I have a gridview that is populated with rows of 4 columns.
2 of the columns are required as parameters and I do not want these displaying so I coded visible = False.
The other 2 columns, whilst visible, I coded readonly = True, as all that is required is for the user to select a particular row of data, and select it for edit.Then, the update should be pressed.
I have a gridview that gathers data from two tables, an orders table and a products table. I have an OrderQuantity from the Orders table and a StockQuantity from the Products table and a button to process the order.I am trying to move through the GridView one line at the time, substract the OrderQuantity from the StockQuantity and update the Product table.
View 2 RepliesI've got a single table, with project information and schedule information. To make the data easier to present, I created a tab control with two panels (a detailsview in each). The first tab is for project info, the second tab is for schedule info (again, all fields in the same table). The problem is, if i change info in both tabs, and then hit the update button, only the data from one tab is added to the table. I think this problem is simple to fix, and boils down to the way I have the page organized, but I can't quite figure it out.

When you click the update button, you return to the listview, but with only the information from your current tab saved. How can I get it to update from both detailsviews?

I have a table called descriptions, which stores product descriptions.
I also have a table displaying item details, like description, supplier, serial number etc which appears in a listview.
Is there anyway I can use the descriptions field as a drop down list to be used when a new item is entered into the database?
I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 with a 2005 SQL DB.
I can enter them details manually, but like to have a drop down list or something similar to enter the details.

Am trying to build a page that will display one record at a time. That is the user searches a records table and the page displays the record. Than when the user us done making any changes and clicks save, i want the page to update the records table. So far, i have the page displaying the search results, but the save functionality is not working. Actually after changing an entry and the save button is clicked, the records change are currently reverting back to the old data that they want to change it from. When i try to update a row using the update functionality of Gridview it updates all the rows rather then updating that specific row which is in edit mode.

im tryin to do something without success. I have some SQL table with few columns (fileId(int), fileName, copies, color and finish), the page is build in a way, that the user upload few files (the files uploads to some folder, and the fileId and fileName are write to the above SQL table - so the other columns (copies, color, finish) are stay blank - which is OK!!!) after he finished uploading the files he can see the files names in GridView and in that grid view i put some textbox for copies, and 2 DDL for color and comments. I have a parent gridview which has a child gridview in the itemsTemplate. Both are binded to different SqlDataSources. I can successfully update and delete rows in the child gridview. After updating in the child gridview, some related data in the parent gridview are not updated automatically. So i have placed ParentGridview.Databind() in the rowupdated event of child gridview. But it doesnt look working.

I would like to ask a question on the visual basic codes to loop the gridview to retrieve the values and based on the values, it will be provided as parameters to update to the database table using stored procedure.
Firstly, I have a gridview named grvProduct. The page (ui) will be loaded with data from the database with the use of stored procedures. And only certain values can be edited through the use of template in gridview. So based on those edited values, I'm supposed to pass these values as parameters to the stored procedure which will then update a database table.
Let say, I have 3 records retrieved from the database and displayed in the gridview. And I would like to edit a values in the 3 records, how do I do batch update and pass those parameters to the stored procedure? I went to debug and step through the visual basic codes and realised there were too many arguments specified because I actually loop the gridview.

I believe it is the error in the looping of the gridview which results that I could not batch update the data/values.
I have a query . I want to edit the grid view columns in which user click the edit button he will edit the column in the grid and after that i want to add update button so that when he clicks on updates button after editing the row. The row will be updated and the grid will show you the new update row.

Anyway, I have a VB script for entering a row of data into a table by a web user. When this row of data is entered, I wish to take some of the values from the columns of the "primary" table, and have that data automatically create a new row of data in a "secondary" table. I think I'm part of the way there, here is my script:

"ProductsByMfr" is the "primary" table - the table that the user adds data into when the button click event is fired.
"DealerPricing" is a "secondary" table that I wish to have some of the data from the newly-entered row in ProductsByMfr copied into. Am I even close here?
