i have done this with a dropdown but now i'm trying with a gridview and i'm having lots of problems.

the delete was working ok when it was a commandfield now he dont do nothing, the donwload file part isnt working, i have something wrong in my code, heres the code behind.

I have a gridview with linq and in the itemtemplate I have a column like this :
Bind("SUPERFICIE","{0:N00}")
If I display my gridview, I have this kind of value : 6'555
When I delete this row I have this error :
Failed to define one or more properties of type DS.MY_TABLE 6'555 is not a valid value for Decimal.
Apparently, when I use a format on bind, it change my values in my ds and I cannot delete my row!
I don't understand, because in my logic with the bind format I don't need to correct some formats for delete a row !
I have visual 2010 with net 3.5 web app. I was implementing EntityFramework in my project and added a gridview to a entity source control. It worked ok, with select, update, and delete buttons enabled on the grid. But then, i needed to add a template field bound to a Foreign table, so my users select value from a list instead of writing the code. After that, my app fires error when i delete. I tried everything, inclue dakeyNames, write code on my RowDeleting, RowDeleted, RowCommand, but error persists.
Now, i can delete the row, but it then i get the error Object reference not set to an instance of an object If i implemente delete code on RowCommand i get the error: Store update, insert, or delete statement affected an unexpected number of rows (0). Entities may have been modified or deleted since entities were loaded. Refresh ObjectStateManager entries.
I am using an objectDataSource for the first time. My objectDatasource looks like this:
<asp:ObjectDataSource ID="ObjectDataSource1" runat="server" TypeName="CustomerData"
DataObjectTypeName="Customer" DeleteMethod="DeleteCustomer" InsertMethod="InsertCustomer"
SelectMethod="GetCustomersByObject" UpdateMethod="UpdateCustomer" OldValuesParameterFormatString="original_

When I am creating a new form, I am inserting "RequestId" of particular form in Textbox as well as uploading multiple file (that comes in Gridview)and on save button click, those gridview multiple files with "RequestId" are saved in Database as below:
Id Request Id File Name
1 12 Abc.jpg
2 12 Xyz.doc
3 12 Pqr.png
4 11 Abc.xls
5 11 aa.jpg
NOTE: Auto increment of "Id" is true.
Now, I want that If I delete any file from the Gridview(which has all uploaded files), I want that file to be deleted from database table also.Currently on Deleting file from Gridview, files from "Folder" are deleted not from Database.
I need you assistance, Dynamic Delete LinkButton with CommandName=Delete gives me an error: Delete can only be called on a valid data item. nfact I am designing a Complex Grid using .Net 3.5 ListView Control with Scrollbar and Fixed Toolbar: This grid consist of 3 Tables:
1- footer
2- Toolbar Control
3- Scrolling Data Grid with Header
ListView give us only one ItemPlaceHolder to Bind Data as per LayoutTemplate, so I cannot able to manupulate my Toolbar Controls with ItemTemplate :(, therefore I decide to use ItemDataBound to add ImageButtons Dynamically using Init Page Event and I am able to get the result as you saw above:
ImageButton with funnel icon is with CommandName="Filter"
ImageButton with magnifier icon is with CommandName="View"
ImageButton with stop icon is with CommandName="Delete"
Now I can able to handle Filter and View with OnItemCommand Event but when I click Delete button I am getting an error as shown below: The grid used CSS I am sending you the HTML and code behind to resolved this problem: HTML CODE:

How do I reference the delete button to add the delete confirmation box when I have both the Edit and Delete buttons as the last two columns in the Gridview control. The following code works fine without any issues when I have the delete button only:
protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType != DataControlRowType.DataRow) return;
int lastCellIndex = e.Row.Cells.Count - 1;
Button db = (Button)e.Row.Cells[lastCellIndex].Controls[0];
db.OnClientClick = "if (!window.confirm('Are you sure you want to delete this record?')) return false;";
}
But, when I have both the Edit and the Delete buttons, I get the following error when I click the edit button while the delete button works fine.
Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: index
How do I reference the delete button so the edit button is not affected in this case?
Using "Enable Delete" from Gridview control, I can delete (besides, update, sort, paging, etc) data from the database (this is done automatically). However, how can I delete the actual image that resides in my image folder (i.e. from "pix" folder )? What is the best way to delete image? If using code behind, how? Please write a full code for me. Here is my source code.
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="photoID"
I am using Sharepoint Designer and trying to insert a Delete button into a gridview. I added this to the top of my ASPX:
<%@ Register Tagprefix="SharePoint" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls"
Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %>
and I added this as a Gridview column:
<SharePoint:DeleteItemButton
runat="server"
ID="CustomFormDeleteItemButton"
ControlMode="Edit"
/>
and this is the error I get:
An error occurred during the processing of . System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataControlFieldCollection must have items of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataControlField'. 'SharePoint:DeleteItemButton' is of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.DeleteItemButton'.
I am uploading an Excel file into DataSet/Gridview but once the file is uploaded, then i want to be able to make changes the data that is uploaded like making changes the data inside the Gridview or deleting the data etc. Here is my code:
<div>
<asp:FileUpload ID="FileUpload1" runat="server" />
<asp:Button ID="btnUpload" runat="server" Text="Upload" OnClick="btnUpload_Click" />
<br />

somehow I broke this b/c it was working... I've got a gridview with a standard delete button. here is the top of the gridview:
[Code]....
and here is the SQL source:
[Code]....
here is my rowdeleting event:
[Code]....
the error: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.Parameter name: index happens after that on line 31 of ss.gv_NotificationDetails
[Code]....
interestingly if I add more columns to the datakeynames, the error moves up one line to e.Values(0unfortunately I do not remember everything I have changed since the last time I tested this.
I have the reorderlist and a DELETE as link button. So far so good as far as I can tell that when I clicked on the delete link button, it deletes photo value from the database per the ID PK. However, I want to be able to delete the right photo file on the server/disk (jpg, gif..) but I could not figure out the logic to do so.
View 1 RepliesA very simple question.
I am trying to delete a row from a Gridview but getting error in my Gridview1_Rowdeleting method on the line Gridview1.DataKeys(e.RowIndex).Value;
Error: Method, delegate or event is expected. Here is my Gridview

<asp:BoundField DataField="Advert" HeaderText="Advert" HeaderStyle-HorizontalAlign="Left">
<HeaderStyle HorizontalAlign="Left" />
</asp:BoundField>

Here is my code behind method which gives error:
protected void Gridview1_Rowdeleting(object sender, GridViewDeleteEventArgs e)
{
int x = _Gridview1.DataKeys(e.RowIndex).Value; //Error: Method, delegate or event is expected.
}
Try to delete a row in a gridview and get this error:

Have tested the sql command in the query builder. I use Mysql and c#.

I have an empty gridview with imagebutton,fileupload control,upload and delete buttons. I have uploaded one image to imagebutton through upload button. How to delete that row from the gridview.
I am using this code to delete a row
protected void grdImages_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e)
{
if (e.CommandName == "Delete")
{
int deleteRowIndex = int.Parse(e.CommandArgument.ToString()); // Here i am getting the rowindex
if (grdrow.RowIndex == deleteRowIndex)
{
grdImages.DeleteRow(deleteRowIndex);
grdImages.DataBind();
}
}
}
Its not deleting the row. What could be the problem??
I have a gridview control on my page that lists records and sorts them according to the most recent to the oldest record. The most recent record is first record at index 0, and I want the users to be able to only delete the first record in Gridview. Is this at all possible? I'd like there to be the word 'Delete' next to the first record only.

I have several "standard" GridViews in the "admin" side of a web site I am developing. In the past, none of these have ever shown any problems with a standard Delete.
To review: Each of the subject tables has a "RowID" field specified as Identity and as the Primary Key.The BoundField for the Rowid is set to ReadOnly. There is "Edit, Delete, Select" specified for the CommondField. Edit and Select operate as they should.
HOWEVER, Delete results in a "Must declare the scalar variable "@RowID" (with the associated "unhandled exception" verbiage).
The DeleteCommand text in the SqlDataSource for the GridView reads
DELETE FROM [Events] WHERE [RowID] = @RowID
along with
[Code]....
I have inspected and compared with similar forms that function correctly and can see no differences (except for the table names).
