View 7 RepliesI have binded 2 fields in a gridview ("Type" and "TypeWho") which are pulled out of a SQL database... When both the binded fields display "Note", I only want to display "Note" once so that it doesn't display "Note Note" to the end user... there are other values which are stored under the fields: "Type" and "TypeWho" or I would just remove one of the fields altogether... below is code for my binding fields with in the gridview

I have a "database explorer" page that is desgined to be pointed to an unknown database and allow users to browse the data, so it basically uses the SQL system tables to develop its queries and pull in data to tables using auto-generate columns.The problem that I have is that I would like certain types of columns to have certain formats and I'm wondering the best way to go about it. I could format the column in code in the RowDataBound event I assume, but I'm wondering if there some better standard way to do this? Is there a setting of any kind that I can use? For example I want all of the datetime fields to be formated for short date, like {0:d}, I want decimal fields to have 4 decimal places, etc.

View 2 RepliesI have a Label1 (Which displays the userName on a page fetched from the c sharp). Now how do I display this Label1 on a text box(UserId), that's already binded, on the same page?
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:textbox
id="UserId"
runat="server"
Text="<%#
Bind('UserId') %>"
/>
</EditItemTemplate>
I just wanted the current userName information included during the insert.
In a DetailsView Templatefield i have some binded Labels.
I need to show - hide Templatefield or the detailsView if Label1 is null - empty.
Why is the auto paging not working for me? Is that because it only works for BoundField? Mine is mostly
templatefield. Other than auto paging, everything else works fine. I have at least 20 rows, so once I
specify AllowPaging="ture" and PageSize="5", it should give 5 rows a page for 4-5 pages, right?

I have a form with two GridView controls and a FormView control. All the data is populated using a SqlDataSource for each control - I'm not using any code behind to populate the controls. So far so good. The first GridView is called grdTrades with code like this:

At the moment when the page loads, the frmOrderDetails FormView is not populated. The user has to click on an order in grdOrders to populate the FormView. Is there a nice way to do this?
Is it possible to generate hyperlinks from the contents of a folder... i.e. parses the folder takes the name of the file makes it a hyperlink (removing the .pdf, .doc. etc). I could have sworn I read something about this once, but I'm not finding it.

I have gridview that lists a column of hyperlinked names. A procedure is passed to get the data for the gridview. I am also pulling an ID to use once the name is clicked. Once clicked the ID is used in another procedure to populate a formview. I am having a problem getting the ID to be associated to each hyperlink name in the column and figuring out how I am going to grab the ID from the asp:hyperlinkfield and then assigning it a variable to use elsewhere. Right now I trying to create a datarow with a new attribute.

I have created a Gridview and as part of the GridView I have created an ItemTemplate which has a HyperLink field. I would like the user to possibly select a different hyperlink for each row in the Grid. I have tried using the FileUpload Control and getting the Posted.FileName property and setting this but to no avail.

<asp:HyperLink runat="server" ID="HyperLink1" NavigateUrl='<%# string.Format("Tiff.aspx?ID={0}", Eval("ID")) %>' Target="_blank" Text="View" ></asp:HyperLink>

Target="_blank">HyperLink</asp:HyperLink>
