Feb 25, 2011i've got a gridview and sql datasource. Its connected to a stored proc that has four optional parameters. In VS when i set up the data source, if i use the test option, and dont supply any values for the sproc, it returns all the values in the table which is what it should do. Now when i try to fill the gridview, it wont return anything at all unless i provide values for all 4 parameters.
It's not even trying to search because i had sql profiler open and nothing shows up until i provide all 4 values. any idea why it's doing this? How do i get it to actually bind even if provide less then all 4 (or none) of the values?

Feb 19, 2010I am using a gridview on an OrderList page to present data from a database. Paging is enabled on the gridview.
Each row provides a link to an OrderDetails page which is used to display/edit data for the selected order.
I want to be able to return from OrderDetails page to the OrderList page and to set the gridview pageindex.
What is the best way to do this?
Can I have multiple paramaters with NavigateURL (i.e. the orderid and the pageindex)?

Aug 22, 2010I have a gridview with paging. So for instance, I'm on say the page number 10, and I open the form details on a specific record_id (link). After I update/submit the form, it returns to page number 10. But, if I go to another page, for instance page 5, and submit the form, it returns to page 10.
I've tried some things, for instance history.back(), but it returns to the first page I went to, in this case page number 10 (or whatever the first page I go to).

Why Data Binding Does Not Remember The Old Values
Oct 3, 2010I have a classic ObjectDataSource and a ListView in my page. The List view just displays some data and when switched to edit template it allows the user to change the values. I want the user to edit just some values -- so I bind just these ones in the edit template.
The problem is that the other values suddenly turn to nulls or 0. I tried to bind all of the values at once and it works fine, but I cannot understand why the old/original values just disappear. Is there any way how to bind the old values?

Mar 28, 2010I have a grid view and I added edit and Save buttons to it. When I click on edit I am able to edit the data but when I click on save I amgetting the data before edit.
Please see my code below.
Eg: I have start date as 2005-10-10 12:00 AM so After I click On edit it is letting me to edit, So If I edit the start date to 2010-10-10 12:00 PM and click on the save button I am stil getting the old start date. which is 2005-10-10 12:00 AM instead of 2010-10-10 12:00 PM

Once we select on an item it should redirect to another page with customerId as a querystring parameter..
Now the problem is we have to save all the customerIds and need to send them to display page..and need to select next one once they done with previous one without going to the search page again..
Example:
if they got 10 customers in the search page then we need to send all 10 ids to display page by starting display of firstone and once they select next button on display page they have to move on to the next cutomer from that list..if they reached the end of list they have to start again from the first...we need to avoid the user going to the search page for each customer every time...

Nov 3, 2010I have a listview with paging.Every paging has 10 rows with with a username, an email and a checkbox.
I need to be able to check a couple of checkboxes, in different "pagings", press a button and send an email every to ever user that has been checked.
Trouble is I don't really know how to remember the selected checkboxes between each paging-press.
Deos anyone have a similar solution or a few tips on how to do this? I'd prefer to solv this without jQuery, but ordinare javascript or a C# solution works fine.

Apr 28, 2010I have a "search page" where the user enter some search criteria and a gridview where I display found records. When selecting "edit" on a row I open a second form to allow editing the found data. When the user click close button on the second form I want to go back to the search page. From the beginning I did just return (redirect to page 1) to the page but now the users also want to retain the search form with the serach criteria and found rows (also refreshing the found rows with possible changed data).
I can not just use a javascript with "history.back()" since the edit page might have done postbacks so that will not return to search page.Of course one solution would be to call the search page with a query string (or other ways to pass data between pages) containing the original search data but that solution might get messy.
