I have a Calculate Button in an ItemTemplate Field in a detailsview.
When I am editing or inserting records, I would like this button to hidden obviously.
I tried the following [Code]....
Did not work
I also tried creating a click event out of the Edit linkbutton

Didnt work either...
If there is no value in the database, I would like to hide my hyperlink within a gridview. Here's what I have:
visible='<%# Eval("my_field").Is Not Null %>'
Of course the Is Not Null doesnt work, is there something I can do to check:
1) if not null then set visible true
2) if null then set visible to false
In this case I'm having, the ItemTemplate for various fields in my DetailsView (2 in my case) does not show up, but when you click the edit button, the EditItemTemplate shows up. I played with it, moving it around. No matter where I put it, one of the fields did not show up.
To get even stranger (and don't ask me how I came up with this), if I put a dummy boundfield BEFORE it, the ItemTemplate shows up. But this is totally absurd.

I have a gridview and in the gridview i have a an itemtemplatefield with a regular html hyperlink in it.
Based on the value of one of the columns in the gridview, i want to hide this hyperlink and just replace it with the value of another column

if Eval("Status") = 123 then instea of the above hyperlink, i just want <%# Eval("Customer") %>

I have a repeater bound to a datasource that servers as a list of birds. When the user clicks an item in the list the bird's image is displayed on the page. I want to change the background color of the item that is currently selected in the OnClick handler for the main item in my repeater's ItemTemplate.
I have changed the styling of controls prgrammatically before and it worked fine but in those cases i used the ID of the control to directly access it in my code behind file. But since this is some arbitrary item in a repeater I don't know it's ID at runtime, all I have is the sender object passed to the control's OnClick handler. So in my code behind file, I tried casting the sender object passed to the OnClick handler to the appropriate type and used Style.Add("background-color", highlitColor) but it failed to change anything.
I had a thought - maybe this sender object gets passed by value so all I did was change the Style of a COPY of the control item.
If this is indeed my problem, how do I start with a casted sender object in an event handler and get a reference to the actual control in order to change it's Style?

I've got a dropdownlist control that the user can select an an employee name and that should then fill in the detailsview control with specific information about that employee.
My dropdownlist control works fine and I do have AutoPostBack set to true. For some reason my detailsview doesn't work. There's no error message. The detailsview control just doesn't show up.

In page1 on clicking template field named Edit the record goes into detailsveiw (Edit mode) to next page.
In detailsview, I have already set True to AutoGenerateEditButton so that the user update record and Click UPDATE or CANCEL.
I want to show a message "Record Updated Successfully" on clicking update and the page redirects to the Page1 and refresh the page1 with the updated record.
In the code, I try to disable the control "RequiredFieldValidator" for it not to trigger when there is nothing in the "TextBox" "txtID".
View 6 RepliesI have a small question about the DetailsViewControl(DV).Probably most of us know there are three modes of a DV, edit, insert, and read-only.So we got edititemtemplate, insertitemtemplate and itemtemplate.Is there any actual difference between the 3 templates? I mean, if we don't generate the edit, insert and delete button by default. They are just three kinds of templates with different names, aren't they.
