I want if the header of a particular column contains a word "S", the header and row turns red. I used following code to make header red and it works fine. How to make it such that the rows also turn red if condition is met ? I cannot hardcode in columns since the Gridview is autogenerate colums as data structure keeps changing.
Protected Sub GridView1_DataBound(ByVal sender
As
Object,
ByVal e
As System.EventArgs)Dim HeaderRow
As GridViewRow = GridView1.HeaderRowFor
Each c
As TableCell
In HeaderRow.CellsIf c.Text.EndsWith("S")
Then
c.BackColor = Drawing.Color.OrangeRed
End
If
Next
End

I have a listview and inside the listview I have a gridview. I'm binding data to the listview, then on the listview itemdatabound I'm binding the gridview. I want to make the gridview editable so I have an edit template and an edit command button. I have the event rowediting and inside there I set the edit index. Now normally I rebind the control and everything works. But if I rebind this gridview, nothing happens.
I can trace through the rowediting and everything is working. It's setting the edit index, it goes through the databind and gets the right data and binds it to the control. What is happening? Why isn't my rebound edit mode gridview showing up?
I have a GV that is populated via a reader: Using reader As SqlDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() I have autogenerate edit button=T but it will not go into editmode. Must I create template to handle this?
View 4 RepliesI have a GridView in MultiView and everything works fine. When page load everything looks good,but then when i try to edit something in my gridview it does postback and the whole gridview disappear from the multiview.
View 1 RepliesI have a Gridview that shows my data, I allowed it to have Editing and Sorting. I have achieved refreshing my GV with <META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="15">. however, when I Edit and it hits the time to refresh, I loose the Edit mode and starts at the beginning of the grid (I need to find the data again.) Is it possible to still have the refresh (15secs) then when Iam in EditMode, the Refresh stops, then after I have clicked UPDATE. the refresh time starts to count again. (i use VB)
View 7 RepliesI have been looking on the internet but don't seem to be able to find the answer. I am wondering is there a way to disable a validator on both the client and server side depending on the value of another control.
The situation is that I have a radiobutton that hides a textbox depending on the radionbuttonlist selected value . So I want to disable a validator on both server and clientside if the value selected is "N".
I have a repeater control that loads my data ok. I have a hyper link field in my repeater control. It looks like this:

I'm trying to change a Label's text property and colour properties depending if an event occurs on the page behind file.
Does anyone have a similar issue?
if (((Label)FindControl("Label1")).Text != null) - //getting Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
{
Label Labelmerchantid = (Label)FindControl("Label1");
Labelmerchantid.Visible = true;
Labelmerchantid.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red;
}
I would like to change color of the gridView depending on the value from table that is bounded to the grid. I actually don't show this value on the grid. I tried by using additional field with visible=false, but the cell is string empty in this way. I don't know how to solve this in some other way?
I used this code, but as I said the value is empty:
[Code]....
Is it possible to solve this by getting value directly from bounded table and not from rows cell?
Solved like this
currentID = Convert.ToInt32(GridView_ABC.DataKeys[0].Values[0]);
activityName = Convert.ToString(GridView_ABC.DataKeys[1].Values[1]);
DataRow row =
originalDataTable.Select(String.Format("EmployeeID = {0} AND ActivityName = '{1}'", currentID, activityName))[0];
I have a field "Active" which can contain either 1 or 0. In the aspx form, I am displaying it in a checkbox in gridview. If the database value is 1, I should have the checkbox as checked, otherwise it should be unchecked. How can this be done.
View 3 RepliesI have a gridview and would like to display one of 5 icons depending on the value returned from the database for that row (simply just A, B, C, D or E). Which event in my datagrid should I be looking at to check what value I'm getting? I presume once I can check a value I can simply set an image source using if statements?
View 4 RepliesI have a gridview that is populating from a SQL DB and working fine. However, based upon certain data I find in fields in the SQL table, I want to place a 'n' or a 'y' in extra columns in the gridview that I am assuming need to be templatefields. My thought was I could maybe add 8 template columns and then I could put a 'y' in the appropriate column based upon the data I find the table. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to do this. I want to do this at rowdatabound time ( i think) but I just cannot find out how to, in my code, put that 'y' in the columns. Is this the right way to do this or do I need to do it another way? How do I get that 'y' in the proper column?
View 3 RepliesI'm using a Gridview in VS2008 framework 2.0 to edit a field with standard edit/save/cancel buttons on each row. I have a textbox named TextBox1 in an EditItemTemplate tag, it's value is binded to my field with '<%#Bind("LOGIN_NM")%>'. This is a simple form a took from an old project. My problem is when I try to read the textbox in the GridView1_RowUpdating event, it keeps returning the original value and not the modified value. I spent some time figuring the cells, controls and all so I'm sure I'm reading the right textbox, I have only one. I also tried using:
CType(row.FindControl("TextBox1"), TextBox).Text but I can't get the modified text to store in the database. The exact same thing works in the old project.
i am using a menu in masterpage.Based on user login i want to disable some menuitems depending on role.how to do this?

The dataGrid view is being populated. The Autogeneratedcolumns is set to false. How do I change the colour of a cell of a row depending on the text? i.e. Row 2, column 5 says "Failed". I would like to change the colour of that cell to be red.
View 2 Repliesby default, my formview loads up to Editmode and it looks like this:

My Page_load looks like this:

Problem is if binding is not ran during postback here, buttons on the ItemInsert mode DO work, but the button on the ItemEdit mode DON'T work. However, if I don't bind the fv1 here during postback, controls will not load on the formview ItemEdit mode and databinding will not occur.
i have a detailstview and sql datasource I am retrieveing the data so far no problems but afteradding a dropdownlist in edit mode and clicking edit button I get this error"
'DropDownList1' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items.

I have a page that I need to disable, or re-direct to another page if a different type of user logs in.
The application has this page for one type of user but another type of user is not allowed access it.
How would you do this type of thing?
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a template field which has four itemtemplates that each hold a label in a gridview. These labels are always constant with the same strings. What I want to do is change the css formatting of these four labels depending on the value of a column. So the css formatting would have to be done for each row, not the whole column. I bind the gridview to a dataaccesslayer so there is no sqldatasource on the page. Does anyone have any idea how to do this and where it would be done. I will have the dataview with the data sorted in the correct order. The actual column that is used to alter the CSS will not be in the gridview although I could assign it to the datakeyname if that makes it easier as the data is not sensitive.
