Forms Data Controls :: Dropdownlist In Gridview Not Populating The Update Parameter?

during edit mode i populate the drop down in question with data based on a value selected in another drop down also in the gridview, all works find, but the paramater is not being updated with the selected value, i think this is because i do not call any Bind in the aspx side.

I read your article on ASPSnippets and everything worked great. I am having one problem and this is preventing me from moving forward. When I select the edit for a row (I only have two columns), the drop down comes back blank (no records). I have looked at the code multiple times and can't see where I made a mistake. is it possible to control the width of the drop down list? I can't tell if the column automatically adjusts because I am not returning any records.

I have a gridview with some text-box columns and one dropdownlist-column (Templatefield).
With the dropdownlist i wan't to be able to edit a cell in a row. I have read a lot on the web and i have folowing code. I only get a parameter error now, before i added the dropdownlist everything was ok.

With above i get error: Message=DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the name 'Subrubriek'. when trying to update the row.

My database has 4 colums;
TraditionalID-------------TraditionalName------------Singles-----------Suppers
Singles and suppers are money fields for the price of same item. A bit like the price of a Small, Medium or Large item. What I would like to do is display the 'Singles' price and 'Suppers' price in seperate listitems so the user can choose 1 of them.
GridView:
Traditional Name__________Size
Chicken-------------------[DROPDOWNLIST]
DropDownList:
Price of Single is: £1.50
Price of Supper is: £2.50
My page loads up with the correct items in TraditionalName colum but the DropDownList is completely empty. I'm aware I don't have anything in for DataValueField and DataTextField but I have tried putting things in these attributes, like Suppers and Singles, but nothing works, so I have taken them out below.

I have 2 dropdownlist(ddlCategoryFooter and ddlItemCodeFooter)inside my gridview. I want to set ddlItemCodeFooter 's datasource to my getItemList(decimal categoryID) method. The selecteditem of ddlCategoryFooter will serve as the paramter which will be passed to my getItemList Method. Basically,ddlItemCodeFooter is dependent on ddlCategoryFooter's selectedItem.
I know it can be done in code behind approach but i prefer to place it in my asp page.
This i what i want to acheive:

I have a SQL table containing a timestamp column. This table is displayed in ASP using GridView control. The timestamp column is indicated in the DataKeyNames property of the GridView. I'm using TemplateFields for all columns and a ItemTemplate HiddenField control connected to the timestamp column using Eval.

The data is displayed properly. I'm trying implement the optimistic concurrency in C# using the value of above mentioned timestamp and a stored procedure. The SQL stored procedure expects the @timestamp as varbinary(8). I'm not sure how to pass the value of gv_hid_timestamp back to the stored procedure. I'm using the following:
command.Parameters.Add("@timestamp", SqlDbType.Binary).Value = Byte.Parse(((HiddenField)gv.Rows[row].FindControl("gv_hid_timestamp")).Value);
resulting in the following error: "Input string was not in correct format." (I also tried different data types but with similar result). I want to be able to pass this parameter programmatically from C# and not have to specify it on the UpdateParameters list.

The Insert row in the ListView has an empty DropDownList and GetCountries() is not called. However, if I click the Edit button on an existing row, GetCountries() is called twice (not sure why) and the DropDownList is properly populated. Why isn't the InsertItemTemplate DropDownList getting populated?

On my formview I have a drop down list that is populated with the names of the files in a certain directory. This works fine, but when the drop down list selected value is bound to the database field I get the following error :
'ImageFileDropDownList' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value
I have setup other drop down lists in the same formview populated from SqlDataSources and these all work fine. I can see perhaps why this is an issue because I have not specified a DataValueField or a DataTextField for this drop down that is populated in code (whereas I can for the SQL bound ones) because I'm not sure what these settings would be.
I need to have a "blank" option as well so that the field does not default to the first value in the list.

I am able to populate the staffs indenpendantly according to what is written in textbox or dropdownlist. Whar i wanted to do is mix the population of staffnames from textbox and dropdownlist. In other words, when i search "sandra' in textbox and select a Department A , the listbox will show all the sandra from Department A only.

I have a ListView that I need to populate a dropdownlist while rendering. For each rown in my table has a field called sizes which has data that looks like this "blue; red; yellow; green", I need to render a dropdownlist in the ItemTemplate with these values, I tried placing a PlaceHolder but I don't know how to populate it. I have tried to populate it OnItemDataBound and OnUnload but neither seem to work.

I am drawing a blank and need some direction.I am putting together a simple website that has a single DropDownList that is DataBound to table inside of a FormView Template.What I want to happen is when the page loads, it runs the SELECT statement and displays that result(which it does, so that part works).Where I am stuck is that if I Click the DropDownList and select another item, and display the results of that selected item in the associated Databound controls.My code is below;

I have a dropdownlist in EditItemTemplate and InsertItemTemplate which I want it to populate at the runtime while Inserting an item or Editing an item.
I am facing an issue regarding populating a dropdownlist dynamically while in Edit and Insert mode. There are 0 Records in my table and it shows "Empty Data message" in my Listview control. Even the ItemDataBound event does not fire. So I am not able to find the dropdownlist in that listview.

I am new to asp.net (I may use some incorrect termology while I explain my issue...) and need some help with DropDownList in Gridview. Currently I have a GridView set up with three Columns bound to a database: Column1 - some kinda of index, Column2 - string, Column3 - DropDownList(called Active). So far when I build the page, all the columns show up and the DropDownList appears and the values are bound correctly. I want to change a value in the DropDownList and automatically update that value in my database.
I have set AutoPostBack = true and I made a DataObject (called UpdateActive) to update the database (it takes 2 inputs, the Column1 index and Column3 DropDownList value).However, I don't know how to find the row that I am changing, is there a way to figure out what row it is (like finding the Column 1 index?). Also, I don't want to have to click a button to update the data.

I currently have a page that is used to insert or update records in a DetailsView using an EntityDataSource control. Insert is working perfectly. However, Updating is not. I have the default view set to insert. In PageLoad, I have:

However, the DetailsView always defaults to the first record in the table rather than the record with ID that is equal to the ID querystring parameter. I am not sure how to make it select the correct record. From spending a while researching, it looks like I might need to use a QueryExtender control on the Entity DataSource, but haven't been able to figure out how to configure the QueryExtender correctly.
There is also perhaps some sort of datasource="stuff", databind() that I could toss in there but again.. not really sure how to proceed.

I have a GridView with a DropDownList in it bound to the [Applicants] table in SQL Server 2005.
The DropDownList Items Text and Value come from SqlDataSource3, "SELECT VoucherType, VoucherNumber FROM [Vouchers]"
I need to send the DDLs selected Text to [Applicants].[VoucherTypeIssued] and the Value to [Applicants]. VoucherNumber]
I already have a "dlVoucherTypeIssued_SelectedIndexChanged" event in the code behind to put "Voucher Issued" into [dbo].[Vouchers].[VoucherStatus]. I'm having trouble getting all three values written to the database at the same time.

Girdview has dropdownlist TemplateField called ddlSate, how to bind state field value in sql table to selected value of ddlState dropdownlist control? For example the sql table has AL value for state field, (Note by default ddlState lists all states options with sqldatasource), how AL is selected in ddlState when binding to ddlState?

I'm not sure how to search for what I'm seeking, so I'm hoping to be pointed in the right direction.
I have 4 gridviews that contain the same 3 rows of data. For each gridview, I need to create a seperate gridview that will do some calculated values on the parent gridview like A3-A1, to put it in spreadsheet terms.
And at the very bottom I will have a total gridview control that will sum up each row from the parent gridviews. And under that gridview a final gridview to perform the A3-A1 calculation.

Am having one gridview. In that there is some details and one hyperlink (for Mail) and one Label (Mail Status).
The Mail status label have default value Not Sent for all fields. If i click the Mail link and send mail to the corresponding person, then the Default label value will be automatically changed its text to Sent.
