Forms Data Controls :: Preserving Selected Row On Gridview And Datalist On Postback?

I have a GridView and a DataList on the same page in a father/son relationship.I am trying to have the selected row on the GridView be in 'focus' on postback so if a person toward the bottom of the list is selected then the scroll position is maintained.I am trying to do the same with a DataList too.Heres my javascript.

The funny thing about this code is when I comment out the DataList portion, the GridView scroll postition works, when I comment out the GridView javascript portion the DataList scroll postion works.Is there a special way to make sure both of these can work or is it a javascript issue?

i have a gridview which consists of databounds and dropdownlist control. When I press the Add Grid Row Button, it will insert a row. Now my question is, if the user selected an item in dropdownList in the firstrow and the user click the AddGridRowBtn Again which will generate the 2nd row, how would i maintain the selectedItem in the dropdownlist after postback?

I downloaded the code and when the gridview loads it works; however, when I select the next gridview index page, the gridview is blank. Don't know why it is not working like it should.

After I changed Datalist1.SelectedIndex (and loading datas)page loads and loses curret scroll position in page.how can I autoscroll (focus) to selected Item of Dataliist after I changed Datalist1.SelectedIndex .so each time datalist Item Selection It goes to top of page.How can I revent this ? or keep position or scroll to selected Datalist item ?

I'm having a really difficult time getting a DataList to work at all. When nothing is bound to the control (this happens before postback) I get an error.

I get the error: DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the name 'Loc'.
I know it doesn't contain a property with the name 'Loc' because I haven't bound anything to the control, which I only do after hitting a Submit button and postback.
How do I get around this so it conditionally evaluates the DataList?

I have a datalist that holds imagebuttons which all link to images stored in a database. When I click on any of the image buttons the datalist enlarges the chosen picture and manages to dothis as the datalist is binded by the uniqueID of the image in the database. So, when I am looking at the enlarged picture, it would be nice to be able to click 'Next' & 'Prev' link buttons to move onto the next or previous picture without having to return to the datalist in between looking at a different photo.
I have managed to set up methods for clicking on 'next' and 'prev' linkbuttons that will successfully browse back and forth between photos in the datalist but the selected index always starts at 0, i.e the first photo in the datalist. So if I'm viewing the 5th image in the list and press 'next', the first image in the list shows up. I thought just by clicking on an image button would automatically set the selected index but obviously this is not the case. I have read various threads and tutorials on the net and a lot of them point to dlIcons.SelectedIndex = e.Item.ItemIndex; I have tried to put this in the itemDataBound method for my datalist but it changes nothing. And if i try to put that line of code in other messages in the class i get error messages (I'm using Visual Web Developer C#).

I've created a dynamic button from another control outside of the update Panel. The button is given an ID and such. When the button is click, a postback occurs and I've re-created this button during Page_Init, Page_PreLoad, and Page_Onload and NONE of them is preserving the value.
The only way for me to find the control was to look at the Page.request.form's allkeys and compare the string with a any text string that contains: Button. Because I ID'd teh button as: ButtonRow_0Col0. But the actual ID is null. However, when traversing through page.request.form, the allkeys shows that ID with no problem.
So how come the actual ID is lost after a partial postback yet, the page.request.form's allkeys can pull out its allkey's value??

Ok so I have two listboxes on my page one for users and another for cases. For some reason the users listbox preserves state, but the cases listbox doesn't.
They're both set EnableViewState= true

I have an aspx page with the following controls:
2 DropDown lists
1 ListView
1 FormView
The procedure is as follows:
STEP 1:
One selects items from the dropdown lists and click the Search button.
The ListView displays all the entries that match the criteria.
STEP 2:
Each entry in the ListView is clickable to select more details in the FormView.
Everything works perfectly well. However I'm testing the selected values after each postback based on the following script:

Now after STEP 1 (Search button) I get the selected ddl values. GREAT so far.
However in STEP 2 and in order to get the selected value of theListView I have to click twice on the same entry in the ListView. The ListView1.SelectedValue is returning 0 after the first click. The correct value is displayed after the second click.

I have a DataGrid that has a dropdown list in an ItemTemplate. Basically, users select a value from the dropdown for each row of the datagrid. When the page is posted back, the selected index of the dropdown list is always reset to 0, and the items are re-bound.
Does anyone know why this might happend? The dropdown items are hardcoded, so there is no external data binding that happens on post back.

I have a question regarding the listview control paging and preserving the state of the items on page change.
I am using listview control and datapager control to achieve paging in the listview control.
I use the listview to display list of questions like with radiobutton list options as answers...
I am unable to preserve the selection of answers between the page changes..
for eg : I If select option1 for the question1 and move to a next page. and If I come back to previous page, the selection goes.
I tried using the view state...but could get this working..
