View 7 RepliesI have a repeater that I have bound to a sql reader via my code behind page.
However I can't figure out how to populate the controls in my repeater in my code behind code.
At the moment I am having to specify the database field e.g productprice with the control in the .aspx page like this
<asp:Label ID="LabelUnitPrice" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("productprice") %>'></asp:Label>
I would rather specify fields in my code behind than embedding them in the .aspx page.
I also have a subtotal label control in my repeater that I would like to populate its text property by mutiplying two of the database values e.g productprice * unitprice shown in my repeater.
I need to do this in code behind, looping through the repeater. Any idea of how I can do this in C#?
How to pass gridview particular column values to another page's table header...
View 1 RepliesScenario:
I have a Gridview where I want to handle the Sorting in a custom control that I've added to the header.
I've added this control to my GridView's Header via OnRowCreate event handling. I want the Sort Expressions to persist session to session (via Webparts Personalization)
Here is what I have for adding the custom header control to the GridView Header
[Code]....
This works out well for adding the control, but I can't get anything to persist because these controls are creating initially via postback (per the event) and re-created on all subsequent postbacks. I can't add an If(!IsPostback) because the controls are initially created on the gridview's postback (well at least thats how it's acting when I put it in there) If I were to add this control via the ASP page, not via the Codebehind, I would be able to persist the control. If I try to treat it as though everything is setup correctly, and assign my custom control's controls to [Personalizable], I get a runtime error telling me that I can only have webpartzones in or before Page_init (I'm guessing this is due to when/where the
gridview hits the OnRowCreate event). If there is some fundimental logic I'm missing, or best practices that I'm moving away from,
I have a fileupload control.I'm selecting a image using the control and saving it in the database.In the edit mode,I need to assign the path of the image in the textbox of the file upload control.
View 1 Repliescan we assign the values to textbox of Gridview EmptyDataTemplate ? if yes, how can you assign. pls give the coding also.
View 5 RepliesI have a simple user control which toggles between the visibility of a few images depending on the UserId. When the page is loaded for the first time, the userID is being assigned correctly (I'm debugging). However, there are two other buttons on the page for filtering the type of users, they are perform their functionality via Ajax (not the toolkit, but the normal javascript ajax) When one of these buttons are clicked, the user control cant get the userid, it always comes up as Zero. Oh, btw, the usercontrol is in a DataRepeater, so it occurs for each of the user.. all the time.. or thats the Idea. I have several other pages like this, (none of them have ajax) and the user control has no problems whatsoever.
My User control code:
[Code]....
And the Data Repeater is something like this:
[Code]....
Here, Immediately after the userControl <ucAB:....> line, I am printing the userid just to see if its valid (by <%# Eval("UserId") %> and the user id's are valid too. I dont understand why the User Control cant pick it up on ajax postback?
I have a ASP.Net page that has a gridview control. This gridView control has a checkbox controls. I would like to assign a boolean value from a database field to the Checked property- Checked='<%# Bind("RESULTS") %>'.
When page loads,I get error - Specified cast is invalid!
The code is as follows...
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataSourceID="dsResults"
BackColor="White" BorderColor="#CCCCCC" BorderStyle="None" BorderWidth="1px"
CellPadding="3" OnRowUpdated="GridView1_RowUpdated">
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="COMPLIANT" SortExpression="RESULTS">
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox ID="CheckBox2" runat="server" Checked='<%# Bind("RESULTS") %>' />
</EditItemTemplate>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox ID="CheckBox1" runat="server" Checked='<%# Bind("RESULTS") %>'
Enabled="False" />
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
Note: If a constant value is passed at design time it works fine. But i want to assign the value at runtime using Bind.
Environment details: VS 2008, ASP.NET 2.0 and .Net Framework 3.0 & C# language.
I tried returning values like 0s and 1s, Ys and Ns and True and False from a database field. But i still get the above mentioned error.
I tried retreving the value in OnRowDataBound event using Eval, since Bind is not available in code behind. But it would make the field readonly and i cannot edit and update the Results field.
Even though there is a value returned by the query why does the Checkbox does not assign the value using <%# Bind("Results") %> to Checked property instead throws error - Specified cast is invalid.
how i can edit and update Checkbox.
where did the Bind method of ASP.Net 1.x is moved? How can i use Bind in code behind of ASP.Net 2.0?When i type DataBinder the intellisense shows Eval and other stuff but i don't see Bind that would solve the problem of two- way binding.
I have a gridview in a page, and some Texboxes along with a button(for issuing a command) in the same page. The TextBoxs were inputted values and the values could be assigned to the selected row of the gridview, some fields are the same values along the rows, and the values are inputted in the TextBoxes for using several times without change.
Well, I need to know: how can I assign the values of the TextBoxes to the selected row of the gridview. in another words, how can I access the cell members of the gridview when it is in edit mode? (Q1)
If the row is not selected, I have no way to know which row should be assigned values, since there is no such things like "current row".
So, if the selecting button(or link) of the gridview is not selected, the button along with the TextBoxes should keep disabled, until a row's "Edit" button is clicked. (Q2: How can I find if the Edit button is clicked? I guess I can use the property "mode" of the gridview to indicate the situation. )
And the last question is (Q3), how can I ensure the values are updated to the database? Maybe I dont need to do more things than just click the uppdate button of the row of the gridview.
(using c# and .NET 2008):
I have a main web page and added a user control inside it. The user control has some textboxes. The problem I have is when I populate the textboxes with the data that is in the DB, they do not show the values. The strange thing is If I change the property of textboxes ReadOnly to TRUE, they show the values. The problem is that I need them to be ReadOnly=FALSE.
I have a Detailsview grid with an SqlDatasource, this DVG is only going to be used to insert records. The primary purpose of the DS is to populate a DDL control in the insertItem Template that I created my code is this:
[Code]....
The DDL control populates correctly, but when I try to modify the INSERTCommand property in my DS, I try to assign the value to my parameters "TesterID" and "TesterDate" but the only options for controls to pick from, is the DGV but not the DDL in it. I assume it has to do with the InsertItem template but even if I reset it I still cannot pick the textbox as a control that would give the value to my parameters.
I did find a workaroun by build a public method and calling it in the onclick event of the insert button but looks like I have to create another connection to the database which to me seems unnecessary since I already have a DS and everything. how can I do this without having to use my method. here is my method just in case.

I need to apply a function, called get_local_name() to translate, in the language chosen by the user, the headers of a table in Listview. The function searches a table with all the translations and gets the one corresponding to the original name of the header. I had no problems with other buttons or labels. There I have a label, a property Text, so it's easy, for me, remember I'm a total noob, to recall the element I want to translate in Vb. For instance:
Protected Sub select_local()
L_admin.Text = get_local_name("Admins", lng)
End Sub
Private Sub GV_customers_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GV_customers.RowDataBound
If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.Header Then.....
and now I have to do the same for the headers in Listview, but I really can't understand how I could apply get_local_name to the Text of the headers.
I have searched numerous articles for how to accomplish freezing the Header Row of a DataGrid or GridView component being to simply hide the header and then build table cells just above the component to define the columns. But the one that I'd like to get to work is by the use of CSS code. Problem is that this code seems to work for everyone else but it isn't working for me. Here's my Stylesheet code:
[Code]....
When I run my page I get all the styles applied but the header scrolls with all the other rows in the grid.
why this code is probably not working? I am using .NET Framework 3.5 and developing in VSS 2008 which may be why this doesn't work?
I have successfully downloaded sample code from Code Project which works using other techniques as well, but the code was written in .NET 1.1 Framework and VB.NET.
I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and C#. I have a gridview, which has template columns. The columns have header text available. I would like to do sorting on each of the column header in the gridview the user clicks.
How to identify which column, the user has clicked?
I want to dynamically bind dataset values into datagrid's header datafield.
Is it possible? To be more clear, when you click on datagrid's (Collection) from properties window, you get selected columns created from Bound column. So in those columns I want to dynamically display dataset's table values in those columns.
i.e like ds.Tables[0].Rows[0][0].
Is it possible to do it in Datagrid ItemDataBound function like,
e.Item.Cells[1].Text = ds.Tables[0].Rows[0][0]
or something like this? I know the above code is wrong and wont work since I tried it out and while building it throwed error saying, Cannot implicitly convert type 'object' to 'string'.
Here I've a listview control whose datasourceid is set to one sqldatasource, listview contains a panel in a itemtemplate region. In the panel there are some lables which are bounded to the column present in sqldatasource. But In one label I have to assign some other value dynamically. can any body tell me how to access that label and assign value to it. Here's the code
<asp:ListView DataSourceID="sqldtsrcsrchre" ID="srchrelst" runat="server">
<LayoutTemplate>
<ul class="productlist">
<asp:PlaceHolder ID="itemPlaceholder" runat="server">
</asp:PlaceHolder>
</ul>

How to add a repeater header item template Dropdown using code behind
View 1 RepliesI have 5 textboxes in my webpage for entering address, i.e,
door no, village, city, district, pincode.
These are concatenated by comma (,) and stored into the database field address. at the time of retrieving, the concatenated address, should be separated and assign to each textboxes.
I have a simple user control (myControl.ascx) , in the myControl.ascx.cs file, I defined:
public string sUserName
{
get
{
return _sUserName;
}
set
{
_sUserName = value;
populateData();
}
}
In one of my aspx page, I use this control:
[Code]....
myNameSapce.Config.sType is a public value from a class, I just can't get that value for above inline code, is it possible to do that? Otherwise, I need go to the .cs file to do this: myControl1.sUserType = myNameSapce.Config.sType; But still hope I can do the inline code.
I have to assign the individual color to Column bar chart i tried the below it is working
[Code]....
but i want loop through each chart series item and assign them a color from an array. Is it possible with MS Chart control iam using the Column Bar chart for displaying the data.
Via RowDataBound, how to find a control in the header row?
This is what I have but not working!!!
[Code]....
I know how to Add a Row just under the header, but then other controls start to fail.
I'm hoping there is a fairly straight forward method to be able to access the header of a gridview, so I can then add a control.
This is what I have so far, but simply adds another row just under the header
[Code]....
I have a control and list of variables and I want in the control property to be assigned to the variable value directly in the page not from the back code, something like this
My global variables
public string Banana = "banana_pie";
public string Apple = "apple_pie";
in my custom control instead of:
<uc:LoadPie id="pieBanana" type="banana_pie" />
To this
<uc:LoadPie id="pieBanana" type="<%=Banana %>" />
so is there a way or just assign the property in page back code.
I have the FieldHeaderStyle-Width set to 100px for a details view and it works fine unless the fields have no data. Then the width is adjusted automatically. How can I control the width of the field header when there is no data in any of the fields?
