You'd think since MS SQl Server 2008 and asp.net are both Microsoft products, asp.net would support the new "time" datatype but anyway.
This is one data field in gridview called "timesort"
<asp:templatefield HeaderText="timesort" SortExpression="timesort">
<EditItemTemplate>

I only want to display the time in a gridview, and need to display it in this fromat "4.00pm" . I'm using template fields to write the date and time to the gridview like this...

I'm currently developing a system for booking of discussion room in a college. This system will allow the staff to help the students to make booking in advanced as well as for instant walk in usage.I've got a table to keep track of bookings, another for walk in and one for time slot.
For the time slot table, it includes start time slot and end time slot, which is 30 minutes interval for each.What i'm currently facing is that the system could not display the correct available time slot. I think it's the formula problem which I still can't get it solved.
Example:If the booking time is 8.30am - 9.00am, I have no problem showing the 1st slot as N/A.
But if the time is 8.45am - 9.15am, the system only update the 1st slot as N/A while the 2nd slot still remain as AVAILABLE which is wrong. Because since the time ends at 9.15, I would like the slot 9.00am - 9.30am to be N/A as well.
This would be my code:
[Code]....
I have total 21 time slot count in my table. And the arrCC113Availability is an ArrayList keeping track of the availability of each slot for that particular room.Is there any other formula which can cater for all the conditions?

I'm getting "the input string was not in the specified format" on the last line of code below. The grid is based on a SqlDataSource that has a stored procedure pulling an integer for column 0.
int theUserID = 0;
string theUserFullName =
"";
theUserID = Int32.Parse(gvUserPermissions.Rows[gvUserPermissions.SelectedIndex].Cells[0].Text);

there is a template field in gridview this is basically for showing amount.
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Amount" ConvertEmptyStringToNull="False">
<ItemTemplate>
<%#GetQTY1(float.Parse(Eval("Sub_ContractAmt").ToString())).ToString("N2")%>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
if my data base field has any value then it shows no error. but if this fiels is null then it shows error
input string was not in correct format while binding the gridview.
so can you please tell me the method that if this field has null value then what should I do so that i dont get this error. this fields might be null.

I have a gridview that is built using a objectdatasource and set to autogenerate the columns based on that source, on some other pages i have a gridview that is built within the page with template fields and so on..
in that gridview i have a field that displays the time value like so
<asp:Label
ID="lblstartDate"
runat="server"
Text='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"startDate", "{0:t}") %>'
/>
How can i apply the same formatting to my time column that is being displayed on the page that uses the autogenerated columns?
I tried to handle in SQL, but only returned the value like this : 03:11:00 and i would like to see it like this : 3:11 AM

I can't seem to change the format from 77.77980986554 to 77.80% in one of the footer columns.
I tried
GVreporteventas.FooterRow.Cells[3].Text = String.Format("{0:D2}%",((tva / tvo) * 100).ToString());
Did not work, the point is that no matter what format I give it, it always returned like 77.77980986554
No matter if I try currency format or other formats, so obviously is not even formatting the string or something.

I'm stumped on this one... it seems really simple, but I can't get around it. I am pulling 2 values (discount percent, discount amount) from a formview label control. I want to use these numbers in a calculation, but I can't seem to get the format correct.
I hit the error on this statement:
DiscountAmt = Convert.ToDouble(fvDiscountResults.FindControl(
"DiscountSubtotal1"
).ToString)

I have a ListView control that pulls a phone number from a db table. I'd like to format the phone number in the presentation layer to look like (###) ###-####.
The code line currently looks like this. The page displays the phone# but unformatted, i.e. 9999999999.
[Code]....
Based on other posts I've looked at in this forum, I've also tried:
<li>Phone: <%# String.Format("{0:(###) ###-####}", Databinder.Eval (Container.DataItem("Phone"))) %> with no success. In fact, this particular line throws an exception in my application (Input string not in the correct format).
The datatype I'm using in SQL is varchar(15)
The MSDN documentation for the String.Format method hasn't been very helpful thus far.

I have created a class file which gets me the state codes,license numbers and the expiration dates for the same.
I fetch the expiration dates in string format.
Each customer can have many licenses.
I have changed the format of the date (initially appearing as YYYY/MM/DD 00:00:00 when retrieved from database) to MM/DD/YYYY.
After retrieving all the licenses pertaining to a single customer, I bind them to a datalist.
Now the requirement is that for each customer, I need to sort the licenses according to the latest expiration date and then display the same.
How can this be achieved ?

I have a Data field of type "Integer" below is my Edit Template for this Data field
<asp:TextBox
ID="OfficeSqFtTextBox"
runat="server"
Text='<%# Bind("OfficeSqFt", "{0:#,0}") %>'
Here is my problem When I try to edit this record, in the Edit mode, this Data field shows the number correctly with formatted e.g. 22,344 if I click on Save the record, it will give me the error "Input string was not in correct format". If I edit this number and remove the "," between numbers then it saves. What can I do to make this work? If I remove the "{0:#0}" then in the edit mode the number will show as 22344 without any comma separation. Note: On the same page I have other Data field of type "Money" and it works with the format applied ???? why does it works with the Money type and not Int???
