I have tried to increase the width of the td in Gridview table. I have tried the Headerstyle width, itemstyle width, CSS class. nothing works so far.
does not matter what width I set up, the width of the column remains the same. It really drives me mad now.
I have this lastname column and address column. The address obviously is longer so it makes the gridview to increase its height which I don't want to happen. What I want is to increase the column width of the address in gridview that will suit the long text inside it. How could I do it in C#? Currently this are my codes:

In a gridview, i have a column which displays an Amount. the amount displayed can be negative / positive. When there is a negative value, suppose for eg, the amount is -15000, in the grid view it showsis there a way where i can increase the width of this particular column.

I have set the width of the gridview and all the columns to a % and then to a number of pixels but it does work. The gridview always sets itself to a width required to display all fields and it goes beyond the resolution of the screen. I would like to contain it to 1024 pixels.

I have to put 15-20 columns on the gridview.When I add columns to gridview the width shoots out of the page and the page design is seems ruined.
i placed it inside the panel and added scrol bars to it. it looks ok when debuggin i.e looks ok in internet explorer but in design mode it ruins the page design.

I have an asp:Table. Its with is 100%. This table has only one row but 6 columns. The width of first 5 column is fixed at 150px. The last one does not have its Width specified and so it takes up the rest. The whole row has a background. If any of the first 5 column is clicked, the background of that cell is changed to white.In my development computer, the last column has about 250px. Yet in user computer, as the monitor has a smaller resolution, the last column has only 30px or so. User complains it is ugly and wish to merge the last column with the previous one. How to do so?

to force a table width in Formview control templates? I have created a table in the ItemTemplate that works fine but I can't seem to get the table to fill the entire width of the display area. I tried wrapping the entire FormView
in a div tag and setting the width to 98% but it didn't work either. Aplogies in advance if this has already been asked. I found a lot of references to GirdView (which didn't help) and nothing helpful r/e FormView except the div tag suggestion.

I have this code to create a pdf but its giving an errors saying table width must be grater than zero, and also on the generated pdf should show the items with the associated image, the items are in a gridview and each item has an image. Also a paging option i want to create to if paging is true it must generate the pdf with the actual gridview page else should create a pdf with all items and ignore which page are selected...

here im binding more than 20 records to this gridview. at one situation Title will come alone without any other data, at that time i would like to show the title in a single line so i have increased the Title (first column) width but that size would be set to all the rows, so without affecting other row columns width how to increase that Title size alone.

I have a grid that is built as well as populated dynamically through c# code. The grid has 3 columns(3 bound fields). And data is being populated in those bound fields through c# code programatically.
Elaborating my question: I have 3 bound field columns(col1, col2 & col3) . I have to increase the rowspan of col2 and col3 headertext's to 2 i.e I want the col2 and col3 header texts to span across two row cells. But the col1 header text should span across just 1 row. And the extra rowscell that is created under col1 due to the increase in the rowspans (of col2 and col3 boundfield headertexts) should be populated with some random text, i.e something like XXXXX

I have a dropdown list in a gridview field. The DataValueField for the ddl is an 8 digit item code. The text to display through will be quite longer, 40-60 characters because it will combine the item code and item name into a single string. I don't want the dropdownlist field to be that wide though, only what is displayed when the ddl is selected.In Access you can set the width property of the list to display wider than the field itself. Is there that capability in ASP.NET and if so where do I find it?

There are only 2 columns in grid that can have long size text data (with and without spaces between words).
Problem
1. When grid has lot of columns (say 20), a scrollbar appears on the IE window(as page content is out of windows size); but the two columns that have long text values in them, gets wrapped.
2. when grid has less columns (say 5), no scrollbar appears in IE windows(as page content fits within window).but the same two long text columns, doesn't get wrapped and render in a single line.
Is there any max width of gridview? I want that grid should take all the space (as per content) and show scrollbar; the content should not get wrapped.

I'm trying to set the width of gridview's column.
1) I have a template field with the HeaderText ="WheelChair" that has a checkbox. Just for checkbox its taking the width that of the HeaderText. How do I set the width of this column just enough to fit the checkbox or how do I break the HeaderText of such columns.
2) Also I have another column 'Address ' . I don't want to wrap the content in such columns.
After clicking "edit" button gridview gets resized (stretched). How to keep it always the same width?
View 5 RepliesI have a GridView bound to a SqlDataSource. If the text in a particular column is very long then the Grid view becomes very wide, well off the page. How do I constrain it, if necessary truncating the text displayed? I cannot find the relevant setting in the properties section.
