Forms Data Controls :: Create A Second Grid In The Same Page With Detailed Info For A Given Record Of The First Grid

I am trying to create a second grid in the same page with detailed info for a given record of the first Grid, but when I press select in the first grid nothing happens. I follwed everything I read.
I have a grid view that does add, edit update and delete. ( I draged the grid to the aspx page ) it is working. I would like to have the following : once I lick on edit, I open a form inside the grid view to edit the fields. How can I do that.
I am developing a website in asp.net that user asp.net membership, users and profile tables.I am trying to display all the users that are registered in a grid along with their first name, last name, email and other profile information . unfortunately all this information is scattered in various tables in the database ( aspnet_users, profiles, membershipsetc)... Can you please tell me how to configfure the datasource & columns of my datagrid (control) to achieve what I am trying to do .. ?????
I have a grid view that I made dynamically based on a data table. The fields that are displayed on the grid view are as follows:
File Name File TyPe Uploaded On
Where as the data table on which this grid is based contains one extra filed that is
FileContents,
This filed contains the contents of the file in binary format retrieved from the data base.
Now I wanted to download the file say by clicking on the file name on the grid or even I an agree to add a Download button to the grid that will download the relevant file.
I would like to ask if there is any control act like grid to display records.The 'datasource' will be a customed class, this dataclass has List<T>, so I will populate each element by iteration into the grid.Any control can I use to work like a grid?The number of records will around 100.This control should also allow the user to select a record.
I've got a gridview with three fields, the last of which is a template field with an imagebutton in.
The first field is a Date, and the second is a time field (it is however just varchar field as it may differ and will not be programmatically used).
I want the following to happen if I click on the imagebutton (reserve):
Four other fields must be inserted into the record.
Is the best way to launch a detailsview where the row.imagebutton@=ID and just edit the fields like that or should I pass the two fields (and RecordID) along with the query string to a new page where the passed information can be in invisble textbowes and just have the user enter (UPDATE) the four outstanding fields? I feel like doing it this way?

This should be simple as it is only one table with records that has to be partially inserted by an admin person (2 Fields) and then completed by a web user (4 fields).
I have data grid with page size 15. I need to find total number of record(s) in a grid. How to do it?There is two ways to do:

Have a GridView with a templated select button hidden and using

When user like to update the datasource he will select one row from gridview then in selected indexchanged event i would display the selected row values beneath the form under the grid , Then user will update the contents displayed from grid and click an update button which is outside the grid . After updating the displayed row , i got to get the values of the next row in the grid and display them for next updation , i'e if users maually selects row 3 from grid then he can update the values using the update button and then on update click itself i'll have to display next row contents of row 4 and this process could go on .
I have Parent/Child Grid (also called Nested Grids).
Parent Grid (PG) :: PG has two template fields. 1st template field has "Category ID" and 2nd template has Child Grid
Child Grid (CG) :: CG is populated in PG's RowDataBund event based on "Category ID". In CG's DataBound event, I am doing something which I need to display in CG's footer row.
Problem :: In the footer row of each CG, I have to show the "Category ID" which is in PG' row. How can I get hold of the PG's row which hascurrent nested grid (there will 'n' child grids, one for each 'Category ID' in the PG ) so I can read the "Category ID"
I was thinking if I could do something (DataBound event of CG) like this..

I'm using ASP.NET/VB and am wanting to nest a grid inside of another grid. I've seen them but am unsure how to make them work. I have a Orders table with an OrderID and it is linked to a Orders_Detail table. I would like to be able to select the order and see the details. I've done it differently with 2 grids outside of each other, but this isn't the solution I need.
I have 50000 record in two tables which need to show in grid? and the records in the table use to insert , update and delete frequently. I need to load fast all the records. which method i should bind to get as quick as early as possible. Which z best method to bind whether using SQL datasource, creating views, using datatable, creating stored procedure etc?
I'm using the GetOleDbSchemaTable to get column info from an access db, column_name and description, but getting an error that the bind statement can't get the properties. I know its there because I can response.write it from its table, schemaTable.Rows(i)!DESCRIPTION.ToStringdo I have to bind it differently than when binding actual data from a table using the column name for reference?System.Web.HttpException: DataBinding: 'System.Data.Common.DataRecordInternal' does not contain a property with the name 'DESCRIPTION'.
I have to show multiple data with textBox & Grid for that i use DataList by using that, i achieve textbox data; but stil have a problem of Grid... to show in Asp:DataList...
I'm trying to create a list (customized grid) with data pulled from the database and display it to the user in a format that looks very much like a forum thread and replies or posts.Which each of these "posts" I require to have buttons specific to that particular column to edit, delete etc.
