I have an ASP pg with a formview list control on it that hooks up to a sql database customer table
I want to access the customer name outside the form.
How do I:
A) access the bound text box in the form view template? Something like Text1.text=formview1.customername.text (that doesn't work but that's the kinda thing)
B) access the database field in the table that the sqlsource connects to to feed the formview
Really appreciate the help. I bet it's easy to do but I'm just not getting there.
I have an asp.net website with master pages. My controls got renamed from "myTextbox" to "ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_myTextbox"...and I have many javascripts that use that unique id...
HOWEVER, just suddenly (it used to work), my controls are now named (I can see this in viewsource) "ContentPlaceHolder1_myTextbox", so my javascript is all broken.
What caused this sudden change in naming convention?
I know javascript can utilize asp.net's ClientID property...but this is not working for me, cuz I need to be able to do "getElementById" and you can't use the client ID here.
I have a ListView control with multiple pages of records. Is there a way to loop through all of the records in all of the pages ? Unfortunately the code below(where BillLiistView is my ListView control) only lets me perform action on the rows that are currently displayed.

I have 2 asp.net pages. However, now I realized that I should had placed the content of the two pages in a
MultiView control with 2 tabs (each one getting the content of the pages that I had developed).
How can I do that? Should I place the hole content of the page in a View control inside the MultiView Control? this would be a lot of work =/

View 1 RepliesI currently have a label on my page that displays a cookie value (Username after login), I am trying to populate text boxes based on the value of the label, so basically the web page will show the details of the logged in user.
My code is not working at all and I cannot understand why, my cookies work as the Username is clearly displayed in the label after login, and I have tried using another text box to read the value of the label and this works also, so it is definately soemthing to do with my Select statement as to why the values are not appearing where they should.
Each of my text boxes are dynamically populated with code such as below:

So I know that the error is that it is not able to read a value for Contacts.CompanyName, but I cannot figure out why.
I want is after login, for the user to be able to go to a 'my account' page to see what data is held on them and edit it if necessary.
Now for the horrid bits, I am building this in dreamweaver as aspx pages in vb and it is backed with an access database.
Now i have a database table holds all info of my (customers) such as first last names and address phone number etc ... and i able to edit delete update their info from my side using the admin page that contians gridview i created. If several customers logged into their account pages, and each one wants to update his information,
How can i let the specific customer info be showin on his page for each customer? (I have one databse table and it contains a primery key column called "MemberID") how can i make the new subscribed user get his info that he did input or i would like to add to it, showin on his account page?

I am trying to make a page that will display the fields that are asscoiated with the current logged in user:
User name
Secret Question and Answer fields of the authenticated user,
Last Login date of that user
Last Password changed date of that user
When the account was created of that user.

Also by default it does not display anything, so after the .aspx extension I add .aspx?UserId=1 and it displays the first record on the database. But if I change it to .aspx?UserId=2 or
.aspx?UserId=3 etc, it still displays the first record on the database. Why does it not display the next user name. (I am logged in with admin and it is displaying a user that is in another role group)

I have a gridview populated with data coming from a datatable. The data shown in the gridview is dependent on the the choice of a control (dropdown with autopostback enabled). When I load the page for the first time with Allowpaging prperty to false the gridview show all the data correctly.But When I set Allowpaging prperty to True the Gridview shows the data in all pages the same data in first page as when I click Seond,Third,..... pages I find the same data in the first page without changing

if I click on view details button and display all the details
I want to update Email address, first name in that page.
after updating, I want to return to previous page where datagrid is there.
I want updated data in that datagrid.
I did this by creating different page and after clicking on return button, instead of going to previous page, I m redirecting to new page with the datagrid.
If I click on view details button on that page..its throws runtime error.
After searching, I got EnableEventValidation=false, it is working fine, but viewdetails button is not working.
I'm pretty new in the world of ASP.Net, but not on developing in general. I created a webservice which read data from a SQl-database. This works fine. Now I want to create a customer website which uses the webservice to read those data. I need to do this periodically, say every 10 seconds.
The profiler on the database and debugging the website tells me that the values are read good, even is they are changed in de database. But, I need to display those values on a label, but this won't work, only with a meta-refresh every 10 seconds.Is there a way to use a timer and refreshes labels ?

Part of this tutorial entails setting up a GridView which is bound to the collection of UserAccounts, and then enabling paging on the GridView. There are the usual four links for First, Prev, Next, and Last pages, which should work because I have twelve users defined, and the pagesize of my GridView set to 5. I've set up the code to enable or disable the paging links depending on what section of the entire UserGrid is currently visible.
So when I first run the website and go to the ManageUsers.aspx page, I would expect to see only the first five users in my collection. But it shows all twelve.
I must have overlooked something, but I can't find it in the text and examples.
I have my gridview saving but it only saves the first page. How can I save the data on all pages? Code is below

(2) I want ASP code resides in remote PC in my office
So the idea is they access (via internet) my office PC/server with ASP codes on it and use the software, and the client PCs use data on their own server and these 2 combined to produce the result. I know this seems impossible but any idea to fine tune and still achieve (1) +(2) practicably?
I am trying to find out if what I am looking to do is achieveable. And if it is - where I would start. We have users who are completing an online quiz which they submit to SQL, we then extract the data and using Mail Merge in MS Word send them a personalised certificate by email. What would be better is that when they submit the data to the DB that the certificate was generated and emailed directly back (this needs two fields from the form data to drop into the form template).
View 1 RepliesNow that some of the Security matrix has been approved and site is somewhat more functional. We are going back thru adding the loginview to the pages that need it so we can control who can adn can't see the pages and data.
To keep it simple, here is what i have setup.. Because if this setup, i cant access my controls and the page wont display either template. Now even though the aspx code below is a very stripped down version of what i have, the code behind has references to controls that dont show in my example, but they are there in my actual page. A gridview control for displaying the filtered data and a sqldatasource control and a commandbutton called search.
The following code is used to filter the data in database and it works properly. But when i click on edit in gridview, the gridview displays no records and again when i click on search button the data is displayed on the gridview displayed with the selected row in editmode.

Due to the size of content, I would like to dynamically create tab pages on a page dependant on user action. Also, I would like to have the ability to allow the user to close/dispose of the tab pages. Is there anyFREE user control that can do this?

Some pages require a drop down list where users can select a document from a list.
Is there a way to add this to the page?

i have a trouble with printing pages. i'm taking my datas on database. i can't print mor pages than one. i tried using e. HasMorePPAges=true property. But i couldn't. also i look out this subject on internet. i couldn't find any source helpful. How can i do printing multiple pages?
