date Search" link on the Search Options menu, my panels expand and collapse as expected now that I clicked Date Search, I enter my dates adn click search and results are returned..
Then the issue is that sorting doesn't work. But it does work for the initial search IF performed by the DVR Name. Searching by DVR name sorting and paging works.. but i change to another panel and hit search, the gridview is updated with new results but the sorting doesnt work. I receive this error when I try the date search.. same for All other searches except the first one. Is having the textboxes within a collapsible panel causing my issue? Error message when I click a column to sort on. But like I said, if I just do a search using the first open panel which is the DVR name, sorting works fine. ObjectDataSource 'ObjectDataSource1' could not find a non-generic method 'SelectInfo' that has parameters: sdate, edate. Here is my gridview control code..

I have a search page containing a collapsible panel with several controls including text, radio, drop list and check box. In the same page there is a gridview to display search result and links to other pages.Everytime I click on a link in the gridview, the viewstate is only maintained if I nevigate with the pagination of the gridview. However if I click on a link in the gridview and click the back button to the search, everything goes back to default, and the search results will be gone from the gridview. How may I enable the controls and the gridview to remain the same if I hit back button to it?

How to bind other grid view on clicking + sign..
I need to solve a problem with showing some gridviews in a web page. Initially I wanted to have a series of buttons on top of each gridview and have the page loaded with all gridviews set on visible=false and then change to visible=true at the click on the corresponding button. This is though quite boring to do since I have around 50 gridviews and I would need to keep track of each gridview status and preserve that status for each click (postback). I was wondering if having the gridview in a collapsible panel was a better solution, however I'm not sure how I am supposed to add the gridview into that collapsible panel.

On row 2, the collapsible panel don't work anymore (the label is not clickable). It gets even worse on row 3 where the product category accordion pane doesn't open anymore. This is the structure:

I would like to find controls in the detailsview control placed in the EmptyData Template of the gridview. I am trying to create Insert new record for the gridview control.
1. If there are existing records in the table - works fine and sets my two values: I placed Detailsview and Insert Button in the footer of the gridview. I needed to set the values of two fields. When I click on the Insert button it saves new record and sets the field with the value (code attached - works fine). I also have a popup extender that opens detailsview - this works just fine.
2, If ther are not records in the table - saves record but cannot find and set controls on the detailsview Same thing setup in the EmptyData Template. The record is saved but I cannot Find and set the field value on the control.

I am giving column names for this grid from some other .aspx page by passing column names using querystring.Because i am using this grid for three different pairs of column names. i would like to know how to apply Required Field Validator, Regular Expression Validator and Range Validator on Gridview textboxes. So that by using those validators i want to validate user inputs. And i would also like to know how to add rows at runtime for this grid.
