Forms Data Controls :: Populate Label Text With Conditional Statement?

I have a gridview with the following Template Field
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="ADDRESS" SortExpression="CAST#">
This might be confusing but ill try to explain the best as i can. I have a gridview that get the data from datatable. This is simulation my grid view.
key data
1 data1
2 data2
2. data2
2. data2
3. data3
3. data3
what i want is make some conditional statement, when value "key" is changed i want to add empty row. so its suppose to be looks like this as result.
key data
1 data1
EMPTY ROW
2 data2
2. data2
2. data2
EMPTY ROW
3. data3
3. data3
I have 50 textboxes in a table and i would like to write a conditonal statement. If the textboxes has null or empty then i want to assign them 0 to all the textboxes.(VB.Net) I tried
[Code]....
I have a conditional Eval statement in a Gridview that returns a boolean result to display an image if two datafields(strings) are identical:
Visible='<%# Eval("customerA").Equals(Eval("customerB")) %>'
Works great except I don't want the image to display if both datafields are empty. How can I add that logic into this Eval stmt?
my code is :
[Code]....
row.item(6) field is a navigate url (asp:hyperlink) in front-end code as <eval('url')>
row.item(7) is a boolean field with values : true/false.
if row.item(7) is true then the hyperlink page must open on the current page.
whereas if row.item(7) is false then it should open in a new tab/window.
I'm new to .net but I'm developing this website which needs some dynamic data inserting so I'm using asp.net 3.5 c#. I've got it working on my local machine but as soon as I upload to the server it no longer populates the label fields. I'm not getting any error messages, the rest of the page appears as normal. So I know this is like asking how long a piece of string is, but what is going wrong here, as I say it's working locally just silently failing on the server. I've tried just populating the label field with a hardcoded string and even that's not going through, it's almost as if the class can't see the label.
View 4 RepliesI am fairly new to Visual Web Developer and am trying something out. I have an ASPX page done with a button (using VB). I have already been able to get the username variable to write to the page using Response.write(Environment.UserName). I want to go a little farther with this and extract the field [Program] from a table tblUserInfo in the sql database where the Env.UserName = tblUserInfo.username.
Now I have started to code the button but can't figure out how to use an SQL statement to extract that data...
[Code]....
My end result will be once I can see what program a user is linked to in the table, the question form they are going to will be different based on that program value... but one step at a time eh.
I have Template fields configured for Gridview. The gridview is using an objectdatabsource to bind itself. I have the gridview configured to use Templatefields which then contain tables to display the information. This works fine.
My question is, is it possible to change the text of the label if certain criteria is reached. If "NumberOfDwellings" is 1 then change the label to read, "1 Dwelling". Where-as if NumberOfDwellings has more than one then it's "3 Dwellings".
<asp:Label ID="lbl_NumberOfDwellings" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("NumberOfDwellings") & " Dwelling(s)" %> '></asp:Label>
i have the code to test:
Cmd = New OleDbCommand("update TabEntrevistado set EntrevistadoConcluido=true where EntrevistadoCodigo =8", Con)
Now, I need something like this:
Cmd = New OleDbCommand("update TabEntrevistado set EntrevistadoConcluido=true where EntrevistadoCodigo =" + LblInfoEditar.text, Con)
The problem:
The LblInfoEditar is outside the datalist so it works fine. (note: in this label I put a value like the 8)
But I have this label to test because I need to access a label inside datalist:
<asp:Label Visible="false" runat="server" ID="LblNumEntrevista" Text='<%# Container.DataItem("EntrevistadoCodigo") %>'></asp:Label>
The problem is: in this line I've to put something to access this LblNumEntrevista HOW?
I try:
Cmd = New OleDbCommand("update TabEntrevistado set EntrevistadoConcluido=true where EntrevistadoCodigo =" +
ListaPendentes.LblInfoEditar.text, Con)
But of course I don't work because I can't do this...
My problem is as follows:I have a gridview that get populated from a stored procedure in my MS SQL database. This gridview has a column that is a link field that I click to navigate to a new page that should display the correct info in the relevant labels.So the gridview returns say five diffrent rows of companies (and this work great by the way) and lets say that the 'company name' is the link field column that I meantioned earlier. So now I the company name and this navigates me to the Company.Aspx page, which so far is all working well.What I cant seem to get right is how to pas the correct row of the the passed dataset to display in the correct label fields, here is a brief snippet of what I mean:
if (Session["objDataSet"] != null)
{
DataSet dsCurrent = (DataSet)Session["objDataSet"];
[code]...
I use LINQ.But I can not add data twice "ZnizanaDnevnica.
How could you do one box:
tbl_dnevnice_obracun tbl_dnevnice_obracun = new tbl_dnevnice_obracun()
{ZnizanaDnevnica = ((totDiffHours> = 6 & & totDiffHours <8)? Convert.ToDecimal (dt.Rows [0] ['Znizana']. ToString ()): 0),((totDiffHours> = 12
& & totDiffHours <24)? Convert.ToDecimal (dt.Rows [0] ['Znizana']. ToString ()
this might be an easy one, but I just can't get it.I am creating a page which will query a table with many columns and most items are not unique. I need to be able to get a list of records that match as many of the (up to 4) search criteria as possible.Example:am user searching for the following items, I enter at least one and up to 4 of the items below in a text box:Name, age, gender, weight (user may or may not fill in all of them).If he just enters "F" for gender, then he will get a list of thousands of females with their name, age, gender and weight.However if he enters "F" for gender and "300" for weight, he will get a much smaller list of returned records.I need to be able to create a sql statement that can perform that search with that functionality.
View 6 RepliesI have a very large text file whose data I need to extract and display in a gridview control. The method I'm using now is as follow:
1. Read each line of the textfile using StreamReader, into a String.
2. Split the String and populate the fields of a detail object.
3. Add the detail object to a List.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 for each row of the text file.
5. Bind the list to the gridview.
I think most of the time is spent processing the text file data (steps 1, 2 & 3).
Is there any way this can be done quicker and more efficiently? At present, it takes ages to read and process a 76 mb text file.
I am using VB and trying to get the first value of the cell of a gridview. The gridview is returning a header and 1 value.
In the code behind I have used the below, but the textbox is showing " ". It is not populating the first cell of the gridview databind.
Protected
Sub GridView3_RowDataBound(ByVal
sender As
Object,
ByVal e
As
GridViewRowEventArgs)If
(Not (e.Row.DataItem)
Is
Nothing)
Then
' Set the capacity label text
TextBoxTest.Text = e.Row.Cells(1).Text
End
If
End
Sub
I am unable to get it done as i have huge data in my table which is spoiling the standard look and feel of grid view..
if (row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow) {
ViewState["description"] = e.Row.Cells[10].Text;
if (e.Row.Cells[10].Text.Length >= 25){
e.Row.Cells[10].Text = e.Row.Cells[10].Text.Substring(0, 30) + "...";
e.Row.Cells[10].ToolTip = ViewState["description"].ToString();} }
I am trying to do something like this in an aspx page:
<head runat="server">
<% #if DEBUG %>
<script src="jquery-1.3.2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<% #else %>
<script src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<% #endif %>
</head>
I get an error "Preprocessor directives must appear as the first non-whitespace character on a line". How can I do this?
I'm trying to display an image inside a ListView control based on the value of a databound property. I've tried two methods of doing this (one at a time) and both returned errors of "The server tag is not well formed". Consider the code below.
<ItemTemplate>
<div class="left">
<!-- Method 1 -->
<img src="media-play-button.png" alt="Play" class="mediaplay noborder" runat="server" visible="<%# Eval("MediaType").ToString() == "video" %>" />
<!-- Method 2 -->.........
I'm trying to get the text value of a label when that row is selected in my gridview. The label's text is databound. Originally when I used the <ASP:BoundField /> I retrieved the data by using this syntax "Server.HtmlDecode(row.Cells[1].Text )" when an "onrowcommand" event is triggered. My question is what is the syntax to retrieve the text value of this label if I am using a template field in my gridview. The code for my label is below.
[Code]....
i have a table in my sql, and i want it to loop thoruh each row and display some text in a label, (or anything for that matter)
how id go about this, if your going to suggest ajax can you be very descriptive as ive not done much AJAX if am honest!
I have a repeater set up which takes all records from a SQL DB table and displays. One of the items in this repeater is a Label. The Label's job is to display the 'Responded' field of the database, which is a 'bit' Datatype.
However, when the label displays naturally, it will show TRUE or FALSE. As this is not appropriate for the end-user they would prefer If True = Completed and if False = Outstanding.
I have written the script to do this in an ItemDataBound field, so that (hope my understanding of itemdatabound is correct), everytime a record is found it checks to see what the value is in responded field and 'if true then do X else do Y'.
However, when I have ran it through debug mode it shows that the Label Text of the label is just "". Therefore it will always show 'Outstanding'. In addition, the AssociatedControlID is also blank (""), although I am unsure whether this would present a problem or not.

If any extra information is required I'll do my best to provide it.
I have a listview that has been constructed using tables. I have set the DataKeyNames="SomeTextField" among others. This column is currently not visible in the ListView.
I'd like to populate a textbox on the click of any listview record with the contents "SomeTextField" column.
I want to wrap label text in gridview,as it increses as of the data which bind from database. i have used below code
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Name" ItemStyle-Width="100px" >
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblName" runat="server" Text='<%#Eval("Name").ToString()%>' width="100px" ></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
<ItemStyle Wrap="true" />
</asp:TemplateField>
But it not wotking.
I have a Label1 (Which displays the userName on a page fetched from the c sharp). Now how do I display this Label1 on a text box(UserId), that's already binded, on the same page?
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:textbox
id="UserId"
runat="server"
Text="<%#
Bind('UserId') %>"
/>
</EditItemTemplate>
I just wanted the current userName information included during the insert.
I am having problem with getting the label.text inside the datalist. I tried the below one and it didn't work.;
[Code]....
How can I concatenate two data into the text part of label? I've tried the following:
<asp:Label id="phist" Text='<%# Bind("AA") %>' & '<%# Bind("BB") %>' runat="server"/>
and the following:
<asp:Label id="phist" Text='<%# Bind("AA") & Bind("BB") %>' runat="server"/>
The first one gave me error, second one seems to take the second data from "BB" only.
