Jan 25, 2011I have a Listview that houses a FileUpload control. However, after using findcontrol the next line of code tries to convert the filename into a string and produces the familar error object reference not found.
Note: I have used identical code in a formview and it works fine.

When the FormView is in Edit mode, ddlCategory is populated as expected by calling GetCategories(), which returns a List of categories. However, when the ListView is in Insert mode, ddlCountry is empty. I put a break point in GetCountries(), but it never gets called. If I change the name of the method, I get an error. So it recognizes the method at compile time, but does not call it at run time. I'm guessing this is an embedded binding issue of some kind, but I'm hoping someone can save me a lot of time by pointing out the solution.

This Sizes table contains 6 columns (ID_Sizes (int) primary key and the columns: OneSize, S, M, L, XL, XXL all are bit (true or false)). There is a relationship between Varer table and Sizes table. It says that I can only insert a value into the "fk_sizes_id - column" of varer table if that value already exists as primary key within the Sizes table. **** I'm starting by picking basic product values like productId, ProductName etc from the Varer (a) table ***** Then I'm picking the corresponding Sizes values (onesize, s, m, ...) from the Sizes table. Now within my ListView I'm showing the above result by using Eval, like this.

Mar 16, 2010I have a page where I use the ListView and DataPager.My listview is populated as a table where each row has a bit data a dropdownlist with some values and a link button. Now I am trying to pick out the selected value from dropdown list when I kick on my linkbutton. As long as I'm on page one, everything is woriking fine. But if I go to page three then I can not pick out the value I selected in the dropdownlist. I have tried to add a textbox in the listview and then I am able to get the value out I typed into the textbox independent which side I'm on.
Why can I pick out the value from textbox but not the selected value in dropownlist?

Dec 30, 2010i have a listview. The listview contains a usercontrol with ID="ucEquationBuilder1" which is added only! in the SelectedItemTemplate.I've came along some post which stated you can't find the control in the SelectedItemTemplate unless it is also in the the ItemTemplate.
To me this sounded ridiculous. Untill i ran some tests, and indeed i was able to find all other controls (TextBox's Labels) which where both inside the itemtemplate and the selecteditem template.
To me this is quite frustrating. Is there a way to retrieve the control which is only inside the SelectedItemTemplate without adding it to the itemtemplate?

the listview renders its layout / item template fine but when I click on edit to send it to edit mode it fails to find the dropdownlist ddlQA1YNM which is a bit ironic cause its the ddlQA1YNM that is making the call to ddlQA1YNM_ondatabound. Now it could be with the fact its on the databound stage. Not sure how that plays into the stack. I call ondatabound to determine what the dropdownlist value is and set the enabled status according on the load into edit mode.

Aug 31, 2010I have a listview and inside the listview I have a gridview. I'm binding data to the listview, then on the listview itemdatabound I'm binding the gridview. I want to make the gridview editable so I have an edit template and an edit command button. I have the event rowediting and inside there I set the edit index. Now normally I rebind the control and everything works. But if I rebind this gridview, nothing happens.
I can trace through the rowediting and everything is working. It's setting the edit index, it goes through the databind and gets the right data and binds it to the control. What is happening? Why isn't my rebound edit mode gridview showing up?
