Forms Data Controls :: Create Multiple Independent Gridvews In Runtime?
Dec 27, 2010
I'm trying to create multiple gridviews for a number of individuals based on a selection from a dropdownlist. The user will select his choice from the dropdownlist and from there a query is run to find the number of gridviews to create. Each gridview will also have its own data to bind. I believe I have most of it, I just can't get the gridview to show up. My thinking is to create the labels, then insert a gridview, bind it, and then repeat the process all over.
I have a aspx form that I would like to put three grids on:Grid1 would be a listing of address's (key is residenceID)Grid2 would be a listing of Invoices (key is invoiceid, foreign key is residenceID)Grid3 would be a listing of payments (if any) for the above invoices (foreign key is invoiceid)When I click on a address on grid1 I would like grid 2 to show only invoices that are assiciated with the click on address and grid 3 would then onlky show payments for a selected invoce.
I build a DetailsView and assigned datasourceID= SqlDataSource1
I bulid select command at runtime.
string selectcmd = "SELECT * FROM CDInfo WHERE CDID=@id"; SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Add("@id", Request.QueryString["id"]); SqlDataSource1.SelectCommand = selectcmd; //The only problem is that I try to call the select method //but the compiler tell me I have to add a DataSourceSelectArguments SqlDataSource1.Select(); //I don't know what argument to add, so I put DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty // But it says variable "@id" must be decleared //I don't Know what's going on.
I have a SQL query that returns about 5-10 records. For each one of these records I want to query another table using values in that row as parameters and create/populate a GridView. Can I create these GridViews and SQL connections programmatically in a for loop? I mean, I can't just plop ten GridViews and SQLConnections on my page at design time because I'm not certain how many rows will be returned in the first query. What should I do?
I just want to make sure that I got this right. If I have two update panels, and updatepanel1 has 10 dynamic controls created from an external button that resides on the page by default.. and then i have a second button which also is on the page by default but is an asynctrigger to updatepanel2...
then when the first updatepanel1 is populated with dynamic controls, then when I click button2 to update the second updatepanel2 with some data, the dynamic controls in updatepanel1 wil;l still remain there right? but does it persist by itself on postback? And if so why?
because when I click button2 to update updatepanel2, it does a partial page postback. So when it does a partial page postback, does that mean it does not destroy updatepanel1's dynamic controls?
I need to filter data in a View using three dropdownlists that are populated independently of one another. The items in the second ddl are not based on the items in the first, etc. Each ddl is populated using its own sql statement. I want to be able to use each of these dropdownlists independently of the other two, but I want the data that is returned to be based on the values already in the other dropdownlists when I make a selection change.
For example: DDL1 is populated with Horsepower values from its own SQL statement.
DDL2 is populated with Gallons per Minute from its own SQL statement, unrelated to what is chosen in DDL1.
DDL3 is populated with Diameter values from its own SQL statement, unrelated to either of the other DDLs.
I want to be able to make a selection from any of the DDLs and filter data based on the selection, and whatever the current value is for the other two DDLs.
I'm coding in C# and I think I may need to create a delegate and an event to listen for when the SelectedIndexChanged event fires on any of the DDLs. This is slightly more complicated than anything I've coded up to this point, I'm a beginner, and I'm not even sure I'm aiming in the right direction for a solution.
How can I access the datalist at run time to create, a table layout but with the first cell having a rowspan of 2? Below is the HTML source code to demonstrate.
I've figured out how to create the controls in the format I want, but now I am confused as to how create more than one set of them. I set everything to new and increment the names of each control, but it's only updating the one set. Here is my code:
I am crating one web site in which i have to show date information wise in gridview. for this i have to set particular date at header in below this i have show information of this date. Here i jsut post a link for similar example. [URL] in tha Above link you can see date. below this events with particular date. so i have to show similar like this. but not getting how to put date between two lines.
Among the many aspects of asp.net that I haven't focused my development on yet is caching. I have a perfect application for it now, I think, with a GridView that sits inside a repeater, and is bound in the Repeater ItemDataBound event. The contents of the GridView will remain static for each Repeater data item for each Client. The nature of the data in the GridView is that it can change from day to day per Client, but wouldn't need to be refreshed more frequently than that. The Page istelf only deals with one at a time Client based on a QueryStringParameter. My questions are a) how do I cache the DataTable so that a call to the DataBase isn't made each time Repeater item is bound and b) can I create/cache multiple DataTables (one for each Client) and let them live for day, checking for existence before calling the SQL stored procedure to regenerate the data?
I have a requirement to create multiple hyperlinks dynamically in a single GridView Column. The number of hyperlinks are not not known in advance and will depend on the results brought up by a query. How do I create the same?
I am trying to design my logic to do this but I want to create a dataSet which will have records from several databases, The records all have the same layout.
I am reagin the connection string paths from a table in a database.
I am asking for your help in trying figure out my logic.
Should I use the connectionString builder in conjunction with a loop to Connect, read a record into a dataset Until therer are no more records to be read from my databse table with the database name/paths tables ?
Here is my beginning code which deals with one database:
I'm trying to make a form that could have one or multiple textboxes. I have a textbox and a button to add additional textboxes.
I have no problem adding a second textbox inside a panel but I want to be able to keep adding more textboxes every time the link button is clicked and later reference those boxes to be saved. I would also like to maintain the value of the textboxes there. They are not saved to the database until all the necesary texboxes have been added.
