What I'm trying to do is find a control within a nested repeater when the OnItemDataBound event is fired on the 'main' repeater.

This has driven me mental! And I've done stacks of web searches and ended up confusing myself even further.
I have a presentation to the CFO in two hours. I can't get a nested repeater control to work right, something to do with teh placement of the <table> tags I think.The first repeater first section works fine, then the child repeater shows the first child section right, but the next section of the parent repeater loses all the formatting applied at the parent table. I've tried vaious permutations of where to place the closing table tag of the outer and the inner and get different results, but never the right results.

what changed do I need to make to my code for it to achieve what I'm after.
At the moment I am getting a "cannot cast to type" error message with the below code.
I have also tried calling the ItemDataBound method in with the parent repeater tags and had no errors but when I clicked on the button it would just move back to the top of the page and would not hide or show any data. Also I have made the div style to none but the first record still shows its child but the rest don't.

I have a 3 level deep nested gridview. The expansion/contraction of each record was originally done with javascript. There were html <div> tags around each gridview. Since these were HTML div tags I could give them IDs that were dynamically bound to record ID value within the database. I then had onclick buttons that passed in a bound record ID value that coresponded to the appropriate div tag that needed to be expanded (e.g. display: inline (show it) or if it is already inline then display: none).
This worked beautifuly. Unfortunatley I wanted to be able to do in-girdview editing of the child records. When expands a parent record and clicks to edit a child record the OnRowEdit event fires which automatically generates a postback and resets the variables within the JavaScript. THEREFORE THE ENTIRE GRIDVIEW STATE BECOMES CONTRACTED.
So finally I decided to change the div tags to <asp: Panel> and the onclick images to .net clickable images (all .net objects no framework). This works because the state is remembered within each postback. However, the problem I'm having is I can't dynamically bind ID's for panel since this is not allowed. HOW CAN I GIVE THE PANEL <% Bind("id") %>. THAT I CAN REFER TO SO I CAN OPEN THE APPROPRIATE PANEL.
What I am trying to achieve:I am trying to take the value of the selected index and depending on what this value is (e.g. the case selection in the code below) run a different query on the dataset and then create a repeater control dynamically to output each row with an item template
that I can use css to style.
In other words: When a user choses a list item it shows only rows from the dataset that match the list item chosen. For example if a user choses Closed Tickets they only see rows from the dataset that have a STATUS of 'CLOSED'.

What I'm struggling with at the moment is:
1) That the case selection works but the selection of the appropriate data from the dataset doesn't seem to be happening. And this data isn't getting stored in rows as I had hoped.
2) I'm not sure entirely how to display the dynamically created repeater control in the admin.aspx page.

I have tried binding images to repeater from one folder called images . But now, I am trying to bind the repeater with different folder's images, based on which menu item is clicked like "Wedding", "Birthday". When "Wedding" is clicked then it repeater should be loaded from Wedding folder's images similarly with "Birthday".
Currently i am using following code to load from single folder.

I'm using the approach I found here:[URL] 306154 to implement a nested Repeater. Each parent item has one or more children items (the point of having the nested Repeater) with a dropdown horizontally aligned to each child item. In an effort to re-use the nested part of the Repeater I wanted to develop that piece as a user control but couldn't get it to work. I am wondering if it is even possible and if so how?

My other concern is how do I distinguish these checkboxes because basically what 's going to happen here is based on which checkbox is selected I need to query an xml file to get the location of a folder which I'm then going to zip up and allow user to download..So here's the breakdown. I have an accordion panel using jquery ui. Each panel hold a product and each product has the same checkboxes..so depending on which product the user wants to download files for which he/she will indicate by opening the accordion panel for that product and checking which checkboxes/file they want to download . Users can reply to a comment made in the parent repeater by clicking a link that opens a popup that inserts a row in the replies table. This is then displayed in the repeater as soon as the lists refresh. What I need to do is have a Delete comment link that only the user that inserted the reply can utilize. How do you get the command or onclick from a ImageBUtton that is in the child segment?

It seems my Eval(Container.DataItem, "JobNID") is not working and I assume this is because the datasource of the outer (parent) repeater is an anonymous type. So how am I supposed to access a particular field of my anonymous type?
I have a nested repeater which displays a food menu - e.g.

I'm having a problem trying to retrieve a dropdownlist value that is located within a nested repeater. Basically I'm trying to create a shopping cart that allows the user to select a shipping method and the shipping method is contained in the repeater. So my page structure looks something like this.

To me this should work, but the problem I'm facing is that there are no repeater items. The Items.Count property in the repeater is 0. I am not calling DataBind on the Gridview nor the Repeater before this code is reached (this code is the first thing that happens in my button click event) and my binding is done inside a !IsPostBack statement in my page load. I've made sure databinding is not occurring by setting breakpoints on the code that databinds both the gridview and repeater.
It seems to me like the nested repeater is losing it's viewstate or something on a postback. If that's the case, how can I get the selected value of that dropdown control inside a nested repeater?
